an update

I have a chunk of the next part of the system's backstory worked out, however... some motivations don't work for me anymore. so I got stuck. I finally thought of a way for the motivations to work, but I gotta rework a lotta the story for a bit. gonna keep things updated

I got a lot to get through so let's go one by "one"

in order it will be: Dexter The system (Perry, Lionson, Turtle Master, Andrew, spoilers: Persephone, Void, Maniac) Yuuki Gikai Augustus

Dexter hates driving in the snow and his Vigilante outfit doesn't provide a lot of warmth when on patrol. though he can appreciate it when in down time and warm quote: "It would be better if it did not have to be cold for it to snow.."

the system generally really like it. all for their own reasons. Perry is the only one who doesn't like it cuz it slows him down. he can't run errands without snow slowing him down. and he's not really one to stop and smell the roses. quote: "mmaann stop being cold already!! I have shit I needa do and this snow and ice is slowing me down!!" Lionson enjoys the peace that is creates, and it gets him paid more in his construction freelancing. quote: "it's real pretty. and if nothing else I get paid more when I'm doin under the table work.- wait don't tell Dexter it's under the table.." Turtle Master loves looking at the snow. just sitting and watching it makes him feel very peaceful. quote: "I'm just... gonna sit... and watch.. the snow.... Brew me some tea.. or hot cocoa.. and watch.." Andrew feels so little care for snow. he doesn't like or hate it.. he spends most of his time in his lab with no windows so he doesn't really interact there. quote: "wait is it snowing? shoot I guess I needa send Perry to get my supplies earlier today- wait it's not snowing?? then why the fuck you asking me about snow?! get outta here!" (this question was asked in July.) the rest of the system characters haven't been introduced so spoilers: Persephone loves to explore outdoors and appreciates all kinds of weather in nature because she likes to just watch as nature grows and changes around her Quote: "oh- it's pretty! people don't recognize the sort of beauty that can come from a snowy forest.. the slightly foreboding feeling is so nice to see and feel.." Void loves the snow. he loves the silence that accompanies a snowy landscape. it lets him feel like himself. quote: "huh? me? not Maniac or- oh okay.. uh.. I like it. it's quiet. makes me feel like I'm allowed to actually be myself for once. which... isn't very common." Maniac couldn't care less about snow. he'll keep on keeping on with what he's doing in that moment no matter what the weather is. though he does like pranking Andrew by getting naked in the snow then forcing him out quote: "what? why would I care?! Dex won't spar with me in the cold but Augustus or Yuuki might. there's no weather I really care about. everything kinda gives me a different challenge.. I like finding ways around those challenges... though on slow snow days I'll pull some deviousness with Drew"

Yuuki likes the snow. it's pretty and reminds her of Asuna. as well as the fact that her Spark keeps her warm well enough Quote: "oh the cold weather doesn't really bother me so I just really like how pretty it is"

Gikai's robot body computer systems are protected from the water and the cold keeps the robot bodies running longer without having to refuel as often. Quote: "I like the snow. helps keep me going for a longer time.. pretty? I mean I guess so but you can only see so many 'pretty' videos of something before being oversaturated in it, y'know?"

Augustus likes the snow as much as any weather. he uses it as a weapon to fight and when it's snowing out his non-lethal attacks are much stronger. so he appreciates that much. quote: "awe who put you up to asking me this? Dexter? Persephone?? Logan? eh whatev's, doesn't matter.... my Snow and ice abilities with my Spark are strengthened when it's snowing so I can take people down without hurting them easier.. but I don't really care much for any particular weather... 'pretty'? m8 I do not careee. it's just a part of the sky. I see snow every day when I'm flying. it's just another thing."

You have been imprisoned for so long that you have completely lost track of time. You are not even sure whether those who imprisoned you are still alive. When finally someone came to check on you they were surprised to find you, claiming that the dungeon has been unused for centuries.

Story 2: Backstory of the Mighty System Part 2

A year later:

The teens moved in with Dexter to his compound that he lives in. Dexter went to learn as much as he could about their individual problems in order to take care of them as best he could. it took about a year but the three of them got GEDs and started looking for future prospects for themselves.

