hello everyone. after more than a year since v9, here we are. the final volume of sabikui gotdamn bisco: subtitled "the promise". thank you all for sticking around and i hope you enjoy going on one last ride with me.

Bisco feels like he's dying. but this can't be the end, because of that promise he made to milo. he calls out for his partner, n'badu jeering at him for thinking of milo and not his family.

Just as sugar is about to wipe him from existence, red saves him. she reminds bisco of the promise they each made to milo, that they would only die together.

Bisco seems to be completely knocked out as red and n'badu fight, with n'badu still controlling sugar to send out attacks.

Despite being under n'badu's control, sugar seems to retain some sense of self. she hesitates and asks for confirmation when told to act.

Mare arrives to cover for red and help her escape with bisco! he transforms into a giant being made of water to hold back the meteor sugar tries to drop on them.

Red runs, and gets picked up by marie who was riding towards their location on actagawa. red assumes marie is just bisco's friend, and marie seems to assume red is a bastard child of her husband.

Sugar increases her power to crush mare, despite warning n'badu that expending this much soul energy will leave her with too little left to rewrite the universe.

Mare uses a last ditch technique to try directly attacking n'badu, but sugar defends him at the last second and kills mare.

Now they need to collect more souls, but rust (the god from v9) is gone, so they can't even do that. n'badu orders sugar to make a bunch of new rust clones.

She spawns hundreds of glowing, humanoid creatures ("Cosmoz") that sprout bug-like eyes and wings. they disperse all over the world to collect souls. ... In the college AU timeline: Milo is still with domino. domino loredumps to milo about what we learned at the end of v9 regarding n'badu's existence and powers.

Milo suddenly collapses as he feels an overwhelming pain in his left eye. for a moment, he sees through bisco's POV and learns what's happening in the main timeline (which they were unaware of since milo arrived).

Domino asks how the fuck they were able to do that, to which milo simply replies "We just can. Because we're partners."

They go to apollo's lab to get his new soul absorbtion program to fight n'badu with, but apollo turns out to be a cosmoz, who already took his soul and was wearing him like a skinsuit. yep.

the cosmoz tortures domino to get her to reveal where apollo's program is. milo (also gravely injured) finds the courage to get up and save her, after remembering the promise. he can't die here, without bisco at his side.

The spirit of Hope separates from apollo's body (taking the form of tirol). hope installs the soul absorb program into milo.

The soul absorb program gives him the same power as red's soul tattoos - the ability to take others' souls into his own body.

When he activates it, it creates a giant prayer wheel-like ring of hellshrooms that can all independently move and attack based on milo's will. they break the cosmoz's body into dust and milo absorbs it.

Apollo is turned back to normal, but this college au world must end. milo has a somewhat tearful goodbye with domino and co, before absorbing their souls, along with everyone else existing in this timeline, and then the timeline itself.

Then milo has.... a realization? M: (I understand now...! Souls are just... spores! They're spores that that living beings propagate, containing 'possibilities' [potential]. Humans, the Earth, even space itself... all of it is a collection and subsequent propagation of souls... It's all one big mushroom!)

I'm dead (like mare)

To milo's horror, he realizes his clothes have been torn to shreds, revealing the blue, geometric tattoos that have appeared all over his body. his hair has also grown much longer and shinier.

He doesn't really understand how to harness his new powers yet. the spirit of the god inside him insinuates that he is a being that now presides over the death of universes, and making new ones according to his truest wishes and desires. the god helps send him back to the main timeline. ...

Cosmoz have decimated most of japan. everyone left is fleeing to hokkaido but they're moving too slowly. kousuke and nuts arrive to help them along. (remember the kids from v1 who are a bit older now? it was mentioned at the end of v8, but as a reminder: kousuke is a mushroom keeper and nuts is a vanguard leader)

Among the evac caravan is tirol and pawoo (with salt), who at some point met up with marie, red, and bisco (just woke up but can't move). they're hoping to use hokkaido's life energy to heal bisco.

