The Ventus Job!
Summary: The Evanuris have been defeated, the blight is in retreat, but there is still work to be done. The destruction of Hightown and the precarious position of the Tevinter government are a singular opportunity for the Venatori. With concerns arising not only in Minrathous, but in Ventus — a city Rook has a complicated relationship with — they have their work cut out for them with this job.
Set shortly after the end of Veilguard, and the sequel to my Getting Into Trouble series.
Rating: E (for later smut), no warnings apply
——————————
That’s right, the prologue is up with many thanks to @mythals-whore @wukodork, and @davrinsleftpectoral for beta reading, and of course huge thanks to @mageofquandrix for alpha reading and being my unfailing support person, @vael-fire for encouraging me to write again at all, @thedissonantverses for cheering me on, and the OG Lighthouse writing group for bearing with me through my moments of panic.

Dock Town Noir: New Chapter Soon
New chapter soon, this will be the second to last chapter, so I can't give much a preview, but I hope it's worth the wait. Also, stay tuned, I have a surprise coming.
Preview:
The hush of the Serpent swallowed the street noise, silk curtains muffling laughter and music somewhere beyond. At the entry hall’s desk, she spotted a familiar pair of hands idly holding a serial, face buried into the lines. When the paper lowered however, Min’s unmistakable profile greeted her instead: calm, sly, eyes cool with humor Neve knew would follow with mischief.
“No Hazel tonight?” Neve asked, lifting a brow.
A ghost of a smile curved Min’s mouth. “Ivy thought she’d ruin the mood.”
The tension slipped from Neve’s shoulders as she let out a laugh. “I can’t argue that.”
The silence thickened, stretching on until Neve forced herself to clear her throat. “So… are you supposed to give me instructions, or do I just stand here and wait?”
“Someone’s impatient,” Min replied, returning to her reading without another glance. “No, I was just told to wait for you, not discuss work business and push the button when you arrive.”
Slowly, the madam’s finger pushed in a rune on top of the desk and she resumed her reading.
Scoffing, Neve shook her head. She might as well have been dealing with Hazel at this point.
She shifted her weight, restless, nerves fraying until the rice paper doors finally parted.

New Chapter: Dock Town Noir
Chapter 16: Writ of Rebellion
Rated: E
Pairing: Rook/Neve
Summary:
As the city’s unrest simmers beneath the surface, Neve uncovers the truth behind Selene’s tangled identities. With revolution looming and a coup quietly gathering strength, Minrathous becomes a chessboard where every secret and every sacrifice could decide its fate. The time for shadows is ending; soon, the city will burn or be reborn.
Preview:
She raised her hand again, finger tracing a slow, taunting circle through the air as she stepped in closer, her presence pressing into the space between them. The tip hovered just above Neve’s forehead. "So," she purred, “are you ready?”
This was a bad idea, and Neve knew it; but no better path presented itself and her options were vanishing. So, with a reluctant nod, she gestured for Selene to continue.
"Close your eyes. It makes the transition easier."
One last breath and then darkness.
The world spun past her. Light fracturing beneath her eyelids, colors flaring too fast to follow. When the motion stopped, she opened her eyes slowly.
White engulfed everything.
No floor beneath her.
No ceiling overhead.
Just a void of white stretching endlessly in all directions. She stood in the center, coat heavy across her shoulders, the one anchor she could trust. Her hand found its hem, fingers brushing familiar stitching, silk lining cool and real; but it did little to ease the tension coiling in her chest.
"Selene?"
The name echoed once, then vanished.
Really smart Neve, trust the blood mage and get stuck in a mind prison.
When she turned, Selene was suddenly there and she had to resist the urge to lash out, fists tightening at her sides.
Of course. Still playing games.
"What is this?" Neve asked, voice wary.
"The space in between."
A frown pulled at Neve's brow. "That doesn’t mean anything. Between what? This doesn’t feel like the Fade."
"Depends on what you're really asking." Selene gestured at the blank world around them. "Think of it more like a mind palace."
Crossing her arms, Neve rolled her eyes as she looked around. "Some mind palace, it's empty."
"It’s empty because I haven’t built anything yet." The blood mage snapped, then she took a deep breath and continued, her voice almost regretful. "I wanted to... build my old home, but every time I try I... I just can't."
That was... oddly vulnerable. What was the angle here? With Selene there had to be one. She wouldn't give this kind of information—if it were true—for free. Neve would have to be cautious, she wouldn't get caught off guard again.
Well, if she could help it.
Before she could respond, the woman held her hand up to stop her. "The answers will come. Let the game unfold detective."
Then, with a snap of her fingers, the stillness broke.
