How to unlock the Upright / Reversed Ending in The Arcana
This post doesn’t contain spoilers for book XX of The Arcana, but does contain spoilers for previous chapters I’m currently figuring out which choices for each route matters when it comes to getting the Upright or Reversed ending and this is what I gathered so far:
General - Once you change enough choices to tip the scales to the other ending - you will be notified, but ONLY WHEN YOU GO TO THE MENU after the chapter ends instead of starting another one - Once you unlock both endings, you will not have to go back to the previous books to change your choices again - both endings will be available to play as you wish - As confirmed by the devs - paid choices don’t change the outcome - Whether you choose to accept Devil’s deal (reversed) or decline (upright) matters (Edit: It matters, but it won’t change the outcome alone. If you have a lot “upright” LI-specific choices, then accepting the Devil’s deal alone won’t be enough to unlock the reversed ending) Asra: - All of the choices with stuff like “I’d do the same for you” or “You’d do the same for me” lead to reversed - All the choices where you can either face the task ahead with courage (upright) or try to avoid getting involved (reversed) - Everything that makes you seem afraid to act on your own without his help/guidance - reversed - When you choose to go to him and help even if you were told to do something else (the fight with the tree / when he goes into the magic lake to separate Lucio’s soul from the body and he says you can’t go in the water, but you choose to try anyway) - reversed. - letting him hide away from other people with you (reversed) Nadia: - You can either make choices that will encourage her to repair her relationships with her sisters (upright) or those that will encourage her that “she doesn’t need them” (reversed) - Choices that will gain her sympathy from other people - whether or not you let the guards dine with you and Nadia (upright) or not (reversed), when someone approaches her at the masquerade - “I’m sorry, Milady is busy” (reversed) or “how can we help?” (upright) - There are few choices about Lucio that let you determine his fate - basically, if MC would kill him or not etc (forgiveness - upright, ruthlessness - reversed)
Julian: - Every time you have a choice to make him accept what happened and that he can’t blame himself for it (upright) or that “you know he would do anything to keep you safe” (reversed) - Every time you encourage him to trust other people (upright) instead of pushing them away to “protect” them (reversed) - Every choice that justify his “martyr” tendencies (“you had your reasons” etc) - reversed - The perfect example of a choice that you may think is “better” because it sounds “kinder”, but actually leads to the reversed ending is the choice from book XIII. Julian feels guilty about MC’s death and you can tell him “You can’t save everyone.” or “You’ll save me in the future.” Saying the latter seems kinder to him, but it will make him feel that the safety of MC is his responsibility and that he must do anything to protect them (leading to him making the choice that he did at the beginning of the reversed version of book XX, because he believes he has to do whatever it takes to save MC) EDIT: - someone reminded me of one more thing that probably affects Julian’s route - whether you’re calm (upright) or panicked (reversed) in stressful situations. F.ex, do you keep struggling when the vines are tightening around you in the Hanged Man’s realm (book XII) or whether you choose to chase after the goat (reversed) or listen to Julian (upright) at the Masquerade (Book XIV). I might add stuff to this list later when I have some time to replay the rest of the books, but this is the general guide that I think will help you get the ending you want
Feel free to comment or DM me if you have questions or anything to add to this guide!

Losing Lightsabers Part II
I have more. Help.
Clones picking up after more Jedi (and Sith) because they are clumsy … for reasons.
There were occasions- rare occasions- that Cody and Rex somehow switched places in battle. Thus, Cody finds himself back to back with General Skywalker while Rex deals with General Kenobi’s snark. Also they get to pick up after the other’s General. The two switch back as quickly as possible because no offense to either General but Cody can’t handle Skywalker charging into a battle unarmed and Rex can’t keep up with Kenobi’s mind.
That awkward moment where Palpatine dropped his saber and Fox found it. Seriously. Fox went into the Chancellor’s office to grab something and was a little confused when he found a random lightsaber on the ground. Of course Palpatine walked in at that point and froze in place for a second because how did that fall out of his robes? Fox: “Uh, sorry Chancellor, I think one of the Jedi left their saber. I can call the temple and inform them–” Palpatine: “Oh that’s quite alright Commander. That was Anakin’s and I already informed him of it. He’ll be here shortly but I’ll hold onto for now.” Fox: “Of course, sir.”
