For me, there’s two things: one, I really liked the idea of Ethan dying at the end of the plane sequence. I think it would have been a nice way to wrap up his story, with finally getting peace in death. Two, I’m not mad they didn't do that, it doesn't affect how much I liked the movie. Two, since Ethan survives, and all the callbacks to 3, I would have liked a scene at the end between Ethan and Julia. I get why they didn't but it would have worked for me.