Dexter leaves a soundproofed room with Andrew, who looks like he was recently crying. "Thank you for talking to me, Andrew. I know these talks are not easy. Pulling up memories in that way can be very challenging" Andrew smiles at him and gets a drink of water "yea.. but we need that. Thanks to you I have a much better sense of what's goin on in my- sorry in our head.. later today you should show me your research on your potions. I wanna see as much as I can about it." Dexter laughs a bit "how are your classes going? I know you are smart but you will need a greater baseline understanding of bioengineering and biochemistry to have a chance to understand it" Andrew sighs and drinks the water. He's mostly through college now and Dexter still won't let him work on his potions. Or even start learning about them... "hey uh Dexter. what's the real reason I can't help you on your potion research?" he asks, worrying that it might be what he fears "You are not ready. Quite simply. Lionson, Perry and others who are impulsive still consistently come out to try and go with me during my night job." he says, clearly picking his words very carefully. "I do not want to endanger you and your system." "They just want to see you in action!" Andrew says, knowing that's not the full truth "no they want to be in the action. and I cannot allow that." he sighs "therefore I cannot allow them to have access to my pure potions. I do not know what they might do to your physiology, I do not know what they might do to your alters..." he forces himself to look Andrew in the eye and Andrew avoids the stare in turn "I am sorry.. but there is simply too many unknown variables and I am not in the business of taking risks with the lives of those I care about" "I understand. but I really can't wait to be able to research this with you." Andrew says, a calmer feminine voice behind his eyes says to him "don't worry we'll get there soon enough" and he smiles.

Elsewhere Yuuki is on the subway back to Dexter's, scrolling through Social media from the elementary school she was taken from as a kid. She lingers on an image of a student teacher that she recognizes "who...who is that?" "want help finding out?" Gikai's voice sounds in her headphones and she jump and squeals at the sudden noise as the cartoon face of Gikai shows up on her screen laughing maniacally "oohh you should see your fact right now!!" "Shut UP!! What are you doing in my phone!?" Yuuki tries her best not to just yell into her phone "aawwee I was just bored of sitting in bed in Dex's place. Plus his Therapy room is in a faraday cage so I can't eavesdrop on whatever him and Drew talk about in there" his avatar seems to swim around her screen Yuuki rolls her eyes "yea man, that's kinda the point. Dexter uses that room to help us through the shit we've been through. And you know... Andrew's been through a lot" "yea yea... aanyway... my offer still stands!" Gikai scrolls back up to the image of the teacher. "Want me to find her for ya? I can dig up everything about her if need be" he winks with a mischievous smile "I dunno... I just feel like I've seen her before." Gikai sighs and blinks off her screen, and Yuuki panics "wait wait what're you doing?! stop! don't go cyberstalk this girl for me!" "chill out I'm just looking into her history and why you know her-" Gikai's voice sounds in her headphones "oohh you definitely know her- her name is Asuna Yuki, she's a new student teacher at your elementary" her phone shows a series of screenshots of Asuna, and ends with a few of her and the Yuuki playing on a playground together. "you knew her as a little little kid" Yuuki's face turns a lighter shade of pink. "ooh- uuh- okay then.." she stutters out "uhh do you know how I could maybe contact her?" Gikai laughs "so you want my help still?" pops back up on the screen "here's her Instagram. you can message her on there" He lifts his hand and a link appears above it. Yuuki goes to click the link and Gikai quickly makes it go away "hey! give it back!" Gikai smiles slyly "ah- ah- ah~ what do you say?~" Yuuki shoots him a glare "awe don't do me like that" "thanks. Now gimme the link back!" "Tsk tsk you can do better than that~" Yuuki rolls her eyes and groans "fine. Thank you Gikai for the help." "that's better~" he smiles and presents the link again. Yuuki clicks it and saves the link to her phone. "Awe you're not gonna text her now?!" he feigns disappointment "not while you're eavesdropping, no. Go bother someone else" he looks hurt for a moment before putting his smile back on "alright. it looks like Dex and Drew are outta their little session. I'll see you at home" he says as he vanishes from her phone. She sighs and plugs her phone into her portable charger as she thinks about what she'll message her friend from back then.

Over the years, Dexter continued to help the three with their lives, giving them advice and guidance as best he can. Helping Andrew with his medical degrees and DID, making sure Gikai goes to the doctor for his illnesses and teaching him as much as he'd learn about computer design and coding, and helping Yuuki get a teaching degree.

Story 1: The Backstory for The Mighty System Part 1

They were born Sparked. Their cells act like those of an octopus. Being able to change their texture and color and all sorts of things about it, the only limitation being that they have to stay human shaped. But this power came with the fact that human brains are not designed to have that much power over their form. So they looked eerie and never human enough, until they got older. At an early age, they were cast out from their home and forced to live in the foster care system. Because of the abuse they had to endure, this child developed DID at a young age.