The cosmoz arrive. red tries to go fight, but the others stop her because she's injured and can't fight against n'badu anyway, due to him having complete control over her existence and will likely erase her the moment he finds her again.

Red realizes there's a way for her and bisco to be useful. she can use the soul absorption technique in reverse to transfer her soul power to bisco and heal him instantly, but in turn taking on his injuries.

Bisco jumps into the fight, now full of power that he's 'borrowing from his big sister' (🥺). his appearance is reminiscent of v1 after he came out of the rust - his shirt torn off (but cape in tact of course) revealing his full body tattoos, his missing right arm once again reconstructed and glowing like the sun. he's also having trouble controlling his strength.

Bisco accidentally snaps his bowstring and it whips him in the face, causing him to completely miss the cosmoz he was shooting at. blood gets in his eyes and he can't see.

Shishi shows up to save him! iirc shishi was always pretty polite, but they seem to now speak in a more regal way?

Shishi tries to... flirt with him....????? amli shows up just in time to stop things, but she is PISSED. she chides shishi for becoming like her father, 'including all of his bad traits' (being a manwhore)

Satahabaki and youkan arrive to join the party. the 2 of them get along horribly. amli likes satahabaki quite a lot though.

Everyone is understandably depressed. the world feels like it's ending, and bisco alone wasn't able to save sugar and the world, but...

All they need to do is wait for milo to come back. if bisco and milo combine their power, there might be hope.

Geppei also shows up. she and bisco bicker. she uses her arrow　to summon a giant train to carry everyone to hokkaido. ...

Somewhere up in the atmosphere: the cosmoz return to n'badu and sugar to deliver the souls. it's still not quite enough for sugar to create the new universe yet.

Suddenly, they're attacked by powerful lasers! it's chaika, who has now become the leader of her tribe (and gotten jacked as fuck) (don't forget she's like 15), leading people in battle as they fire massive reibyou-powered cannons.

Sugar quickly figures out that this is merely a diversion, and there would be no problem ignoring them and moving on with their soul-sucking world domination. but n'badu throws a fit and forces sugar to attack, wanting to get revenge on the hokkaido tribe.

At hokkaido: everyone from the evac caravan has arrived, and people get divided up into battle groups.

In the chamber where red is being healed, a strategy meeting starts to discuss the plan to hold out against n'badu until milo arrives.

Priests are currently spread out around hokkaido, creating a magic barrier around the island.

The hokkaido tribe, along with a tetsujin mech army led by gopis and namari (scientist from v3), all shoot massive freeze rays at sugar. she can't really do anything to protect herself, since using her powers might kill n'badu who is hiding under her cloak.

Using such a strong freezing spell for an extended period of time causes chaika's body to freeze over. she'll likely die before they can completely encase sugar. as she's dying, she thinks of bisco and it's clearly implied that she has a crush on him.

where the fuck did this come from??? what happened to her crush on milo???????

But whatever, chaika is saved - by bisco begrudgingly kissing her to share his life energy with her. as a married man with children he didn't want to do it, but tirol repeated milo's wisdom: "it's for medical reasons so it's fine!!!!"

With sugar frozen, n'badu can't be protected by her and he's too much of a little bitch to do any fighting himself. sugar uses the last of her power to summon an overwhelming swarm of cosmoz (as well as something that's a special surprise for a couple bullet points later), and everyone can only look on in despair.

Bisco can sense milo's presence, and so can salt. tirol realizes that milo IS here, essentially, but isn't able to use akasha tripper to pass between timelines because they don't have the soul power needed for it. the solution? kill as many cosmoz as possible and use their souls for it.

Lots of fighting against cosmoz. just as one looks like it's about to kill gopis, AKABOSHI-01 (the robo-bisco from v3~4) saves her and namari.

Shishi and amli also come to protect them. gopis is enraged at being saved again by shishi, and still doesn't understand how shishi's completely forgiven her for what she's done. however, amidst the fighting, a cosmoz appears in their blind spot and fires a laser at shishi --

Only for gopis to push them out of the way, and die in their stead. as gopis' strength fades, she stabs herself on shishi's sword, her blood seeping into the flowers and vines, helping heal shishi's wounds and increasing their strength.

