hi everyone ! it's been a while since i've said anything on this account but i hope you're all doing well and adjusting to the new year. i've never posted an update about cerise before, so i thought this would be a time as good as ever.

simply put: i haven't touched this project in a while. as some of you might know, i'm also the author of when twilight strikes. and since i recently revealed that i took a break from writing for the month of december, that also means i didn't touch the document for this game. as much as i am excited to introduce the worlds of vitharis and notellum to you all, i really needed to focus on my exams and give myself a break. with december over and january here though, i'm finally ready to step back into the writing mindset and get back to work.

as of now, i have about 13,000 words for the first chapter done. i have no expectations for how long the total word count will be, but to give you a better estimate, i think i'm about 1/3 done the chapter in total. of course, this is also keeping in mind that some scenes may be longer than others.

currently, chapter one introduces you to val (the emissary) and reyes (the mythic). both just so happen to be the only characters with selectable pronouns so i've been doing a decent amount of coding writing them. they're also the two characters from vitharis, so that might give you an idea of where we'll be in the opening scene. chapter two is set to introduce you to the rest of the characters, minus silas (the shadow), who is a special case.

i've been a bit mia on tumblr lately, but hopefully 2024 is the year i finally regain my spark to be more active on here. of course, i'll keep you all updated on any new developments and news on when the demo will be released. hope you're all well <3

when you say mc is more depraved, can you give us an example? does that mean we can't play a kind mc?

oops i didn’t mean to use depraved. bad choice of word there ! you can absolutely play as a kind mc, i meant to say that they’re more attuned to morally corrupt things? or that they experience it more often than the average person.

I want to know more about mc, is there something you can share with me?

they're a little more set in personality than my previous work. a lot more sarcastic with their inner monologue, more dry—though this doesn't mean you can't be cheerful or optimistic.

they're also kind of a badass. you kind of have to be when you're trekking across a place like the Abyss. how that affects the mc will be up to you, but something non-negotiable is that they're brave enough to cross the Veil—there's no room for fear.

one of the biggest aspects they're customizable in is mortality. i'm really excited to explore themes of survival and what lengths one will go for to save themself. Notellum especially is a very poor case, but there's only so much you can do before you become part of that crowd. how much the mc sympathizes with others and how they deal with it will be a major aspect of the story.

hi!!! :D I absolutely LOVE the concept for this game and im frankly a little bit obsessed with the characters already, so im super excited to see what it'll be like!! :] i was wondering, because serpentine is aroflux, is the route more of a friendship, queerplatonic, strictly sexual, or something else entirely different or unlabeled/unnamed?? also as a side note it is absolutely awesome to see characters on the aro and ace spectrum in IF games like this, as theres little to no representation oftentimes, so its really cool to see characters that i really really like are aro or ace :D sorry about how long this is, and i hope you have an amazing day!!!

hi ! i think the easiest way to view Serpente's route is in terms of friends with benefits. it's mainly a sexual route and involves a lot of tension from the beginning, but they're not completely opposed to romance. while they're not the type to pine over someone and take them on dates, they'll occasionally do something you might consider as 'romantic', like holding hands or kissing the mc because they think they look pretty.

that doesn't make their bond with the mc any less, just different from say, Reyes or Val. i'm really looking to focus on relationships in this game, whatever context that may be in, so Serpente being aroflux does not mean anything different in terms of the connection they share with the mc.

mc who is touch-starved with kahlys who is touch-averse, 🤡

kahlys being touch-averse doesn't mean they won't give it completely though ! they're just much more of a fan of small touches, like brushing hands and caressing skin than hugging.

if you want an ro that is more touchy, however, serpente and val are the two to go for <33

eeeeek thank you !! i wanted to be a graphic designer for the longest time so i’m always really happy when people compliment my graphics. i like to think i have a good eye for font and colour combos and whatnot <33

What is graysexual? How's it different than ace for Reyes?

hi ! graysexual is a more specific term for someone on the asexual spectrum. it just means reyes feels very little sexual attraction but will occasionally feel the urge (in their case, it's kind of once in a blue moon). asexual can also be an umbrella term, but it's often more used to describe someone who feels no sexual attraction at all.