The 13th battalion adored their Commander, Cal Kestis. He was young, bright, full of life, and always willing to help. Even when it came to finding his lightsaber. He didn’t drop it often. If anything, he left it in the mess hall and one of the clones would chase him down and give it back. General Jaro Tapal never dropped his saber. Even if he did, the thing was pretty big and they were sure they could find it quickly. (Of course there was that time when the clones made Cal drop his saber down the lift corridor… aka the time they were trying to kill him.)
Vader. Flipping Darth Vader has dropped his saber. Several times. “It’s not his fault, it’s the machine parts.” Usually he picks it up with Force but every once in a while (before the clones were decommissioned), a clone would pick the thing up before he could move and hand it over without a word. Vader was then forced to look the blank eyed clone in the eye and he hated that look. So he’d usually kill the clone. No one commented on it. However, Vader started noticing a lot more clones around him and whenever the stupid tube slipped, there was almost a “dash” to the thing. More of a silent race, closest brother won. It took three times to figure out what was going on. Vader ordered the decommission shortly after.
Rex thought his picking up lightsabers was over when the Republic died. And then he met Kanan. Now for reasons Rex didn’t ask about, Kanan’s lightsaber split into two parts. And someone (Chopper) loved running off with one of them. So Rex would race off to find the piece because he was the best at finding it because he had experience in this kind of thing. And when Kanan went blind, especially at the beginning of the experience, Rex would find the lightsaber everywhere. On the Ghost, off the Ghost, in the wasteland, in the base, in Ezra’s room, just everywhere. It was a pain. And don’t get him started on the battles. Rarely did Kanan drop his saber, but when he did it always went flying. It flew across the room, into an Inquisitor’s hand that one time (Rex doesn’t like talking about that time), off a cliff, into a giant body of water, and Rex, like the good clone he was, took off after it. Old habits die hard, but this was a habit he would be glad to get rid of.
And don’t get Rex started on Ezra’s saber. That kid was as bad as Anakin. His “Gun” saber had been easier to find, but then he had lost it. So then this green one came about and suddenly Rex found himself finding it all over the battlefield. Ezra was always fine, using the Force and a lot of animal friends to keep safe but still!
Then Kanan… passed on and Ezra went MIA. So Rex assumed his lightsaber returning duties were over. He heard rumors, a few years later, about another Jedi in the Rebellion. It seemed too good to be true so Rex had ignored them. Then he volunteered to go to Endor’s moon under Solo of all people and ran into a kid named Luke Skywalker. And before speeder chases and meeting Ewok’s, the kid happened to just drop a very familiar looking metal tube while hiking through the woods. Rex just groaned, picked the thing up, shoved it into the kid’s hands and said, “Somethings just don’t change, do they.” Then he marched off leaving a very confused Skywalker behind.
Kix missed the end of The Clone Wars, the Rise of the Empire, and the Fall of the Empire because guess who learned too much about the chips and was then frozen in carbonite for fiftyish years? This clone! So imagine his surprise when he’s at Maz’s when this guy runs by holding a lightsaber. And not just any saber, oh no, he knows that saber: General Skywalker’s. The kid is clearly not a Jedi because he, for once, doesn’t drop the kriffing thing. Kix does the sensible thing and leaves it alone because heck no, he ain’t getting dragged back into that kriffing mess again. This medic is out.

Losing Lightsabers
Excuse me while I just think of all the random scenarios where the Jedi are clumsy as heck and the clones have to pick up after their Generals. (Every. Single. Time.)
Anakin is one of the most frequent, to no surprise. Most of the 501st have at some point held their General’s saber (”Fives, be careful with that thing!” “Come on, Echo, it’s not going to turn on.” *lightsaber activates as Fives begins cursing* “What did I just say?”). Sometimes it’s only for a second or two because they are throwing it up to said General, who is now flipping over their head and charging headfirst into battle because of course he is. When it is longer than five minutes, the saber is taken to Rex who returns it to General Skywalker the next time he sees him. The longest period of Rex caring for the saber was two days. Anakin returned with his Padawan, both of them covered head to toe in a green questionable substance. Anakin’s only words were, “Don’t. Ask.” Rex returned the saber without commenting.
*bonus to Anakin* Ahsoka has lost her sabers a total of five times in a battle. Three of those times it was Anakin’s fault. She brings it up. A lot.