G: "Now.... you'll have to stay alive, knowing it was only 'cause of my dirty blood....!" G: "No matter... what you do now... you'll never... be able.... to forget about me...!" G: "I win...! Ahahaha...." G: "I've known all along... that.. the biggest fool of all... was, me....."

Gopis dissolves into dust, leaving only her nose ring behind. shishi takes it.

N'badu actually arrives at the battlefield, having taken control of a reanimated mare's body. youkan and satahabaki struggle to fight him.

N'badu steals youkan's matatabi powers, intending to use it to erase whatever is left of sugar's will so she'll mindlessly obey him.

Satahabaki unleashes all his might, his already barely-human body transforming into a giant sakura tree. he keeps growing as he absorbs mare's water, until there is nothing left - and satahabaki turns fully into a tree, his roots growing down into hokkaido. ...

The fighting has been going on for so long that everyone is running out of steam. god knows how many cosmoz they defeated, but it still isn't enough energy to activate akasha tripper. but suddenly, sakura trees burst out of the ground - their wide branches blocking incoming attacks, and absorbing all the latent energy from the air.

Bisco fires an arrow to tear open the spacetime portal, calling out to milo and telling him to come back. as soon as the portal opens, milo rockets through and shoots into the air.

The cosmoz flee in terror, calling milo "the light of death".

Bisco hurriedly climbs the trees to chase after milo, sensing something wrong with him.

The god of death, izanami, seems to have completely taken over milo's body - his eyes lifeless and cold. he calls all the souls of the departed to him and absorbs them.

Izanami charges up to delete n'badu, sugar, and anything else that isnt meant to exist in this world with a soul-powered blast (taking hokkaido and everyone on it with them as fallout). but then bisco arrives.

He latches on to milo's cold body. izanami doesn't understand what's going on or who he is. bisco puts their foreheads together, locking eyes and telling milo to say his name.

Seeing his partner brings milo back - his eyes returning to their deep blue and his heart beating once again as he hugs bisco tightly and cries.

Bisco realizes they've been surrounded by cosmoz and tries to shake out of milo's hold before they get attacked, but milo refuses to let go. annoyed that bisco has stopped paying attention to him, milo continues to hug him as he uses his long hair to attack and destroy all the cosmoz.

N'badu jumps between different bodies, trying to find something suitably strong to fight with and protect him from the cold. having run out of soul power to use, he takes the shells of many dead crabs and pulls them together into one massive body, with actagawa (not dead) as its core.

Bisco fights n'badu as milo protects tirol from waves of cosmoz.

Actagawa's willpower stops the fused crab from moving, and subsequently, n'badu from harming bisco. bisco uses red's soul power to deliver a strong punch and shatter its shell.

With n'badu exposed and out of power, bisco and milo summon the choushin bow (someone please tell me what this was called in english).

N'badu uses what power he has left to block the attack, but his own powers tear his shitty little insect body apart - then bimi's arrow breaks through to finish the job.

All the souls n'badu still had are released, and start going toward sugar. everyone runs off to stop her before she gains enough power to create a new universe.

Sugar breaks free of the ice. she's in a panic, with n'badu gone and having absorbed all of his negative emotions. N'badu's voice (in sugar's mind): [I hate you... Aka... boshi....... Die..! Give me.. back.. what's mine... suffer... and die!!!!]

Sugar fires off extremely powerful attacks powered by n'badu's hatred. the only thing that can nullify them? milo's new personal bow summon, the izanami bow, which uses soul power to create arrows imbued with positive emotions (love).

Real sugar wakes up after hearing bimi calling for her, and she tries fighting against the negative powers controlling her, but her body is still going on a rampage.

Amli and raskeni show up, using mantras to create stairs leading up sugar's gigantic body so they can reach her heart (where real sugar is).

Bimi use the choushin bow to blow open a hole in (god) sugar's body, but are knocked down before they can save (real) sugar. the hole they made begins to close.

