'why are actors striking aren't they all millionaires' here's a paywall free link to an article that mentions how most of the cast of one of netflix's biggest shows had day jobs bc they couldn't afford rent
kimiko glenn, the actress who played brook soso, just posted her residual check for all of the episodes she did and talked about how most of the oitnb actors had to have second jobs while filming despite them basically being too famous to be out in public at that time
Queer media really changed a lot since I was a kid. It used to be that your only options were to try to find a DVD of Rocky Horror, Rent, or The L Word and watch it without your parents seeing. Nowadays, however, you have your pick from a wide variety of shows that got canceled in their first or second season.
i still remember when that stupid glee kiss happened. it made the news. people freaked the fuck out. my dad yelled at me about it in the car after school one day—he knew that i’d seen the show before (on account of being 13 fucking years old) and demanded an explanation. my mom loved grey’s anatomy, a show that fired a gay actor so hard that his much-beloved character got killed by a bus. i remember the hushed whispers about oitnb. i remember when people got pissy about gay stuff happening in game of thrones, the nastiest most adult-oriented show ever
i get that we’re all trapped in a toilet circling around a never ending shitturd of queer infighting—no piece of media will ever satisfy everyone—but it’s so nice that gay people can kiss on tv now. it doesn’t make headlines, not like it used to. hell, they sell queer YA novels at fucking target. the fact that “this is just ‘gay’ to appease the masses” is even a fucking situation fills my heart with joy, lmao
hello! my dad and i are good omens fans and have been for a while, but im a bit worried. my dad says he isnt homophobic, yet "doesnt like gay people being shoved down his throat" in tv and movies (even tho he literally enjoyed shows like oitnb and ofmd). its heavily hinted that azi and crowley are into each other, and im scared my dad will have a bad reaction with me while watching season 2 if anything happens. what should i do if that happens? thanks!
I wish there was an emergency number you could dial in case of a bad parental reaction.
I'm not sure Good Omens ever forces anything down anyone's throat. It's more like serving soup, a spoonful at a time. Probably he'll enjoy it.
