So my focus has been on punctuality, not on making time for meditation lately, but I’m ready to inactivate my punctuality measure and simply focus on sitting 2x a day. So far I have 25.8%, which is a bit of an improvement from 23%, but not much. This NEEDS to be where I focus my energy moving forward.
The issues are many, but here are some:
1. Returning home late and either wanting fun, Daniel time, chores, or to rest.
2. Not having enough time in the am
3. No longer doing as many midday sits

With my trip and spending time with Daniel I haven't been able to get much meditation in. I'm hoping with the new school year I will shape up a bit.

Holiday Limbo
December 26, 2018
Not sure it’s worth it to redo my routine because I only have 4 days total where I get up on an odd schedule before I get back on to January, but maybe I will when I get time.
For now I can say that when I’m at Daniel’s house I’ve been doing makeup when he’s doing breakfast so that helps move things along. When I’m alone at my house I try to do it when I’m sitting to eat my treat.
That seems to be a good new habit I’m doing!
Also, I’ve been splashing water on my face when I remember, which has been a good habit. Definitely wakes me up.
I chanted for the first time today in a while. It felt good but I still wasn’t too focused on things I need to change. Mostly perspective shifts, but that’s still helpful. It’s harder to stay focused on the mini-butsudan as my phone is bigger.
One good note is that I’ve been timing my shower and dishes which is usually WORST case scenario 20 minutes if I put the timer on at 15 and I start sitting down to do them.

Adjusting schedule to different types of days
When I’m with my boyfriend or when I need to go in late there are 2 different types of routines. How do I maintain my habits while also enjoying a diverse schedule?
When I go in late, usually 10:30, then my routine should be as follows:
Leave at 9:50
Makeup and treat 9:40
Dressed 9:30
Shower and dishes 9:15
Chanting 9:00
Walking 8:55
Eating 8:50
Sit and Wash face 8:40
My Schedule for Daniel’s House should be:
Leave an hour ahead of time - usually by 8:05
Chant 7:50
Dressed 7:40
Wash Dishes 7:20
Eat Breakfast and makeup 700
Sit up and splash face 650-7.

The previous Recurrence app didn’t give loud enough alarms. I will try this TimeTune app instead.

I like that this talks about getting bored. I get bored on the treadmill. So it only gets 5 mins.

6/21 - I'm baaack!
So...this problem of not waking up on time for chanting and other pleasurable activities has resurfaced. Once again I've been crawling back into bed after my alarm goes off and snoozing until the very last minute. It's a dangerous habit because I have the potential to sleep past the time I need to wake up and I can be late to work or wherever I need to be. I've already had a couple mishaps. So I'm back... I'll review some of my old entries and see what I can do to at least avoid this tomorrow morning. I think part of it is just having a vow to not leave myself vulnerable without daimoku. Making a solid determination to make sure I am in rhythm with the universe. Speaking of which, I'm going to go chant now!

3/10 Success!
I was on time to work. :D I got my daimoku in and I was mostly makeup’d as well. I was showered and I thought of a cool fun spring dress that I hadn’t worn in some time.
I realized that my smart alarm really does work. It almost makes the Pandora music and the small phone alarm unnecessary and annoying...but at the same time, it does give me something urgent to attend to...otherwise I could easily justify going back into bed.
I also realized how active my mind is when I’m on autopilot. I had trouble focusing when I was chanting that night and in the morning, mostly because of my wandering mind. It’s definitely a reason to continue my meditation and mindfulness practice!
