Any tips for drawing hands from both reference and memory?

I mostly draw hands from my memory but for starter I’m imagining fingers on hand as tiny legs with 3 joints so it’s easier to picture how the fingers bend and where the joints meet.

Also I made a tutorial a long time ago but I still keep these in mind. It might be hard at first but through thorough observation drawing hands can be easy by breaking down the shapes, in the end practice is the key 😅

I hope this isn’t too confusing!

Tuesday Tips - Embrace The Nose / It’s very easy to take shortcuts when drawing the nose, and honestly, it’s fine most of the time. The nose is right in the center of the face and can unintentionally draw a lot of attention if constructed poorly. But when it’s embraced, it can do wonders. It’s key to track the facial features at odd angles and can bring a ton a personality to a character design. Got asked to draw a hair tutorial, so here’s something quickly-cobbled for y’all. 

Hair, much like everything else, has weight and volume, so it can be marked out with simple shapes. I prefer using amorphous blobs over more strict, geometric shapes, since hair is flowy. Long hair can be narrowed down to a single shape and divided later, while short hair (for me) is easier drawn using a multitude of smaller wisps.

Might make a second part of this for braids, updos and curly hair, too.

shading colour tips

hey yall its me the Art Mom™ to help you shade pretty

rule 1: DO NOT SHADE WITH BLACK. EVER. IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD. 

red- shade with a slightly darker shade of purple

orange- slightly darker and more saturated shade of red

yellow- i think like..a peach could work but make it a really light peach

green- shade with darker and less saturated shade of blue or teal

blue- shade with purple

purple- a shade thats darker than the purple you’re using and maybe a little pink (MAYBE blue)

pink- darker shade of red

white- a really light lavender or blue..or i guess any really light colour??

black- okay listen dont use pure black to colour anything unless you want to leave it with flat colours because you cant really shade black lol

grey- a slightly darker shade of purple or blue (less saturated)

brown- slightly darker and less saturated shade of purple or red

aaaaand thats all i got lol. let me know if there is anything i should add to this list!!
