A few years ago a buddy of mine from Colorado started a magazine called "Four" representing the four states around the area. Well after one issue we lost funding and unfortunately the magazine kind of withered away. I was fortunate enough to shoot some photos in the first issue and when working on the second I did an interview with my friend, Elijah Duran. This was around Spring 2012? So bare with the relativity, haha. The photo was shot by Andy Garcia; Heelflip @ Muska Ditch in Albuquerque, NM. (The ditch got the name in Fulfill The Dream when Chad was the first to do a trick into it, with the exception of Squints no one has done anything until this Heelflip!)

How long have you been skating?

About 6 years now!

Your little sister skates too, did you guys start at the same time?

Yeah, pretty much at the same time!

Do you guys push each other?

Oh yeah definitely, we push each other to go for it and learn new tricks.

What got you into skating?

I'd have to say my friends…as well as the THPS games. (Laughs)

Oh, no shame! I was definitely won over on skateboarding when Pizza Hut gave out a demo of THPS 1 for Playstation. Good times!

Have you had any injuries skating? If so, what's the worst.

I've broken both of my ankles. My right one twice! It's the worst injury, you're out for like 2 months. It sucks, but that's about it.

This is a pretty random question but, what's it like going to school with a smartphone? I always wonder.

(Laughs) It's ok. I just use it to text my girlfriend, I don't think I could get away with cheating on a test or anything.

I'd be lurking instagram and checking emails all day. I couldn't imagine!

I don't have an iPhone so I can't check instagram.

Do you have instagram?

Yeah! I use it off my iPod Touch.

Awesome! I know a few people who do it that way, what is your username?

@elijahdur I think…that sounds right. It's simple.

Back to the skating, you're filming for the upcoming BZ Skate shop video. How is that coming along so far?

It's going good, I'm trying to push myself hard so I can get hooked up by a shoe company. But at the same time i'm trying not to hurt myself. It would suck to have an injury right now!

What shoe company would you like to ride for?

I would love to ride for Vans, those are my favorite shoes ever. I like any shoe that's thin. I could skate Vans Classics all the time!

When is the deadline for the video?

August 1st I believe.

Is this your first video to be filming for?

Yes and no. I've filmed for homie videos, nothing as serious as this one! We never had a good camera.

I totally see where you're coming from! Nothing like some homie cam though. From the sound of it, you're having a good time working on this video.

Hell yeah I am, I just want to put out a sick part! One not even my friends knew I was capable of.

You've definitely been proving yourself every day! Showing not only me, but all of the guys that you can shred!

(Laughs) Thanks man.

Speaking of shredding, you're the second person (Muska being the first) to flip into the infamous ditch! Tell me about that, what was going through your head?

Uhh…I don't know. Just go for it and hope I don't fall. But that is my favorite thing to skate…ditches.

That's a good mentality, thinking can certainly hurt at times. That heel flip is so sick man!

How long have you ridden for BZ?

About 2 years, I got hooked up at the end of 7th grade.

Awesome! Pat is the man. 

Hell yeah, Pat is so sick. He helps everyone out a lot. 

What type of music are you into?

I love country. (Laughs) just kidding! I don't really have any preference. Kid Cudi is my favorite artist though.

No preference huh? If I edited your part to some terrible pop music, would you be bummed? I might edit the whole video to Britney Spears just to see if I can get away with it.

Why not, that would be sick! As long as I get 'Toxic' for my part. (Laughs)

What is your favorite skate park in Albuquerque?

Uhhh…I would have to say La Cueva park. That place is so fun!

Who are your influences in skateboarding?

No worries! The Locals for sure, Alfred Flores, Dan Lu and Nelson. Those guys are my biggest influences. Nelson put the word in for me at BZ.

Marking its Ten Year Anniversary, that’s right TEN YEARS…I thought I would upload my first official full length video; Last Try. This video is full of embarrassing memories and awful clothing choices along side poor trick selection, all the classic attributes of an old video. Thanks to my sister for holding onto the only remaining SVCD copy of this video and the program I found yesterday to convert said disc! I hope you all enjoy the horrendous film that is Last Try.

(p.s. - I did make one video before this but it never made it to a disc and the computer it was on crashed.)

My good friend Sydney runs a sick website called 'The Seasick' that you should all go check out!! This weeks feature is Tyler “Squints” Imel and the jams that get him stoked!
