The next time I see somebody describe Albatross snapping and going on the massacre, something that's the result of decades of mental, verbal, and psychological abuse and gaslighting from his sister and fellow peers, as him being "insane all along" I'M snapping and dropping everything to write a 20k+ fanfic that's basically his entire life's story

Istg putting the sheets on my bed triggers my fight or flight response every single time. Like, no matter what I do it ends up looking horrible, especially white sheets, and it is never aligned perfectly so it takes me literally like half an hour. And then I have to deal with looking at a million wrinkles and in like two days having the sheets start to fall off my bed because they weren't put on evenly and I move around in my sleep a lot. Plus, no one ever showed me the best way to go about doing it, so I have literally no idea what I am doing. I know for a fact it shouldn't be as hard as I find it but istfg I am trying not to freak out every single time I pull over the sheet to straighten it and it comes undone on one of the corners.
I don't know if I am just stupid or something, but putting on sheets is awful 0/10 would not recommend

a small update on the cicada molting from my last post
it seems that it was an unsuccessful molt. after almost two hours the cicada hadn't even gotten its head out of its exoskeleton. about an hour before that though, it seemed to have been leaking hemolymph fluid from around its mouth and legs, and only one front leg was holding onto the tree. while i am not a cicada expert, based off the research i did and what i could find, it didn't seem like it was going to make it.
around two hours in i did attempt to mist the air around it to get the humidity up higher as it was kind of windy. i couldn't for the life of me find the ideal humidity percentage for cicadas to molt, but it was around 66% during the process, i don't know if that is too high, too low, or just right. overall, nothing changed and i eventually did resort to gently peeling back some of the molted skin on the head, but it didnt help.
in hindsight i shouldn't've tried to intervene at all as i literally couldn't find any reliable sources on how to help cicadas molt properly. plus, a large percentage of molts are unsuccessful anyway and it's usually best to just let nature take its course. here are a few pictures i had taken during the process though as it was still an interesting process to witness
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image ID]: There are three images above that showcase a short portion of the molting process of a cicada. The earliest taken image showcases when the brown outer exoskeleton first split at the back, revealing the newer, inner exoskeleton inside, a bright shade of green. The second image showcases this same thing, but with a larger split and more of the cicada inside showing. Image three showcases this same thing but from a side angle.

Tumblr media
it was just kinda struggling to right itself while in the road, so i scooped em up and took em with me. his name is bob and he was a very polite lad.
then i also found this one that is getting ready to molt. id never seen one that hadn't molted before so im curious to watch and wait for it to emerge.

I don't know why some people get so wound up about artists giving seers a teardrop scale or something cool like a "third eye scale". It's cool!! Why are the mind readers the only ones to get something like that? Why don't seers get a physical and easily recognizable warning sign too?

Do you think dragons lay a egg every month? I'm honestly curious. I guess it would be the same as lizards, and they do. I wonder if they eat the eggs like how lizards do, wouldn't that be catabolism tho. Smhhhhhhh
An interesting question I've also thought about before and would be glad to give my view on!
Everything is below the cut, realized afterwards that I wrote more than expected lmao
Personally, I don't really think that dragons would lay an egg every month. I imagine they do reproduce similarly to some species of lizards. They would only lay an egg (or more) after they have already bred. It just seems like a pretty massive waste of energy for larger dragons to be laying a pretty large egg every single month. The larger something is, the more energy it needs to survive, and if a dragon the size of, or bigger, than an elephant were to be laying eggs every month with no guarantees they hatch, that's just a waste. This also seems to be true for dinosaurs, with a lot of fossil records indicating they laid eggs that already had an embryo developing inside instead of them being fertilized after being laid. It just seems like it'd be more beneficial for larger creatures to guarantee their energy is spent on live young than lay a bunch of eggs every month and hope a male comes along and fertilizes them.
I feel like I might've worded that weirdly, but basically, I imagine dragons only lay fertilized eggs. The laying of unfertilized eggs is very rare if it does happen and would mean that breeding was unsuccessful, or that something was wrong with the female dragon. Though, I could see smaller species of dragons laying eggs more often, maybe even reproducing through parthenogenesis, but I doubt the typical large dragon would do that. Especially since there doesn't seem to be any evidence of dinosaurs having done that, and dinosaurs are probably the closest comparison to dragons that we have.
Now, for your second question about cannibalism, it seems unlikely if we're assuming that it's our current world with one species of dragon shoved on it. If there were multiple types of dragons, again like dinosaurs, there could be smaller species of dragons that feed on the eggs of larger ones. Otherwise, I doubt a dragon would eat its own or another's eggs for a meal unless it was in some sort of high stress situation. Some lizard mothers will eat their eggs before a predator gets a chance to eat them as to not have their energy spent on the eggs wasted. This could happen with dragons possibly, but again, unlikely if it's just dragons in our current world, predators would be practically nonexistent for large dragons, it'd be more likely with smaller dragons. I should also mention hamsters eating their young if they don't have enough milk to feed them all, dragons might do something similar, but only if dragons were to actually care for their young.
Honestly, so much of this depends on the scenarios we're given, so it's pretty hard to give an answer when there could be many possible factors to consider.

Goober as in good and cool artist, not a peanut
this is probably the funniest thing i have ever gotten and it honestly should not have been as funny as i found it.
genuinely i laughed out loud for a good few minutes because i was so confused. i got sent two of these for context, screenshot below, and i was honestly so confused as to what i was even being told, because this was from my AMA thing.
Tumblr media
and then, out of curiosity, i googled the definition of goober because i was for a second nervous that this word had some horrible, awful meaning and "peanut" was just some nicer way to put it. so i look it up, and i get this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
istg i laughed for so long after this. i dont know if its common knowledge that goober means peanut and i am just behind, but this was the funniest thing ive experienced in quite a while. thank you anon, youve made my night