Surprisingly, Obi-Wan actually loses his saber as much, if not more than Anakin. No one outside the 212th really believes it (other than the 501st). Nintey-nine percent of the time, the saber drops in front of or near Commander Cody. No one knows how or why, not Cody, not Obi-Wan, it just happens. At this point, Cody has a name for the thing and every time it finds it’s way to him, he greets it with a tone of exasperation and annoyance. “Metalrod, what did the General do this time?” (most clones argue with Cody that “Metalrod” is not a creative name, which Cody just asks for something better. No one can come up with anything).
Plo Koon rarely loses his saber in battle (maybe twice. Maybe). But between battles? Oh, you better believe that thing gets misplaced. Think of when a Dad loses his keys and that’s pretty much the scene that unravels in the 104th. (”Did you check in the command center?” “Yes, Wolffe, I checked in the command center. It’s not there.” “… Are you sure?” “Wolffe!” “I’m just saying General, it was there last time!” *they find it in the command center*). The 104th boys don’t mind though. They’ll look all over until the saber is produced. However, it has made for some tight situations right before a battle. (”Alright boys we have ten minutes before we get out of hyperspace so let’s find that saber!”)
Aalya Secura didn’t lose her saber at the beginning of the war. But as time has gone on she started to drop it. Never in a dangerous situation and never when she is going to need it. She just goes to put it on her belt and misses the loop or strap somehow. Usually, it’s after a battle is over for good or a practice sparing session. After she drops it, she always goes to pick it up but Commander Bly is always one step ahead, swooping down to the ground, scooping it up, handing it over and making some comment about, “I believe this belongs to you,” or “Here, General.” And if her hand lingers a little too long on his, no one says anything.
Those of 41st Elite Corp have never had to return their General’s lightsaber. Or at least, that’s what they all say. General Luminara Unduli is a woman of grace and would never drop her saber. So it is a sworn secret among the men to never speak of that one time she accidentally dropped her saber down a canyon and someone had to go get it.
Mace Windu has never dropped his saber on accident. And that isn’t a lie. The four times he has “dropped” it was all intentional and for a purpose. That one time they surrendered to a neutral party in the war (all of the clone’s blaster’s joined it shortly on the ground). The time he was undercover and had to sell it for information (one of the clones stole it back when the storekeeper was busy giving Windu the information). The time he threw his saber as far as he could, chopping down every droid in its path saving several of his men but also losing it in the scuffle. And that one time he threw it to Commander Ponds, who used the kriffing thing to cut down a charging wild beast. (They don’t talk about that time…)
Depa Billaba is a lot like her Master in the sense of she never accidentally drops her saber. It is always intentional… at least that is what she tells herself and her Padawan, who thought it was a good idea to make his lightsaber into two separate pieces. Seriously, it’s a problem. (”I swear I put them down right here.” “And then one of them rolled away, right kid?” “Don’t call me kid!”)
On the planet Kamino, General Shak Ti is the only Jedi constantly present. As such, it is her responsibility to interact with all of the clones and show them what a lightsaber is, what it does, and what a clone should do if they find one (it’s best to not have the troopers accidently chopping off limbs). Unfortunately, this means a lot of cadets come into contact with the weapon and sometimes a cadet will get the brilliant idea to take the thing. Shak Ti always knows where it is though because the kyber crystal is constantly calling her because, “There are children. They’re going to kill themselves. Shak Ti come get me away from these tiny children!” General Ti always arrives and the cadet and his brothers sheepishly return the blade, apologetic and afraid they are going to be punished. Instead, Shak Ti shows the finer points of the design, explains how she built it with the Force, the story of her kyber crystal, and then demonstrates a few kata’s. It’s now become a sort of ritual for cadets to run off with the saber then wait for the General to find them.
Many clones have served under the Jedi General Yoda and the general consensus is that he keeps a good hold on his weapon. His glimmer stick on the other hand? Oh, that thing they have to keep track of. And it’s even more annoying than a lightsaber because it’s a stick. (”Is this it?” “How the kriff am I supposed to know? It’s brown, it’s short, and it’s kind of straight.”) And Yoda always knows if they brought him his stick. If it’s not it, they have to keep looking. Most of the time though, the Jedi finds it on his own and all the clones are just ??? (“I thought we looked over there!” “He’s a Jedi, vod. Don’t think about it.”)