Their body used its original power, automatically, to look like how the personality saw itself. The host of the system was Andrew, A smart kid who exceled at school, but really only at school. Causing him to not only be hurt at whatever foster home he was in at the moment, but be bullied relentlessly at school as well. The system had a form of escape, of course. They Idolized the Authorized. Reading comics and watching shows depicting them.

They latched onto the Authorized vigilante Adamantine, who somehow seemed to be able to survive any attack thrown at them. And the child wanted to feel that safety. Their mind created the part “Turtle Master” and with this new part, their Spark ignited again. Giving just Turtle Master the ability to endure any physical strike. Though the abusers still used their words to hurt them, the children in their school still seeing them as an outcast, using any words they could to hurt The System. Not even safe at the foster home they go to, receiving the same abuse not only from other kids but also the adults. eventually the words they used hurt more than any physical violence they could face.

Eventually this abuse gave way to a new Resparking for a Piece of their mind named Lionson, who was born from Andrew's adoration of the Authorized Vigilante Hope Beast, who always seemed defeat her opponents in just a few powerful punches or kicks. This Spark gave Lionson the strength to fight anybody who needed to be fought away. This worked well enough for a while, until Lionson hurt a few too many bullies, catching the attention of authorities.

The got sent to a facility for taking care of and educating potentially dangerous Sparked children. The facility's tests specializing in finding the limits of Powerful Sparked abilities, like those of Turtle Master and Lionson. When they weren't being tested on by the facility they were in the highest security room because of the unstable history of their Spark (the constant Resparking and the power of each one)

While there, Andrew, and the rest of the system made friends with a few of the other Sparked kids who were there with them. importantly, Yuuki and Gikai. Both relatively weak

The constant fear and worry, and need to escape their confinement caused another Respark, this time for Perry, the piece of their mind created by Turtle Master's and Lionson' adoration of the Authorized Rescuer Exbolt, who specialized in freeing people from disasters, always seeming just fast enough to save everyone he needed to. The Spark gave Perry the speed to escape. And the speed to help the other children escape.

For a long while, the children that escaped the facility acted as a gang. pickpocketing tourists and stealing from local shops. Using each of their Sparks to allow them to get away with it. After a few years of this gang being entrenched in the city taking in more needy kids and only taking what they need, The Mayor's office had gotten so many complaints from shop owners and tourists that they put out a request to any and all Authorized Vigilantes to come and solve the problem of the Unsanctioned children running rampant in the city.

Then a team of Authorized Vigilantes showed up. The quickly came up with a plan to corner the gang and take them all down at once. and they did. They captured and sent most of the Unsanctioned children back to the facility that the system had helped them escape from. Every one of them but the system.

after that, the normal kids all went their separate ways. leaving the system to fend for themselves once again. They went years living off the street and barely making it by, until Dexter heard through the grapevine that there were three Sparked children who never got sent back to the facility. He went to investigate the city for anyone who might match the description. What he found was a sorry sight.

An emaciated teenager. wandering the street with fight in his eyes. looking for the first mark he could find. Dexter allowed himself to get pickpocketed by the child, so he could track the child to where he was hidden. He equipped his combat gear on and left to track the thief down. what he found was a group of three teens, living under an old mostly unused foot bridge, none of them were the kid that stole from him. There was a purple haired girl (yuuki), a very sick looking boy (Gikai), and a slightly older boy taking care of the sick one (Andrew) all three very clearly running on their last legs. He couldn't fight them. he couldn't bring himself to need bring them in.