BUT HERE COMES RED WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!!! she climbs (god) sugar's body and rescues (real) sugar.

The god's body collapses into space goo but continues to move, consuming anything in its path.

Bimi summon the choushin bow to destroy the egg (the new universe it had been growing this whole time). but bisco realizes milo is cold and shaking, having used up too much of his power. M: "But if we don't shoot now, everything is going to be destroyed. You, Sugar, the world we love, all of it..." Bisco held Milo's freezing cold body close against his chest to share his warmth as they drew the bowstring tight.

As they stand ready to fire, the world around them feels silent. In that silence, milo asks... M: "Bisco, do you like me?" The question came out of nowhere. Bisco turned his head to look at Milo, thinking to respond, "Of course I do." But when they locked eyes and he looked into the deep blue of Milo's cool, clear gaze, his heart suddenly felt caught in his throat, and he lost any words he had. B: "........" M: "Do you... love me?" His simple question felt as if had a different weight to it than anything Milo had asked him before - it felt very... final. B: "We're partners, aren't we?" M: "....Yeah." B: "So you should already know the answer." M: "......Right." Milo smiled and nodded, having hoped to hear just that. Hearing that made Milo happier than anything... or, it should have.

They fire, but...

N'badu, barely clinging to life, manages to fly in the arrow's path, causing it to stray slightly off course. They miss, and the universe egg begins to take in the choushin arrow's power. The reset can no longer be stopped. They lost.

Milo cries, saying that it was his fault. M: "It was because I had a thought... for just a moment. That I didn't care if the world ended and I lost everything... as long as you would pay attention to me.... And now, I've brought that thought into reality."

Everyone looks on in silent despair.

B: "We're going to die together. We'll be makin' good on our promise now! But I know that I haven't nearly repaid you for all the love you've shown me... so..." M: "So, you'll hear out one last request?" B: "Anything you want!" M: "Then...." M: "Forget about me."

Milo uses the power of izanami to take control of the universe egg, everything now resetting to his command.

B: "We promised that we'd die together!!" M: "You won't die, Bisco." B: "Shut up!! Don't leave me, Milo...!! Don't leave me all alone...!" ... M: "I love you. Even if you one day forget about me... I'll still love you... always..." Right as Bisco reached out his hand to touch Milo's cheek, Milo was pierced by hellshrooms, causing a great explosion. B: "Milo....!!!!" B: "Milo.....!!! Me, too!!!!!! I love y--"

Everything goes white. Bisco wakes up some time later.

There's no mention of n'badu, red only saying that they defeated the rust god. red is his sister. sugar is pawoo's daughter. no one remembers milo. he never existed.

B: (I know that he was real... The person most important to me... The guy I loved.....) Tears streaked Bisco's cheeks, but not a single person in this new world could understand the reason why. ... The world had been saved, and now everyone could move toward a brighter tomorrow in this world of hope. Everyone except... The one with whom he shared his fate, his beloved Milo.

THE END.

just kidding, could you fucking image. but this IS the point where the "end card" of the book was placed. not funny.

there's then a page detailing the key events of the "sugar era" (the calendar years in this new world). most notably: -year 38: humans have to escape earth and go into space (on a cosmoshroom-powered ark) due to spores filling up the atmosphere

Salt is now an old ass man and a novelist. he has a glasses-wearing disciple named ota, who's the granddaughter of the ota we know from the start of v1. they're on a private ship headed for earth.

They land at imihama, in ruins and covered by mushrooms, trees, and tall grass. they get out of their ship, and salt heads for the giant mushroom tower in its center.

They find bisco, having grown older and a bit thinner, with long hair and mushrooms growing on him and his clothes. he lives alone, with only the kinoko (the lil fellas from v7? 8?) for company.

Salt gives bisco a manuscript for his story. salt uses a magic pen to write, seeming to have been created when bisco used his ultimate will power for the final time, on the day he lost the one he called "milo". his pen's powers led him to write a story detailing a different universe, one where "milo" existed - and sacrificed himself to create a new world.

