New year, new me as they say.
I want to re-engage with writing after like a full year of nothing, so I excavated this post of mine, from like 2 years ago. I have real issues with keeping habits. So let's try again !
You might see me here more often (or maybe not) ✨
- Create your writing schedule -
// beforehand //
Prioritize your projects (having several projects can be useful when you need to let one aside before editing)
Determine the writing goal and requirements for your project (expectations for the genre, tropes, worldbuilding needed...)
Write down the tasks you need to do and estimate how long you will take to complete each thing.
Accountability partners : encourage and motivate each other to keep going! Engage with a writing group (many events on writeblr like worldbuilding wednesday, tender tuesday...)
Have a plan for writer’s block (a list of writing prompts / do stream-of-consciousness freewriting / research on your subject matter)
// Method if word count works for you //
Be realistic with how much time you have to set a target date / deadline.
Make a word count goal for the project (like 50k, can be adjusted later).
Now you can have a daily word count to achieve your target date (nanowrimo website is great to do that)
// daily life : create a ritual //
Three parts of any habit : trigger, action, and reward.
Incorporate writing into your daily routine (ex : morning routine, set 15mn in the morning, 30mn in the evening, 1 hour before bed)
Make it official : add writing to your calendar / to-do list (an habit-tracking app can be useful too, a tracker in your journal)
Set a daily word count
Create a writing space (it has to be easy to start writing)
Keep track of progress on each project (excel spreadsheet)
Reward yourself (snack, going out with friends) or set a negative consequence (donate money if you don't reach your goal)
Have someone checking on you to follow your progress :)

The Space Belongs to the Ace
Happy International Asexuality Day! I thought I'd make a tribute not only to all my fellow aces out there but also to space. To me, my asexuality is, on some level, connected to outer space, and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
If you don't know what I mean by that, let me tell you why.
Space has always meant a lot of me as a kid long before I discovered my asexuality. It is defined as a near-perfect vacuum. Outside of celestial bodies, there is almost nothing out there. No air. No other signs of life as far as we are concerned.
Yet if you look beyond, you can discover something beautiful... You can discover stars that have been here for over a millenia. You can discover spirals that are expanding and will continue to expand. You can discover colours and shapes that can captivate you or even comfort you, telling you that everything will be okay.
That's how I felt when I was finally able to label my experiences. That same wonder astronauts feel when they make a new discovery about space? It is the same wonder I felt when I first heard the term "asexual".
Now there are people who are pushing us out of the LGBT+ community. Even after we built our own as they insisted, people still harrass us for "not being oppressed enough" or for "making up a sexuality" or even "endangering the kids by confusing them with something unnatural".
It's 2024. We can't keep pushing away our fellow members when the world is already pushing us away from society. Exclusionism has only ever served to tear us apart while the people who want to hurt us sit back and let us do the work for them. We can't keep doing this. We deserve to have our space.
We belong here too.
