I've gotten a few asks checking in and I just wanted to let you guys know I'm still alive. Not doing the best, but I'm okay.

I know I've been dead silent but...there's been a lot going on. A lot a lot.

Not going to overshare too much, but there's a strong chance I'll be committing myself for mental health within the next few days. Things went downhill very quickly in a very bad way. I could probably force myself through it on my own, but then I'd likely be back in the same boat in a few months. I'm nervous, but it will probably be for the best.

This is going to get kind of personal, and triggery for mentions of death, so if that's an issue, don't bother reading any further. Just trying to keep this a safe space while needing to get some things out of my head.

I just learned last night about Akira Toriyama's death. Feels like a giant chunk of my childhood just died. The Dragon Ball series was my first anime, and Chrono Trigger still remains in my top five favorite games of all time, if not my number one favorite.

His stories were rife with themes of never giving up and always having hope. Themes that showed that no matter how difficult the odds or how strong the adversity there was still hope; that showed how the power of will and the power of one's heart could prevail no matter how impossible it seemed. Themes that influenced me in ways that kept me going through some of the hardest and darkest times in my own life.

He still had ongoing projects. He left behind a legacy, but it was a legacy that was still ongoing. My heart is honestly broken, on behalf of everyone who loved him and who loved his work.

Acute subdural hematoma was his cause of death. It can be sudden and can happen without any cause or warning. It's the same thing that took my mom fifteen years ago, as the result of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. No signs, no symptoms, just here one minute and gone the next. Her sixty-third birthday would have been February 28 of this year. It's cruel and unfair to anyone with so much left to offer the world, or any loved ones who don't even get a second to say goodbye.

I know I'm rambling a little. Sorry for that. This has just brought up some painful memories and thoughts. This kind of medical affliction, this kind of sudden loss is a reminder of how suddenly someone can be taken away. It's not right and it's not fair, but it's a reminder to cherish every day and love the people we love like it might be the last day we have to do so. Because no matter how unlikely it seems, it really might be the last day, and we might not know until it's too late.

I've had this dumb headcanon floating around for a while for absolutely no reason

That Buggy's real name isn't "Buggy", it's just a name he's been using to hide the embarrassing truth that his real name is a very proper and distinguished sort of name, and he absolutely hates it because of that.

Something like "Bertram."

And the only person who knows is Shanks, who obviously uses it to get on his nerves.

And also obviously threatens to tell Mihawk and Crocodile when Buggy's being an overdramatic jerkface.

Today I tried to stand up for myself (which I never do and am very bad at).

I've got adjustments to do on the skin pallete but I've started working on cheesy-romance-novel Shanks a bit to take my mind off of some things.

Also decided to keep the beads after experimenting with other necklaces. Because he would have bought them at some random port and waited for someone (probably poor Beck) to ask WHY, just so he could make a joke about blue balls.

Hasn't ever been an issue before now, but PSA that I reserve the right to delete insulting comments on posts that could potentially hurt or upset my followers and moots if they see them.

There is a lot of simping here, and if that's a problem, then just move along.

There's nothing wrong with being a fan of things, and if that's a problem, then definitely move along.

I am aware that I sound like a broken record, but for the thousandth time, THIS BLOG IS A SAFE SPACE. I'm not calling anyone out specifically and have already removed the comment in question, but I'm not going to tolerate anyone calling my moots "pathetic." You can call me whatever you want, but my mutuals are awesome amazing kind people, and the only "pathetic" behavior is taking time out of your day to be needlessly insulting.

For personal reasons I have temporarily given up hope on pretty much everything.

This will probably pass, but I doubt I'll be doing much art or writing for a while. I don't have a timeline for how long this will be an issue.

I'll still answer asks when I'm capable, since at the moment they're just about the only thing that makes me smile, and I also don't want to emotionally shut down completely.

I'll get her character profile up and finish her backstory along with it soon. I'm too exhausted to go into any more detail right now.

Just glad she's done enough that I can actually focus on other projects without her bitching at me. She's honestly worse than Janx. Please don't tell her I said that, she'll throw a fit.

I'm like ninety percent sure Wren's hair is going to be the death of me.

Think I left off in her history with her deal with Zeff, after the Cook Pirates raided and looted the merchant ship where she was previously working. She accepts his offer to join the crew, though unbeknownst to her Zeff does instruct his officers to keep a close eye on her; he's still wary of her and her dismissive attitude toward the merchants she had been traveling with.

The feeling is mutual, of course; Wren still holds contempt toward men on the whole, and even less trust toward pirates. Her usual tactic of using her charm and beauty to get her way works well enough with most of the crew, but it doesn't seem to extend to Zeff or the crew officers. She finds it irritating at first—but over her time with the crew, as it grows clearer to her that the captain actually seems to have her best interest in mind, she grows to respect him more than she would care to admit.

Over time her respect shifts her attitude and behavior toward the rest of the crew, and before a year has passed she realizes she sees herself as one of them—not as a passenger taking advantage of her situation, but as part of their ranks, as part of something almost like a family.

And it scares her—even after so much time spent among them, learning to hone her natural talents for subterfuge and developing an interest and talent for crafting explosives (likening the chemistry behind the art to her culinary pursuits), it's what ultimately scares her into pulling away.
