A fabled book said to contain lost information from every country. It's said that the greatest minds from every era have contributed to it. Most people don't believe it exists. No one knows where exactly it's located and are unsure how to even begin looking for it, as the clues surrounding it are vague and centuries old. It is considered one of the holy grails of treasure hunting.

Mehet
Mehet has two major biomes: The desert in the north and the jungle in the south. Five thousand years ago, all of Mehet was a jungle. The northern half burned to the ground and never regrew (known as the Burning of the North). No one really knows why but legends say that captured Phoenixes burned it with their magic as punishment for keeping them captive. The Keris River flows from the Marhes Sea through the middle of the continent into what is now known as the Kalis Jungle.
Before the Burning of the North, Mehet was primarily composed of city-nations centered around gem mines. Many of these mines had flammable minerals in them that caught fire during the Burning, forcing them to move. Most people now live along the Keris River in cities that are all connected, collectively referred to as The City.
The southern city-nations were primarily controlled by a species call “Meians”. The Meia were bipedal feline beings. The Meian Empire spanned the entire south of Mehet and at least nine islands to the south and east of Southern Mehet for nearly four thousand years before the Empire fell two thousand years ago and the Meians died out. No one has tried to reclaim the cities because no one knows why the Meians and the people they ruled died.
What remains of the jungle is very thick and dense, making it very difficult to get through. Explorers, archaeologists, adventurers, and countless others have gone into the jungle. None have ever come back. This has lead to many legends, superstitions, and horror stories about it.

Phoenix
Phoenixes are immortal firebird shapeshifters. In animal form, they are a large bird with six wings that resembles a red and gold peacock. In human form, the only distinguishing feature is their gold eyes and high body temperature.
Their most well known magic is fire magic, though many speculate they have other magics. They were originally from an island called Raisor but many that left have been unable to return for unknown reasons. They now live in a variety of warm countries. Most people are unaware that Phoenixes exist as anything more than myth.

Raisor
Raisor is the home of the Phoenixes. It is comprised of one larger island and one smaller one. The larger island, Raisor Proper, is a permanently active volcano. The Phoenixes combat this by using their magic to shape the lava into rivers.
The rivers are fairly slow moving but once they reach the ocean, they are met by large marine animals called Baslua (translates to lava eater) who then eat the lava. The rest of the island is quite warm, so there is a wide variety of plants and animals.
Raisor is shrouded in magic that hides it from the rest of the world. There have been many attempts to locate the island by different countries but none have been successful. The magic disoriented them and they passed the island by or wound up turned around.
