People who look at you always blink afterward. Perhaps the colour is that powerful. Perhaps they find themselves on the edge of a nap. They never remember there was anything odd about the sight.

my mission statement is that my art is statistically unlikely to be the Worst anyone’s ever done it, and even if it was, you can’t stop me.

super informal art commissions for civilians affected by war
hey all! want to request art from me and also help make the world less awful? here’s an easy way to do both.
below the cut, you’ll find 32 organizations in 8 different countries currently involved in major wars. choose one (or multiple!) and donate whatever amount you can. minimum donations may vary based on the organization or website, but I personally am not setting a minimum amount to request art.
screenshot some sort of proof of your donation.
send me the screenshot in an ask or as a dm (asks will be answered privately). please remember redact any identifying information if needed though.
tell me what you want me to draw! generally speaking, the more money you donate, the more detailed/time-consuming your art will be.
that’s it!
I will not draw full body nudity or exposed organs, mainly because I honestly don’t think I have a good enough grasp of anatomy for that right now. other than that, I’m willing at least try pretty much anything. if any of this changes in the future, I’ll update this post to reflect that.
also please please let me know if any of these links are broken or incorrect.

Do you want to come in?
The doorframe is meant to look like a window that she is popping out of; I imagine Helen’s doors to be shaped more like windows than Michael’s. I also imagine her clothes and overall appearance to change drastically from the original Helen Richardson.

Hi apologies if you've answered something like this before. I've seen that Black people will have light-coloured palms and soles (ik this is what every person has its just more apparent the darker your skin is). I was wondering if you had any notes on how to draw them properly. And I'm sorry for asking more questions but would you want artists to draw this feature more? And final question do you know what this feature is called? Someone told me they were called voles but I am very confident in thinking that's probably not true since that's something else entirely.
I'm sick because there's a dope lesson someone drew up on this topic, and I wish I could find it again!!
When I paint palms, I usually find a neutral color (and this may take a couple tries; a reference could be essential here! If your character has red or yellow skin undertones, then your palms should reflect that). Then I paint it where the palms should be. Then I take a blending brush and I blend so that the ends of the melanin and the palm don't look like separate entities.
You want that blend to be mid the side of the fingers, and right at the start of the wrist. It may take me a few tries to get it looking natural, but yeah. You could also draw a line in your line art to separate the two colors, remove the line, and blend there.
Tbh, it depends on the art style and how realistic it is. If no one has defined palms or it's a cartoony style, I'll be all right. But if you got white folk with calloused palms and veins in their knuckles, then yeah I need to see melanated people with proper palms.
Gotta be honest, I've only ever heard "palm" 😅 I know the palms of the feet are the "soles", but I've never heard anyone call them the soles of the hand, or "voles". Those are rodents.

My piece for @creatingblackcharacters’s Black History Month challenge! This art was inspired by the Pleiades star cluster; the story of the seven sister stars and why only six are usually visible can be found on every continent in some form or another (except Antarctica), and so it may well be humanity’s oldest surviving story.
This art not only has the seven blue Pleiades stars, but also the red star Aldebaran and the three blue stars that we know today as Orion’s Belt. In Xhosa folklore, the seven stars are the daughters of the sky god, and Aldebaran is their husband. One night, their husband went hunting, but though he shot his arrows at three zebras (Orion’s Belt), they all fell short, and he could not retrieve them because a lion (Betelgeuse) was also watching the zebras. He waits there still.
To my Black fellow artists (of any type or skill level): your stories are worth telling. Your creativity and passion deserve space to thrive, and the world is better with you and your stories in it. You deserve to be respected and celebrated, this month and always.
Also tagging @swan-scribbles, @tamsong, and @aurenflare if you’d like to participate!

for a character we spent comparatively little time with, Calla feels very familiar to me. so when I realized I’d never drawn her before, I had to fix that.
