Murderbot is such a neurodivergent power fantasy. It can
- store unlimited media and watch it privately
- turn down sensory organs that are bothering it
- look at stuff without its eyes
- cross reference its data storage when it doesn't know what to say
- program "human-like behavior"
- super duper kill the shit out of anyone that fucks with it

my favorite genre of fictional character is like "i am terrifying to almost everyone, i'm very good at killing, i can endure anything, i've become exceptionally good at playing into my reputation, and if you try to give me positive social interaction i will react with confusion and cower in a corner like an abused animal. and i may try to shoot you. but there is also a chance i may imprint on you like a feral dog receiving its first loving touch! good luck."

💀Unwanted Guest Recorded Reading💀⭐️CASTING⭐️
I am directing a recorded reading of The Unwanted Guest by Tamsyn Muir in celebration of passing 999 days of patience for Alecto the Ninth.
Ideally, the reading will happen this summer, be streamed and/or recorded, and posted somewhere for people to see. Please like, rb, and share so that as many fans of the locked tomb series can be included as possible. This is for all of us.
There are four roles up for grabs:
- Palamedes Sextus
- Ianthe the First
- Voice / Dulcinea Septimus
- Stage Direction
Auditions are open to anyone who can record and send in their take on the lines given. There is a deadline of June 25th listed, but that can be changed and extended.
I am not casting based on experience; but on skill, passion, and determination. Don’t let lack of experience or equipment get you down.
For those who would like to participate in ways that aren’t performance based - I will include a place to submit your thoughts as to how you would like to help
Examples could include: Logistical help with audio/video recording, visual artists, social managers, dramaturges, etc.
Details that are yet unknown are so due to the intent for collaboration.
More information to be posted as it arises.
Feel free to comment or dm any questions!

The light Nona casts on the confrontation at the end of Harrow the Ninth changes so much about it. Not what happened, really, but the underlying assumptions. It drives me insane. It's tragic, it's infuriating, and it's also, just a tiny bit, on a meta level, hilarious.
Mercy was wrong. There is no perfect process. John didn't do anything perfectly. He'd flailed his way into godhood with all the control and intentionality of a toddler having a meltdown in a china shop. He ripped his cavalier from her body and never put her back. He did consume her; she persisted because her soul was simply too big for him to contain.
There is no perfect lyctorhood. Mercy was wrong, and John didn't argue with her.
He could have, is the thing. If he'd laid everything out for them, then and there, he could have made a strong case that what he did with Alecto can't be replicated by human beings. That nothing he'd hidden from them would have changed Cristabel's fate, and had Alecto been human, she would have turned out just the same as the others. I doubt he would have really believed it himself if he had, but he's hardly above lying. He didn't even try. Why did he just agree with her and not even try?
That's the kicker of it. Nona had already answered that question before it even inspired the asking. He didn't try because people don’t forgive, not really. He didn't see a point to arguing with her because once people start to doubt, you’ve already lost them. They'll believe whatever they want to. The details would have done nothing. Which is both a fascinating insight into what was going on there, on an interpersonal level, and also.
We stewed on that reveal for years. We built castles of meta on that perfect lyctorhood theory, and all along, John was letting us misunderstand. Because it was easier than telling the truth. Godfuckingdammnit, Tamsyn.

Being Mayor of Hatchetfield must suck you have to cover-up,
- Ccrp
- Multiple murderous cults
- Constant deaths and disappearances
- General Lords in black shenanigans
And yet Solomon Lauter gave the life of his wife to gain it then neglected his daughter to maintain it
#starkid#solomon lauter#hatchetverse#genuinely he sucks so much???#the parents of hatchetfield are generally kind of awful or mid at best#i suppose there's a grand theme of generational trauma there that the kids are clearly paying for but#yikes!!!

I'm just saying, the Six of Crows Spinoff would have made big money for Netflix. Likely even more than the first season of Shadow and Bone, just look at how highly rated Six of Crows is on Goodreads with a "95% liked this book" average score. As well as how hyped it is on BookTok and the fuck ton of fanart and fanfiction.
Constantly, I also think about how Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Danielle Galligan, Calahan Skogman, and Jack Wolfe would have had a blast filming the Ice Court scenes. Just imagine the utter chaos in the bloopers and interviews. The insanity of the six of them (plus Kuwei!) clinging onto the side of a tank, four of them soaking wet, two covered in bits of glass and one in purple silks, and they're just storming through the snow while screaming "WE HAVE A TANK" at the top of their lungs.
I will cry now.

The thing about ADHD is that the "lack of reward chemicals in your brain" doesn't just mean that you don't want to do any tasks that don't feel particularly yummy :(, it means that your brain will look at chores and tasks that need to be done like "doing this would be painful and tedious for absolutely nothing to gain from it, Do Not Do That." The same thing that your brain tells you about everything else that would feel really bad and hurt the entire time that you're dying. The part of your brain that stops you from doing the thing is the same part that keeps you from shoving your arm into a wood chipper.
With unmedicated, unmanaged ADHD, "I have to do this assignment or I fail and my life will be ruined and I die" feels like a SAW trap, every single time.