He entered their abode and they spoke: "you are the kids that Facility Echo never got back, are you not?" Dexter tries to be as gentle in his tone as he can, as he knows the dangers the children have gone through "who's asking?" the fear in Yuuki's voice and body language doesn't suggest her to run or hide. Dexter takes his mask off and sets it next to him. "I am Dexter. I would like you to please be honest with me" "You come in here dressed like that and expect us not to be.. nervous of you?" Yuuki says, idly picking up a rock. Andrew whispers to correct her "the- the word you're looking for is wary" she shushes him "leave now so I don't have to make you" Yuuki glares, gripping the stone tighter in her hands. Dexter thinks for a moment. It might be wise to leave them. But then the sick boy might not make it. He made a decision. "I will not leave. I can help you. I can help your sick friend" it was then that Andrew began to shift in his seat. "You think that" Andrew started to speak, in a more commanding tone than before, his body contorting and becoming bigger, more muscular "that's the first time someone's said that to us?!" the second half of the sentence was completed by Lionson, glaring daggers at Dexter. Dexter's face lights up in understanding Yuuki looks at him worriedly and speaks under her breath "you sure about this? You know what happened last time you tried to fight a vigilante.. and I can't really help you." "oh I'm sure. I'll go easy this time." Lionson assured Yuuki before charging Dexter, who simply slips outside of his swing and quickly hits Lionson in the side, making him double over in pain Yuuki yells Lionson's name and throws the rock at Dexter then runs to Lionson, the rock now glowing a bring green, as he tries to dodge the projectile, it finds its mark right on his forehead. it leaves a mark but Dexter doesn't fall. "I told you I did not want to fight you. But if that is what you need in order to get you to listen I will." Dexter sighs as he walks over to Gikai laying on a makeshift bed made of stolen scarves and gloves. He reaches into one of his pockets and pulls out a vial of one of his potions and holds it out to Gikai "take this. Drink it. it should help you feel better. At least for now until I can get you into an office." "What are you giving him!! What're you gonna do to him?!" Yuuki cries while helping Lionson back to his feet. "You've gotta lotta nerve pulling a cheap trick like that!!" Lionson snaps. "How'd you even do that?" he sounds more impressed than angry Dexter answers Lionson and Yuuki while keeping an eye on Gikai. "I know pressure points and a lot of martial arts. also, it is a potion I developed to help people work and improve themselves. Though this is a more pure version so it should help your friend here get better faster than most medicine. it won't be permanent though. We will need a more permanent solution" Yuuki sighs "you're really trying to help us..?" Lionson looks at her, wide eyed "ah you have come around. Yes. I cannot on good conscience leave a group of needy children when I have the means to help them." He smiles warmly at her. Gikai looks to his friends and Lionson straightens his stance, and nods to Gikai. Gikai drinks the potion and sits up "thank you Dexter." Lionson blinks and starts to change. Taking a deep breath as the emaciated boy who stole from Dexter comes to the front. "I'm sorry. I sold your phone already... we needed cash to grab some nicer food for Gikai..." Dexter stands and pats the boy's head "do not worry. I am not upset. I slipped a tracker onto you when you took it so I could find this place. now let's get you out of here." Gikai jumps up and dashes over to Dexter. "holy crap you gotta show me how those potions work! And that Tech in your belt it's crazy! how does it all work!!" Confusion flashes across Dexter's face then he smiles "I'll explain everything when we reach my car. one at a time. this way"

then they left the city. Dexter made room in his home for the group of misfit teens. He did everything he could to make them comfortable. He hid well until he could find papers for them to allow him to help them get Sanctioned. allowing them to live their lives relatively uninhibited.

Stuff to know about: Perezon!!

Perezon this verse's Mars. The reason it's called that is because it has its own people who regular come to Earth.

Perezon is home to two different species, each one with its own powers.

The Connected are psychic beings. able to communicate in their minds and with small and weak telekinesis

The Lonesome are beings with elemental abilities. Able to control and create all sorts of elemental powers.

these two factions have been at war for the planet Perezon for the longest time. The Connected with their superior ability to keep in touch with each other and The Lonesome with their sheer power advantage mostly at a stand still.

this war punishing the normal people of the planet. Refugees show up on Earth regularly, shockingly few of said refugees last long on earth before being sent back to Perezon as Prisoners and hostages for whichever side wants them back First.

though not every Perezonian ends up being sent back to their planet.

Stuff And Things

Personality

Augustus is a very happy person. Finally with the freedom to be anywhere, and do anything he's every wanted. he tries to make as many friends and as little enemies as possible. going anywhere he wants with anyone he wants.

Sparked abilities

Augustus' natural abilities as a Lonesome Perezonian were constrained by his Spark as a kid. The natural abilities being the ability to generate winds. when his Spark ignited he became wind and further than that, moreso, became weather. he passively with his emotions controls the weather around him. moving clouds, and creating weather phenomena wherever he goes. he can turn himself and the clothes on him into anything that he can generate with his powers. (thanks to the Magic Thread that Logan (his adopted brother) found and added to them) he can generate wind, snow, water, hail, or lightning with his body and use them as projectiles or other things. often making constructs with the snow he can generate, for example. if he removes the Magic Thread from the Clothes Logan made for him he can only hold his base form for so long before becoming a massive storm automatically, strong enough to pick skyscrapers off their foundations and hurl them around.