S: "When living beings directly observe Izanami's existence, their memories will be erased. But with this story, it could be different ... I believe it can help lead you back to him."

Bisco says goodbye to salt, giving him a hug and passing on his old, crusty goggles. he then jumps to action, using the ultimate will power on the manuscript. the words on the pages turn into a beam of light leading into space. riding actagawa, he's carried off in search of where it leads.

Bisco goes on many adventures as he travels through space. god knows how much time has passed. memories fade, but the one thing he could never, ever forget... was milo. ...

Somewhere else: izanami (milo) exists in his god realm, guiding souls peacefully to the afterlife. time has no meaning anymore. he feels nothing. after living for excessively long, he can sense that his own end is finally near...

But just as that end seems to approach, someone breaks into his realm. with the power of mushrooms.

Milo doesn't recognize him. milo doesn't even remember that he's milo. feeling threatened, he fights bisco away.

They battle. bisco keeps trying to talk to milo, but milo rejects all of it. then, right as milo is left defenseless and he thinks bisco is going to kill him...

Bisco held him tightly, yet ever so gently, feeling an eternity's worth of love in his embrace. B: "I love you." B: "I finally got to tell you, after all this time..."

Milo - the real milo - wakes up. he's upset that bisco came all this way to find him. but... B: "There's no point in living without you." M: "But everyone we knew is gone. Our Earth is gone. We don't have anywhere to call home anymore..!" B: "No. We're home now. Because you're my home... Milo."

Having turned back to his human self, milo is no longer welcome in the death god's realm. bisco and milo happily accept their end, together, as the powers of the universe bear down on them.

However - sugar appears and saves them! their daughter, sugar the mushroom god.

Sugar tells them to destroy izanami's tower and trigger a new cycle of reincarnation. milo refuses, saying that doing so will create a new universe where suffering still exists. but then the souls of their companions all encourage them to do it.

As they fire at and destroy the tower, they turn back into their 17 year old selves.

M: “Do partners stay together forever? Until they die?” B: “Yeah.” M: "And even after they die?" B: "That's right. We'll always be together, Milo."

Everything fades to white again... ...

In the new universe, bisco and milo are together again. they eat, call for actagawa, get ready to ride, then head off to their next unknown adventure.

Notes

Red has no idea who mare is, implying the ark incident never happened in her timeline.

When milo first activates the soul absorb program and the mushroom ring shows up, hope states that the hellshrooms use soul power to move autonomously.

Kousuke asks the elder mushroom keepers to help with moving the evac caravan, but they don't particularly feel like it until kousuke mentions that the merchants among the group have manga and anime dvds on them (that they can steal need to protect)

Satahabaki refers to amli as "queen consort" (o'kisaki-sama)

As far as i can recall this is the first time we get namari's full name - Namari Koube - as well as kanji for his last name because i think it was written in katakana until now?

Amli and shishi skate #confirmed - amli uses mantas to create "air boards", basically magic hoverboards they can fly around on.

When n'badu fights satahabaki, he damages satahabaki's armor and it's revealed that he has ear piercings, specifically earrings shaped like the scales of justice.

After n'badu's defeat, we see gafune (the elder jabi had beef with) leading mushroom keepers in battle. she and some other elder(?) have this funny exchange: "This'll be our revenge, for Akemi [jabi]...!" --"Ain't he been dead a while now?" "Whatever gets people fired up t' fight!"

Pawoo does some cool moves and then bisco questions whether she should be killing things so brutally in front of salt (who she's carrying in a baby sling) and then paubimi have a silly convo. B: "See, Salt's sayin' you're a bad influence on him." P: "And are you anything other a collection of bad influences? At least learn to stop cursing." M: "But if Bisco isn't allowed to to swear anymore, he won't be able to say anything at all!" B: "Open your damn mouth." M: "He'f goinf to rip ouf my tongue!!!"

The sugar era calendar lists the death years of pawoo and tirol, and we can extrapolate that they died in their 60s rip

Bisco never learned how to read kanji despite living for like a billion years #illiterateking