Did anyone else notice how much more of Rex’s personality we saw in this episode? Like, we see it all through the series, he’s a natural leader, a soilder, and a good friend. But in this episode, we see not just all of those attributes, but we see… Rex. As a person. Not a soilder or clone. But as himself. Obviously it’s a different situation and there’s not a lot of time to be formal.
The scene where he yells at Ashoka. Venting and showing his frustration and helplessness. The pain in that scene. We see Rex vulnerable, which is something we haven’t experienced before (at least not in a long time). We see Rex as a human. Someone who is allowed emotions. Perhaps this is from the inhibitor chip being removed (if it’s original purpose of retaining agression was legit).
In the same scene, as Ahsoka lifts his helmet off of his head, you see the tear. How his posture looks defeated, his shoulders are no longer square, he’s not standing tall, and head is hung low. He looks so young, emotionally. Unable to process this stress, that they were supposedly built to withstand but here he is. You know he’s trying so hard to be strong and not to show weakness, like he’s had to do after being in a high position of leadership in the army. But he is human. It’s okay to feel pain after going through any sort of trauma. And he’s mourning, for his brothers, for the Republic, for everyone. And we can finally see him feel these things.
Watching Rex and Ashoka act like a well-oiled machine, a Jedi and Soilder, in battle. Not only that, but behave as friends. As allies, watching each other’s backs. And it’s BEAUTIFUL.
We hear his witty remarks throughout the episode.
“…I never much liked being a commander anyway.”
Which, once again, we haven’t really gotten to experience awhole lot of. And honestly, I really appreciated it.
Rex has been my favorite character from the very beginning, and I think many people think the same way. And I’m glad we got to see him in a different scenario, but I HATE that during a time where he is going through something utterly traumatic is when we finally get to see HIM and not a Clone Captain/Commander.
Thank you Filoni, for bringing Rex, Ashoka, and so many other to life. And thank you SO MUCH for letting us walk alongside them for all of these years.
May The Force Be With You ❤️❤️❤️
And Thank You.

rex comes to stand next to ahsoka in front of the lines of helmets held up on spikes. regards each and every one, variation in their design amidst the ranks. he can recognize each unique scratch above visors or on scalps, see those whose coat of paint was new and spruce and those whose coat of paint was worn and flaking. he can see those who were painted a beautiful shade of sunset orange, white markings of diamonds and lines on their foreheads. he can see those who do not hold any shade of paint at all, the ivory of shinies inducted into the 332nd kept clean save for the ashes atop their plastoid. he can see those with the same shade of blue they’ve always had, forming triangles down the center of their buckets, of unique designs pertaining to the brothers he had known long ago.
his eyes drift towards the clone helmet at the center front, held up on a spike for all to see. the visor outlined by a shade of blue, the republic cog he was so famously known for painted in a gray that flakes off the edge. old, belonging to one of a vet, of one who had led the charge back on saleucami when he could not, of one who took the opportunity to do what was right and risk his life flying those umbaran fighters up to the mothership above. jesse. arc trooper jesse. gone.
( he had died in rex’s arms just hours before. had died once the ship collapsed upon the ground, crawling out of the remains in an attempt to seek vengeance once more. lodged into his stomach was a piece of durasteel. he collapsed three steps in.
rex had cradled him in his arms, sobbing pitifully as he held his brother with trembling hands, clutching to him so tight it could’ve made the pain worse. but it wouldn’t be much of a difference — jesse was dying. rex had reached over, slipped jesse’s bucket from over his head, coming face to face with the trooper he had loved like his own flesh and blood. pain contorting his face, mouth pulled into a grit of teeth, tears falling down his cheek as he gasps for air. smothered in nothing but grime and blood.
jesse attempts to reach for his blaster, still overtaken by the chip, but rex throws it away before he has the chance. then jesse grabs at his neck, attempting to strangle him. rex latches onto it before he makes it to his throat. he grips it. tight. tight enough to break it, and his vod’ika trembles even harder. he’s shaking. crying harder.