Backstory

Augustus is a Perezonian. One of the Lonesome. His natural abilities allow him to generate weak winds. However he is one of the only non-earth-born to have been born with a Spark. as a child his Spark suppressed his power. and his family would try to escape the planet and go to Earth to give him a better life, alongside many many other refugees from Perezon.

a combination of both anti-air weapons from Perezon and space defense weapons of earth, made the ship that Augustus' family and friends escape on fall apart upon entry to Earth's atmosphere. Watching everyone in he knows get burned up in the atmosphere, his Spark ignited. Allowing him to survive the crash landing into the ocean, and the aimless drifting until he found land in Florida. A small boy found him and took him home, and the boy's family Nursed Augustus back to health.

Augustus and his new family layed low in order to keep him from being sent back to Perezon. using their lucky amount of wealth to get him properly into schools and the like.

after years of laying low a social rights movement was able to get a law passed that allowed refugee Perezonians who lived in America for more than half their lives to be part of society and not be forced to be sent back. And Augustus became the first Sanctioned, then only Authorized Sparked.

Stuff to know about: Systems for the Sparked!!

Basic system:

There is a ranking system for Sparked individuals with three main ranks

The Authorized Sparks: these are the people who have been given an allowance by their government to use their abilities for any purpose that their government allows. These are the ones who the world at large would see as heroes and such. It's important to note, however that the authorization can be taken away just as easily as it can be given.

The Sanctioned Sparks: these are people with ignited sparks that are legally known about. They are technically allowed to use their Spark as long as it doesn't effect anyone else.

The Unsanctioned Sparks: these are the people who have ignited sparks but haven't reported to their Authorities. Often criminals but equally often are just people, with no ability/time/money to become a Sanctioned.

Important to note:

There is a social class of Sanctioned that doesn't really have a name. but it comprises mostly of Sanctioned who are trying to become Authorized or Authorized that lost that status for whatever reason. they are the "street level heroes" like spiderman or Daredevil

Sparks are the "Magic system" of Earth

The history of Sparks

For as far back in Earth's history as we can look, there have been Sparks. Little pieces of pure energy and power. Anything could be born with a Spark, which would normally lie dormant inside them until an event properly traumatic or intense enough for the spark to ignite. Giving the Sparked individual some sort of ability or power.

The Science of Sparks

While various plants and animals throughout Earth's natural history (and even some aliens but we'll get back to that) have been shown to have Sparks ignited, there is no creature in the cosmos that its as common as humans.

While any other given species has about a 0.05% chance of even having a Spark, Humans have a whopping 10% chance of being born with a Spark. These numbers, of course don't account for the likelihood that someone would have an event dangerous enough to ignite the Spark inside them, and also survive said event.

Sparks are as small as an electron when unignited, they produce a near imperceptible amount of light, only science's most advanced microscopes can even see the light they produce. Once ignited the Spark will grow to a size noticeable by normal classroom microscopes and their glow intensifies 20 fold.

If a Sparked individual (with it ignited or not) dies with their the Spark keeps glowing and radiating power until it is acted upon by anything other than the original Spark holder. at which point it is permanently rendered inert and cannot be repowered in any way.

A potential alien with a Spark can only have that spark ignited on Earth. Aliens with Sparks are more rare, there have only ever been a few recorded cases of it even happening.

Stuff to know about: Earth!!

Earth in this Verse is just like ours. however there are a few things that are different:

On earth there is a phenomenon called Sparks. Sparks are a special power inside people that when "ignited" grants them a special ability or power (there will be another post going into more detail about what Sparks are and how they work)

In response to these Sparks, governments around the world have joined and made a system to categorize and contain Sparked individuals (again there will be more on this later)

because of these Sparks there isn't super hero stories as we know them. They will have some stories and stuff about things like that. Some will be historically accurate and basically nonfiction (think more interesting textbooks), some will be over exaggerations and dramatizations (think Hamilton), and some will be fully fictional.

I'm not sure how much of IRL history will be a part of this verse. I'll probably add some in as time goes.

