And stop apologizing onfg I love you all, the messages aren't a bother. IM JUST IN SHOCK THERES AN ACTIVE FANDOM FOR SOMETHING WE ALL DESPISED WHEN IT CAME OUT- it has finally grown on me, though. To a point. I cannot stress it enough how much this play both pisses me off & gets me into fangirl vibes.

Everyone seems to hate the Voldemort-had-a-kid plot the most, but to me him wanting a kid actually makes sense. In the books, Wormtail brings him fully back in a new body using a ritual that involves needing flesh and blood and Tom Riddle Sr’s bones. I wouldn’t be surprised if Voldemort thought it would be useful to have a family member that could contribute to such a ritual again if he ever needed it. And well, all of his other family are dead… lol. So his only option is to create a kid for himself.

I also think he’d like having his own child to be a powerful heir and follower that he could actually trust, because he doesn’t fully trust any of his other death eaters, he says as much about Lucius and even Bellatrix after they both fumbled the horcruxes he gave them to protect.

Not to mention… he always wanted seven horcruxes, but he never meant for Harry to be one. That happened by accident. I’ve always been curious what would’ve been his true final horcrux if he ever got around to making one. And since he made Nagini (a living creature) a horcrux, I kinda wondered if that was meant to be a precursor to him turning a child into a horcrux? I think he’d see it as a twisted joke, like if Dumbledore (or anyone else) ever found out about the horcruxes, it would mean they’d have to kill a child in order to kill Voldemort, and he knows Dumbledore & the Order probably couldn’t bring themselves to do that. (This is all just me theorizing of course… but to me it makes sense as motivation for why he’d want to have a child)

I’ve seen a lot of arguments say Delphi being Voldemort’s daughter doesn’t make sense because Voldemort can’t feel love but like… that’s very naive thinking to me. Love isn’t required to reproduce lol. I can see him willing to have kid for many reasons, but of course all of those reasons involve him using the kid as a tool to abuse and manipulate…

Anyway sorry for rambling lol. But I agree with all the rest—Cursed Child’s plot really isn’t as bad as everyone says. I love seeing Harry dealing with his ptsd and struggling with fatherhood, to me that makes sense for him. The story just wasn’t what people were expecting, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

final words on cursed child: it's giving us the ptsd-harry as opposed to the all was well-harry, including harry aging and father-son conflict that harry never experienced as a child as well as pretty much anybody else (on the "good side") in this series. we also revisit some people and places and even storylines (ginny knowing tom riddle well!) while not copy pasting the og story? that's actually really cool.

only thing I didn't like was the voldemort had a child-plot, that made very little sense. and while I do see that was a pretty big part of the story, I thoroughly enjoyed everything else, so why be a hater?

Notice that Ginny is suddenly a mean girl in the Half-Blood Prince when she officially becomes Harry’s love interest. It’s only when the writing gives her Draco’s personality that Harry starts to like her in that way.

Yeah, and I think that’s why a lot of the fandom have trouble seeing them as Slytherin. We’re too used to Slytherins being evil or at least just jerks, and Albus and Scorpius aren’t that.

genuine question, why on earth were albus and scorpius sorted into slytherin? like I understand plot reasons, but they’re the two least slytherin-y characters in harry potter. the plot could have been just as interesting if it was draco having to deal with scorpius being in gryffindor with his gryffindor mate.

Everyone seems to think they’re not very Slytherin-y (I���ve even read plenty of fanfics that place them in other houses…) but personally I disagree hard. Both boys exemplify Slytherin’s main traits. Both are very ambitious and determined—just not in a greedy/evil sense.

Scorpius is determined to be kind no matter what, even despite everyone seeing him as a death eater’s son, as Voldemort’s son, etc… despite all the bullying he endures, he refuses to give in to bitterness or give in to the stereotypes that are expected of him and continues to strive to be the kindest, warmest-hearted person he can be and prove others wrong about him. He’s determined to be happy and enjoy his time at Hogwarts despite everything he has to be sad about.

Albus is the definition of ambitious—him trying to prove himself to his dad and to the world was the whole focus of the play.

Both are also very cunning and resourceful, as we see throughout the story.

Sure, they may have some characteristics of the other houses: clever, brave, loyal. But that’s to be expected, everyone is capable of exhibiting some traits that the other houses are known for. Just look at Hermione—she’s very clever like a Ravenclaw but is in Gryffindor. But for Albus and Scorpius, it’s their ambition and determination that stands out the most and really defines their characters, that’s why they’re Slytherin.

Albus spending WAYYYY TOO MUCH TIME in the Malfoy Manor

Like seriously, at this point the Manor has EXTRA EVERYTHING for Albus- extra clothes, extra cutlery, extra snacks, an extra chair in the dining room- EVERYTHING (except a bed tho- Scorpius is WAY too happy to share).

And the Malfoys? They're more than happy to have another member in their manor to fill up the quiet space 😁

At this point neither of them need to pack things to go to eachother's houses anymore- they can just walk in eachother's houses and already having extra stuff for them in their house

This is kinda weird- but Albus randomly sneaking out from his house and flooing to the Manor at like 3 A.M RIGHT IN SCORPIUS' BEDROOM.

Albus' bed in the dorm probably hasn't been slept on since like 4th year- EVERYONE knows he shares a bed, probably cuddling Scorpius.
