2020 was my escape year.

Yeah, the world was burning, the pandemic hit like a train, but for some reason… it felt like freedom. No more school, no more waking up at 6am with dead eyes and heavy feet. Suddenly, I could breathe.

That year introduced me to Netflix (aka my gateway drug). First came Stranger Things—cinema. Art. Eleven supremacy. But then… Shadowhunters. That show did something to me. I don’t even know what it was, but it changed how I saw the world. The gay romance? Oh. My. God. I fell in love. It wasn’t just a show. It was an awakening.

Then came this one friend—you know who you are—who dropped K-pop and BL manhwas into my life like a chaotic fairy godmother. And even though my family is like super strict about that kinda stuff, I started living more. Like, actually living. Even if the days got lonelier and I started to miss school (plot twist), Shadowhunters and those dreamy BL manhwas made me feel alive.

And then, the best plot twist of all: my younger sister became my friend.

I know, you're like “weren’t you already friends??”

Nah. Being sisters is not the same as being best friends who talk for hours about made-up characters and magical boys in love.

We created our own story.

Our escape.

A weird, wild, magical, chaotic mashup of BL and who-knows-what. I narrated, she tweaked scenes, we built a universe. It felt like we were watching our own Netflix show, except it was ours.

Still is.

Now she’s a professional writer. I’m still here, still dreaming.

And yeah, we’re still scared to post it.
