If a child wants to make little paper snowflakes as an arts and crafts project, that seems fine, but they do need scissors, so you have to provide a pair.

But when, tragically, they end up cutting one of the other children, it’s time to take away the big-kid scissors and give them a pair of safety scissors.

I feel moved to share an update for anyone interested.

Seven months on, Diva is doing well. I daresay she’s made a full recovery. We’re still paying her veterinary bills down, but she’s happy and healthy. The only lingering effect seems to be her voice.

She used to be very chatty and she still is, but everything comes out as little squeaks and creaks now. But we still love to chat with her.

It’s honestly amazing. There was a point that we took her in to be looked at and we were really very scared that we wouldn’t be bringing her home. And here she is, apparently hale and healthy.

I’m afraid we can’t rule out some underlying issue. Clearly something caused her episode. But so far, she seems fine. And no matter what, she’s had seven happy months I really never thought she would.

Here is a top secret photo from one of her undercover missions. It may look like rumpled bedding, but if you look closely, you can make out one very likely looking lump.

And here’s one of her on HOLIDAY! We traveled with her and she stayed in a hotel with us and everything! It was all very strange, but she managed quite well. What a brave girl. So bold.

Anyway. To all who were following Diva and her struggles, she is doing much better. We can’t be certain she doesn’t have some kind of underlying trouble, but we’re grateful for the time we’ve had with her, and hopeful for much more.

Seems like everyone needs money these days, and I know I don’t have a lot of followers, but if anyone who sees this can boost or donate something to my KoFi or to a GoFundMe we set up, it would be much appreciated.

Our eldest cat, Diva, had to have multiple emergency blood transfusions, setting us back over $8k in money that we do not have, and she’s not even out of the woods yet.

My car needs a substantial amount of work, and all of this is made worse by the fact that I got laid off last week, along with the rest of my team.

So, while I don’t love asking this, anything would help.

Edited to add: 7/5 and Diva's tentatively doing better. She's home, her appetite is coming back, and she's getting back to her normal levels of chattiness and energy. We've still got work to do, but things are looking up.

7/8 and Diva's still improving. We've had a few causes for concern, but nothing outside the realm of what's probably expected for a senior cat who's recovering. Probably the worst news is that she's developed a heart murmur after her final transfusion. But while we're keeping an eye on that, she's also feeling well enough to fight us about taking her medication, and to want to look out the window on the car rides to/from the vet. She even jumped on the bed twice Sunday night, which she hasn't felt up to doing since before we took her in! We've had some major scares, but there's cause for optimism.
