Some spoilery discussion below the cut, including some sexual talk.

If I have any regrets for how this series has gone, I honestly wish I'd included on-screen sex from the start. There's plenty of discussion and innuendo, as well as a few fade to black moments, but the closest I have is an episode in S7 when Roman and Celine finally get some alone time, but it's fade to black repeatedly cut through with chaos. But sex is such a major part of this story, and I feel like this playlist out of all of them showed this even back in 2019 when I made it.

(and yes, I've written some sex scenes that didn't end up staying in. And there's one in particular between Noah and Jude [neither of which are a part of this playlist] that I'm particularly happy with. It's all healing and care and yes, bondage. I alluded to it in the squirrel funeral scene in S4, so it's canon. But dropping the scene in after 4 seasons of a particular style wouldn't have worked well.)

But the playlist. Again, mostly vibes like the New Winslow one.

The creation of the Wachusett Reservoir meant that large portions of the towns of West Boylston, Boylston, Clinton, and Sterling Massachusetts were flooded in order to form it. It was completed about twenty years before work started on the Quabbin Reservoir, which was created and connected because the Wachusett and Ware reservoirs weren't going to cut it for the Boston area's water needs.

When the Quabbin went in, four entire towns were disincorporated and the people forced to leave. New Winslow is a fictional town, but in the story, it is located in the Quabbin area. A lot of the history in the story comes from the idea that it took some time to solidify which towns would be flooded and what would happen.

A family member of mine has a fantastic old map of West Boylston, where you can see the railroad tracks and buildings zigzagging through what is now just water and wilderness.

This postcard, dated April 3, 1908, reads: Dear Cousins, How are you all up that way, we are all well. How you made any sugar yet, I heard someone say that it wasn’t a very good year for making sugar. Will write as soon as I have time. With love, U.B. It was sent to Mrs. A.A. Patten in Coventry, Vermont - a small town near the Canadian border. The “sugar” discussed is presumably maple sugar, commonly made in the spring. The postcard shows the spillway of the Wachusett Reservoir in Massachusetts, which was constructed from 1897 to 1905. The arch bridge carries the Central Massachusetts Railroad, which was relocated for several miles during reservoir construction - including a tunnel through a ridge and a long viaduct over another outflow from the reservoir. The Wachusett Dam is still under construction in the background, which indicates that the photo from which the postcard was created was taken somewhat before the postcard was actually made. It is a divided back postcard, with message and address on the same side, which was not allowed until 1907. The Central Massachusetts Railroad and the spectacular viaduct are no more. The dam still holds the reservoir, and the abandoned tunnel is scheduled to become part of the Mass Central Rail Trail. The arch bridge in the postcard still exists as well, and you can walk over it as part of the rail trail.

Folxlore is a queer horror anthology created by In The Works theatre company, of which our production manager Ross McFarlane is a founding member. It was also sound designed and scored by Amber @tincanaudio!

Ella also directed on @re-dracula - which has just restarted its run (it's Dracula season folks!) Ella is also directing the team's upcoming adaptation of Carmilla, starring Méabh de Brún as Carmilla and Sasha Sienna as Laura.