Gikai scrolls back up to the image of the teacher. "Want me to find her for ya? I can dig up everything about her if need be" he winks with a mischievous smile "I dunno... I just feel like I've seen her before." Gikai sighs and blinks off her screen, and Yuuki panics "wait wait what're you doing?! stop! don't go cyberstalk this girl for me!" "chill out I'm just looking into her history and why you know her-" Gikai's voice sounds in her headphones "oohh you definitely know her- her name is Asuna Yuki, she's a new student teacher at your elementary" her phone shows a series of screenshots of Asuna, and ends with a few of her and the Yuuki playing on a playground together. "you knew her as a little little kid" Yuuki's face turns a lighter shade of pink. "ooh- uuh- okay then.." she stutters out "uhh do you know how I could maybe contact her?" Gikai laughs "so you want my help still?" pops back up on the screen "here's her Instagram. you can message her on there" He lifts his hand and a link appears above it. Yuuki goes to click the link and Gikai quickly makes it go away "hey! give it back!" Gikai smiles slyly "ah- ah- ah~ what do you say?~" Yuuki shoots him a glare "awe don't do me like that" "thanks. Now gimme the link back!" "Tsk tsk you can do better than that~" Yuuki rolls her eyes and groans "fine. Thank you Gikai for the help." "that's better~" he smiles and presents the link again. Yuuki clicks it and saves the link to her phone. "Awe you're not gonna text her now?!" he feigns disappointment "not while you're eavesdropping, no. Go bother someone else" he looks hurt for a moment before putting his smile back on "alright. it looks like Dex and Drew are outta their little session. I'll see you at home" he says as he vanishes from her phone. She sighs and plugs her phone into her portable charger as she thinks about what she'll message her friend from back then.

Over the years, Dexter continued to help the three with their lives, giving them advice and guidance as best he can. Helping Andrew with his medical degrees and DID, making sure Gikai goes to the doctor for his illnesses and teaching him as much as he'd learn about computer design and coding, and helping Yuuki get a teaching degree.

They were born Sparked. Their cells act like those of an octopus. Being able to change their texture and color and all sorts of things about it, the only limitation being that they have to stay human shaped. But this power came with the fact that human brains are not designed to have that much power over their form. So they looked eerie and never human enough, until they got older. At an early age, they were cast out from their home and forced to live in the foster care system. Because of the abuse they had to endure, this child developed DID at a young age.

Their body used its original power, automatically, to look like how the personality saw itself. The host of the system was Andrew, A smart kid who exceled at school, but really only at school. Causing him to not only be hurt at whatever foster home he was in at the moment, but be bullied relentlessly at school as well. The system had a form of escape, of course. They Idolized the Authorized. Reading comics and watching shows depicting them.

They latched onto the Authorized vigilante Adamantine, who somehow seemed to be able to survive any attack thrown at them. And the child wanted to feel that safety. Their mind created the part “Turtle Master” and with this new part, their Spark ignited again. Giving just Turtle Master the ability to endure any physical strike. Though the abusers still used their words to hurt them, the children in their school still seeing them as an outcast, using any words they could to hurt The System. Not even safe at the foster home they go to, receiving the same abuse not only from other kids but also the adults. eventually the words they used hurt more than any physical violence they could face.

Eventually this abuse gave way to a new Resparking for a Piece of their mind named Lionson, who was born from Andrew's adoration of the Authorized Vigilante Hope Beast, who always seemed defeat her opponents in just a few powerful punches or kicks. This Spark gave Lionson the strength to fight anybody who needed to be fought away. This worked well enough for a while, until Lionson hurt a few too many bullies, catching the attention of authorities.

The got sent to a facility for taking care of and educating potentially dangerous Sparked children. The facility's tests specializing in finding the limits of Powerful Sparked abilities, like those of Turtle Master and Lionson. When they weren't being tested on by the facility they were in the highest security room because of the unstable history of their Spark (the constant Resparking and the power of each one)

While there, Andrew, and the rest of the system made friends with a few of the other Sparked kids who were there with them. importantly, Yuuki and Gikai. Both relatively weak

The constant fear and worry, and need to escape their confinement caused another Respark, this time for Perry, the piece of their mind created by Turtle Master's and Lionson' adoration of the Authorized Rescuer Exbolt, who specialized in freeing people from disasters, always seeming just fast enough to save everyone he needed to. The Spark gave Perry the speed to escape. And the speed to help the other children escape.

For a long while, the children that escaped the facility acted as a gang. pickpocketing tourists and stealing from local shops. Using each of their Sparks to allow them to get away with it. After a few years of this gang being entrenched in the city taking in more needy kids and only taking what they need, The Mayor's office had gotten so many complaints from shop owners and tourists that they put out a request to any and all Authorized Vigilantes to come and solve the problem of the Unsanctioned children running rampant in the city.

