Zoru + Ball: Sport Zoru! ⚾
What's the next ability I want to combine Zoru with? One of my personal least favorites, PFFFT. But when you mix Ball with Zoru, he'll make full use of Kirby's roundness to become an athlete and gain a varied repertoire of moves with him.
Sport Zoru! A heck of an all-rounder player of all kinds!
The Ball ability is, personally, waaay too finicky and difficult to control in the games, but I still love the concept of just making Kirby a ball (and especially in the spin-off games). I've had this idea of giving Zoru the sporty feel for a while now!
This time around, I wanted this ability's design to have a slightly zanier feel, like how the abilities in Kirby 64 were sometimes so strange and had that "that looks wild" feeling. The main thing you'll notice is the baseball pattern on his red belly and the sports gear he dawns. But you'll also notice that his tail has become a sort of golf bag, to hold his sports tools!
His moveset takes a more ranged approach, where Zoru performs various maneuvers, and Kirby is the sports ball! Kirby will be launched in many different manners towards enemies, as seen with moves like Rally and its follow-ups.
Zoru can also Volley his enemies with his tail, tumbling enemies above him at an arc. Once he does, he can charge up for a big hit.
And boy, does he have a gnarly swing and quite the skillset.
As a bonus for reading this far in, here's one of the timelapses because I actually remembered to use that functionality in Clip Studio this time!

Crossing once more
A sort of thoughtful drawing, because a lot has happened since the start of the year! I moved! And got a new job! And a lot of my life has been changing dramatically!
It's been a lot to sort of parse and take in, but I'm slowly going through this new change

More old drawings, but these are more than half a year old! A friend of mine wanted to introduce me and a few friends to Etrian Odyssey and have us all play the game with our characters modded into it.
So! After several months of delay, I finally got around to drawing my and Sakura's dnd characters in the game's style! I like to think they came out pretty true to the target aesthetic! I tried my best to sort of adapt them into the classes they were ultimately going to have.
if you know anything about Etrian Odyssey, ignore the fact that I gave Thorn a shield, because I was told that the Shogun(?) class can't equip shields and I did not know until after I was done PFFFT

Some scribbles after the new year came in! Frankly I was still recovering from the busy winter semester and all the stress that came in. Even as I write this now, I'm still trying to get the wind back in my sails, but I think it's been slowly coming back!

This was from last year! Life took over pretty heavily towards the end of the year, but I still wanted to make something as it ended

Zoru + Paint: Graffiti Zoru! 🎨
Taking a much more colorful approach, when you get the Paint ability with Zoru, you get Graffiti Zoru! Since Zoru is a rather rambunctious fellow, giving him this feel, along with some Jet Set Radio inspiration, felt really perfect for him. In fact, it felt really fitting that I ended up animating a l'il intro for him (which, unsurprisingly, extended the end of the project by a considerable amount).
youtube
This ability can actually be considered somewhat of a situational ability in Kirby, like how Wheel is designed for long stages or Hi-Jump for vertical ones. As for Graffiti, the main selling points of this ability are his mobility options and using paint and tricks to propel him forward!
Since he's now on his roller blades, he's a fair bit faster now, with the tradeoff that he is a bit slippery. A lot of his moveset revolve around carrying the flow of Zoru's movement. He can use paint to blast through enemies or paint the scenery, as well as use the environment to reach new places through rails, ramps, and wallrides.

The last cookie
And finally, finishing off this year's art fight, I've wanted to draw FunSizeMini's, well, Mini! Was at a crosswords for how to draw this l'il guy, especially given the time remaining, but I took it as fitting to draw this fox with that namesake there.
HOO, it only took me like a month to upload these since Art Fight, hah. I can definitely see why people get into the zone with this. Though personally, the prospect of drawing for friends I enjoy and for artists I appreciate and admire definitely was my driver.
I don't think I've ever drawn as much as I did in a long while, and it was such a good period of creative energy

the littlest and fuzziest hug
Among all the art fight attacks that I've done, this is probably the one featuring the smallest dudes, and I love them. This one's for Lukewarmcoffee's Fuzz and Cotton, and I absolutely had to get these guys for just being the definition of little guys.

Flashcard quiz
Another piece of friendly fire revenge with Olaxis's Mocha and Fen! I had a lot of choices to pick from, but since I was on a roll with doing these duo character pieces (and these two emanated a really nice cafe/library pair), I definitely wanted to stylized them with my way of scribbling characters out, haha!
ALSO! I simply feel the need to share what their attack to me was. I just really love how they did Zoru, and the l'il animated sprites is just so perfectly him, yet Kirby-esque, oh I love it dearly

Like bird, like son
So since I already was drawing Tech's kenku for Art Fight, I was definitely gonna do the other bird that was present in the same campaign. Ghosty's Vyrn has been on my backlog for a while, and I finally get to do this mute bard with the incentive I needed
Fun l'il fact, even to this day, Ghosty has yet to draw, like, the whole bottom half of Vyrn. So everyone's who drawn it until now has had to come up with something on the fly. It's kinda fun we're all spitballing, and he's relishing in it, HAH

something tells me you like the color orange
Another one from the drawing backlogs! I'm enamored by Callum's painterly style of animating and then the designs they had, so I really wanted to give it a go! Had a hard time picking between these couple of lads, so it was simply a matter of scribbling 'em both, heh

i don't remember these two from jjk
This is simply an added bonus idea after getting to draw Sen again after so long. Tech offhandedly gave me a commission idea for a specific (and goofy) frame to redraw that lad and his kenku, Drip Drop.
It was a long time ago and was eventually buried...but I didn't forget

"just do a sen drawing"
I would like to simply mention that it has been way too often that when my best friend pays for my food or supplies, he simply responds back with this quote before I tell him I'll pay him back.
So, he is not getting away with that and I'll do more drawings of Sakura's Sen in the process

a hundred thousand galaxies, waiting to be explored!
I had recently stumbled upon Nico G's space cat, Mercurio and his robo bud, and I instantly fell in love with him and just the artist's overall style and feel.
I got really carried away making this piece for an art fight attack, but I'm honestly really glad I did because that idea of a space-y poster was too good to let up. Honestly one of my favorite things I've done this year.
