Important medical news!
Change in the law regarding organ donation in Ireland to commence June 17th
All adults who aren’t in excluded groups will be assumed to be organ donors for 5 major organs when they die unless they apply for the opt-out register.
Unfortunately it’s not specified what the excluded groups are and I’m not sure what the stance is on adults who are not able to withdraw consent.
They are also seemingly creating a pathway for non-directed altruistic kidney donation and some guidelines about a designated family member regarding consent after death.