Then a team of Authorized Vigilantes showed up. The quickly came up with a plan to corner the gang and take them all down at once. and they did. They captured and sent most of the Unsanctioned children back to the facility that the system had helped them escape from. Every one of them but the system.

after that, the normal kids all went their separate ways. leaving the system to fend for themselves once again. They went years living off the street and barely making it by, until Dexter heard through the grapevine that there were three Sparked children who never got sent back to the facility. He went to investigate the city for anyone who might match the description. What he found was a sorry sight.

An emaciated teenager. wandering the street with fight in his eyes. looking for the first mark he could find. Dexter allowed himself to get pickpocketed by the child, so he could track the child to where he was hidden. He equipped his combat gear on and left to track the thief down. what he found was a group of three teens, living under an old mostly unused foot bridge, none of them were the kid that stole from him. There was a purple haired girl (yuuki), a very sick looking boy (Gikai), and a slightly older boy taking care of the sick one (Andrew) all three very clearly running on their last legs. He couldn't fight them. he couldn't bring himself to need bring them in.

He entered their abode and they spoke: "you are the kids that Facility Echo never got back, are you not?" Dexter tries to be as gentle in his tone as he can, as he knows the dangers the children have gone through "who's asking?" the fear in Yuuki's voice and body language doesn't suggest her to run or hide. Dexter takes his mask off and sets it next to him. "I am Dexter. I would like you to please be honest with me" "You come in here dressed like that and expect us not to be.. nervous of you?" Yuuki says, idly picking up a rock. Andrew whispers to correct her "the- the word you're looking for is wary" she shushes him "leave now so I don't have to make you" Yuuki glares, gripping the stone tighter in her hands. Dexter thinks for a moment. It might be wise to leave them. But then the sick boy might not make it. He made a decision. "I will not leave. I can help you. I can help your sick friend" it was then that Andrew began to shift in his seat. "You think that" Andrew started to speak, in a more commanding tone than before, his body contorting and becoming bigger, more muscular "that's the first time someone's said that to us?!" the second half of the sentence was completed by Lionson, glaring daggers at Dexter. Dexter's face lights up in understanding Yuuki looks at him worriedly and speaks under her breath "you sure about this? You know what happened last time you tried to fight a vigilante.. and I can't really help you." "oh I'm sure. I'll go easy this time." Lionson assured Yuuki before charging Dexter, who simply slips outside of his swing and quickly hits Lionson in the side, making him double over in pain Yuuki yells Lionson's name and throws the rock at Dexter then runs to Lionson, the rock now glowing a bring green, as he tries to dodge the projectile, it finds its mark right on his forehead. it leaves a mark but Dexter doesn't fall. "I told you I did not want to fight you. But if that is what you need in order to get you to listen I will." Dexter sighs as he walks over to Gikai laying on a makeshift bed made of stolen scarves and gloves. He reaches into one of his pockets and pulls out a vial of one of his potions and holds it out to Gikai "take this. Drink it. it should help you feel better. At least for now until I can get you into an office." "What are you giving him!! What're you gonna do to him?!" Yuuki cries while helping Lionson back to his feet. "You've gotta lotta nerve pulling a cheap trick like that!!" Lionson snaps. "How'd you even do that?" he sounds more impressed than angry Dexter answers Lionson and Yuuki while keeping an eye on Gikai. "I know pressure points and a lot of martial arts. also, it is a potion I developed to help people work and improve themselves. Though this is a more pure version so it should help your friend here get better faster than most medicine. it won't be permanent though. We will need a more permanent solution" Yuuki sighs "you're really trying to help us..?" Lionson looks at her, wide eyed "ah you have come around. Yes. I cannot on good conscience leave a group of needy children when I have the means to help them." He smiles warmly at her. Gikai looks to his friends and Lionson straightens his stance, and nods to Gikai. Gikai drinks the potion and sits up "thank you Dexter." Lionson blinks and starts to change. Taking a deep breath as the emaciated boy who stole from Dexter comes to the front. "I'm sorry. I sold your phone already... we needed cash to grab some nicer food for Gikai..." Dexter stands and pats the boy's head "do not worry. I am not upset. I slipped a tracker onto you when you took it so I could find this place. now let's get you out of here." Gikai jumps up and dashes over to Dexter. "holy crap you gotta show me how those potions work! And that Tech in your belt it's crazy! how does it all work!!" Confusion flashes across Dexter's face then he smiles "I'll explain everything when we reach my car. one at a time. this way"

then they left the city. Dexter made room in his home for the group of misfit teens. He did everything he could to make them comfortable. He hid well until he could find papers for them to allow him to help them get Sanctioned. allowing them to live their lives relatively uninhibited.