“traitor,” jesse had whispered to him. the words are rancid, spiteful, but the look in his eyes was of nothing but pain. one that rex recognized before. it was the look he had when hardcase died, it was the look he had when kix vanished, it was the look he had after maul breached his mind and subjected him to unspeakable torture. but… it was also a look of love. a brotherly love, one that has rex’s heart-wrenching at the sight. jesse was still in there.
and in the next moment, he’s gone. )
rex stands before the lines of the troopers he’s been with for the last couple of days, or weeks, or years. stands before their burials, lined up just in the formation he had them stand in a few hours before. even in death they were just soldiers. mindless, dead soldiers.
he should have listened to fives. he should have come back for echo. he should have fought harder for dogma to be freed, listened to slick despite what he had done. he should have tried to search for kix after he disappeared, he should have kept tup with him when he had the chance, he should have said goodbye to cody before he left for mandalore. he should have saved jesse. he should have saved wolffe, or bly, or anyone. he should have saved them. instead, he stands in a sea of dead brothers, wearing the armor of a commander that he is no longer fit to be.
“rex?” ahsoka calls out to him softly, her gray robe flowing around her like the wings of a sprite, montrals sticking up from under her hood.
it’s upon her words that rex realizes the streaks of tears that have begun to cascade down his cheek, flowing down and down until it reaches his chestplate and the dusty ground below. it’s upon her words that rex finally breaks, falling to his knees and releasing a sob from deep within his chest, the grief and anger and frustration and hopelessness finally setting in and washing over like a tidal wave. ahsoka is at his side immediately, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in his shoulder pauldron, letting him sob into her embrace. rex clutches onto her robe so tight he’s afraid to let go.
and rex cries. he just cries. for how long, he doesn’t know. for what reasons, he doesn’t know. but every time he looks up again, and sees jesse’s helmet up on that stake, the tears start up again. and he cries. because that’s all he can do.

How order 66 would go down if the clones all secretly removed their chips:
"Execute Order 66-"
Cody: "With all due respect, no."
Wolffe: "With all due respect, fuck you."
Tup: "I'm sorry, I'm driving through a tunnel, you're breaking up - hello? Palps? You there?" *Hangs up*
Waxer: "New commlink, who dis"
Rex: "As much as I'd love to, I'll pass."
Boost: "I'll see if I can pencil it in."
Sinker: *makes beeping noise* "We're sorry, the clone you are trying to reach is currently unavailable, please leave your message after the-" *dissolves into giggles*
Hardcase: "Turn around, bend over, and I'll show you where you can shove your stupid order."
Fives: "Order what? Were we actually supposed to memorise those?"
Echo: "Been there, done that. 10/10 would not recommend."

Wow!! Everything about this I absolutely love!! 😍😍 I may have squealed a little bit while reading it. Keep up the good work!! ❤️
A Knight in White Armor // pt. 3
Rex X Royal!Reader
nearly two years later, brought to you by the burning desire I’ve had to yell at the trade federation since I was 6 years old. I’m a SLUT for plitical drama and for Captain Rex
for those of you who are new here:
Part one Part Two Part three Part Four Coming Soon or possibly in two years.
Did i pull an all nighter to rewrite this bc tumblr deleteed it YES. An no, I don’t know why the formatting looks like that.
Uhhhm if I tagged you, it’s because you expressed interest recently so if you want me to leave you alone (or want to be included) lemme know.
So, taglist: @robotxtrash @mackstrut @clonewarsreturns @94pigeons @skdubbs and about ten other people who messaged me on anon lmao
Y’all know the drill, this sucks and its unedited blah blah b;ah
______________
A day and a half. That’s all you allowed yourself to wallow in self pity. After that, you forced yourself to remember that whoever sent that assassin only sent them because you were doing good work.
And once you reminded yourself of that, you were back in the spotlight like you’d never left. After you made some changes, mind you, like dismissing the maids they provided and bringing in your personal maids that you’d known since you were sixteen.Of course, Rex was by your side and more protective than he had been. With his formidable presence ever present, even the more hostile politicians were hesitant to get in your face. Yes, you were back, and more determined than ever to truly make a difference.
You were also grappling with other feelings. Feelings that you buried deep into your heart until you were alone. Ever since the first time he called by name, Rex had held a soft spot in your heart. You tried to be reasonable, tell yourself that he was only doing all these things because it was his job. He was only so protective because he was ordered to do so, only candid with you because you asked him to be, so on and so forth. Those things were easy to write off, to kill any hope of him returning your feelings.