Personality

Dexter is a very deadpan person. He seems very soulless and cold, but those close to him know that he holds more passion for what he cares about than most people. regularly bringing in people who need help or even just a place to stay for a night.

Sparked Abilities/In Combat

Dexter's cells are the most conductive material in the world. it makes the neurons in his brain literally fire and communicate faster with each other making him the smartest person in the world, and the fastest learner in the world. he uses a combination of his vast intellect and his own skin cells to develop technologies (computers and such) that are smaller and more powerful than any other tech company can compete with. He sells this tech at a high, but still reasonable price point, Despite the low supply of it. he uses his medical knowledge he gained from a year in medical school to make what he calls Potions that enhance the strength, agility, and durability of any organism that drinks them. He sells watered down versions of these at a steal as medicinal energy drinks, designed to help people work out and feel good about themselves. In combat he uses his intellect to set traps and out think his opponents. he uses vials of his blood (both hydrated and dehydrated) to set up long complicated wiring for the traps that he sets. he uses his Potions to enhance his already decently strong body to superhuman levels

Backstory

It took him and his family most of his life to find out that he was a Sparked because the only advantage it gave him in his life was making him think and react faster. This is because the signals that his cells send moved faster.  When he realized what had happened, he got registered as a Sparked. He then started using his blood and other cells to make parts for a computer brand that was impossible to compete with the quality of. All of his connections from that computer brand helped him start multiple tech companies, and he picked up and learned as much as he could in as many areas as he could ranging from biomedical engineering to as many forms of martial arts as he could master. Using his Spark to learn and internalize quickly and easily. He got Authorized to use his spark for research and development, as well as to sell the things he creates with his spark. At some point, though, he decided he's seen enough suffering at the sands of Unsanctioned Sparks becoming criminals and harming those around them. He became a vigilante, going by the name "Redstone Ninja" being inspired by a child he adopted saying his blood kind of works like Redstone from Minecraft. He doesn't just fight Unsanctioned criminals and nothing else. He gives lots of them that he sees are just in need of a way out of their situation as many resources as he can. His vigilantism is entirely anonymous. To keep his loved ones and research separate from his Identity as a Vigilante. This is why he has not gotten Authorized to be a vigilante, becoming Authorized puts all of your information into publicly accessible documents.

Sparks are the "Magic system" of Earth

The history of Sparks

For as far back in Earth's history as we can look, there have been Sparks. Little pieces of pure energy and power. Anything could be born with a Spark, which would normally lie dormant inside them until an event properly traumatic or intense enough for the spark to ignite. Giving the Sparked individual some sort of ability or power.

The Science of Sparks

While various plants and animals throughout Earth's natural history (and even some aliens but we'll get back to that) have been shown to have Sparks ignited, there is no creature in the cosmos that its as common as humans.

While any other given species has about a 0.05% chance of even having a Spark, Humans have a whopping 10% chance of being born with a Spark. These numbers, of course don't account for the likelihood that someone would have an event dangerous enough to ignite the Spark inside them, and also survive said event.

Sparks are as small as an electron when unignited, they produce a near imperceptible amount of light, only science's most advanced microscopes can even see the light they produce. Once ignited the Spark will grow to a size noticeable by normal classroom microscopes and their glow intensifies 20 fold.

If a Sparked individual (with it ignited or not) dies with their the Spark keeps glowing and radiating power until it is acted upon by anything other than the original Spark holder. at which point it is permanently rendered inert and cannot be repowered in any way.

Stuff to know about: Earth!!

Earth in this Verse is just like ours. however there are a few things that are different:

On earth there is a phenomenon called Sparks. Sparks are a special power inside people that when "ignited" grants them a special ability or power (there will be another post going into more detail about what Sparks are and how they work)

In response to these Sparks, governments around the world have joined and made a system to categorize and contain Sparked individuals (again there will be more on this later)

because of these Sparks there isn't super hero stories as we know them. They will have some stories and stuff about things like that. Some will be historically accurate and basically nonfiction (think more interesting textbooks), some will be over exaggerations and dramatizations (think Hamilton), and some will be fully fictional.

I'm not sure how much of IRL history will be a part of this verse. I'll probably add some in as time goes.
