It’s Leo season! The emotional spells and moodiness that Cancer influenced upon us are now being put to the side as we realize our worth and regain our strength. We have been drenched in Cancer’s tears and roaring waves.. Now we are ready to meet the sunshine and own our experiences. During Leo season, we can expect to witness a rise of dramatic scenes, style changes, attention grabs, and newfound confidence and pride in ourselves.

This is our chance to ignite the fires of Leo, manifest good things, and create magnificence. Mercury Retrograde will ask us to rest and reflect on our previous actions while the July Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon will provide us with the ability to put to rest all of our demons, negative habits, and toxic baggage once and for all which will definitely aid each and every one of us in starting anew. Death and rebirth are painful but they are necessary.

Charms and How to Make Them

A charm is any object, usually pocket-sized, that’s charged with energy of some kind. An example is a lucky charm that’s worn as a necklace or a lock of hair charged with energy from the person it came from.

Charms can sometimes be called talismans, totems or pendants. Regardless of the name, with slight connotations, these little items can be used the same way.

I use charms when sometimes a crystal isn’t specific enough for my Intent (spell, ritual). Sometimes I’m doing an Intent based on my job but Citrine, also known as the Merchant’s Stone, isn’t quite specific enough, I’ll include a charm I charged with a specific energy.

For example let’s say I really need a specific day off but my job needs as many employees as it can schedule so often times they deny requests for time off, I’ll do an Intent using a golf pencil I took from the scheduling office.

I also collect the charms I have so that I can reuse them whenever an Intent needs it. Or, if it’s appropriate for the day, I’ll carry the charm in my pocket all day.

How to charge Charms

The easiest way to charge any object as a charm is if it already has a personal meaning to it. Choose something that reminds you of whatever that energy is. I have two cross pendants; one is wooden that reminds me of Catholicism and the second is metal and reminds me of Protestants. (Not because one is primitive to the other but because one came before the other.)

Once you have chosen an item and it’s meaning is clear, it’s time to charge with energy.

Purify the space you’re in to rid of residue energy (e.g. burning incense)

Use crystals for meditation and visualization, utilize crystal grids (simple or complex)

Write the specific meaning/significance/value of the charm on a piece of paper so you have a clear interpretation of it (you could make a prayer/incantation)

Burn a purple candle and drop wax on the paper connecting your Third Eye/Psyche to the energy attaching itself to the charm (one or two drops per charm, don’t waste a whole candle on one)

Once you have your Charms

Cataloging them in your guild book wouldn’t hurt. Like I mentioned, you can use them in specific Intents or carry them with you. Gift them to friends so they have energies around them. I also collect mine in a box so they aren’t randomly roaming around.

I like to use Charms in my Intents because they’re reusable, less waste and I don’t have to worry about purchasing new ones as if they run out (unless you give it away or lose it). Although I’ve come to realize the best charms are the ones I find randomly on the ground or in an old drawer. They radiate an energy that’s almost communicative like when grandparents tell you a simple memory but it sticks with you forever.

1 ♡ ONE HOT MESS

when the Earth came to existence millions of years ago, there were clouds of gas swirling around that formed into a dense pool of dust. when this substance contracted it became a hot ball of molten magma and over eternities of time the surface of this seething ball cooled down and became the crust that is now our Earths mantle. the deep inner magma core of our planet is still boiling and not only provides our home with warmth and energy but also contains all primary substances that rocks and crystals need in order to be formed. through heat and movement of the Earth it happens that the hot magma can break out of the surface of our planet and when this utterly hot liquid cools down and solidifies, crystals are being created.

2 ♡ BABY TYPES

the size of the crystalline rocks is depending on the length of the cooling-down-process - the longer it takes, the larger the crystals get. some crystals can take hundreds of years to form and others are created in an instant. when crystals are being composed by only one element, we call them Minerals and when they are made of more than one, we call them Rocks. when magma cools down and stones crystallize within lava, we call them Volcanics - those are usually pretty small because the process goes really quick and they do not have the time to grow to being large crystals. a lot of stones are being formed within the core of the Earth: Plutonic Rocks. they are being created within the fluid magma and so it happens that the heavier fragments sink down and the lighter ones rise up. this process explains why we can find different stones in different layers of the Earth.

3 ♡ EARTH CANDY

all the stones have different chemical compounds which are responsible for all the beautiful colors of crystals. the same stone can appear in several different color types: the chemical fundamental structure can contain several impurities for example of chromium, iron, cobalt, manganese, nickel and silicon. mineral veins and cracks inside of stones are resonsible for light refractions and can make a crystal have an amazing play of light and reflections. delicate inclusions of gas and water can make a crystal shine, shimmer and sparkle. minerals exist in all types of translucence: there are clear ones, semi-transparent and matte ones. entirely sheer ones like clear quartz contain all colors within them and are able to refract white light - that is also containing all colors - back into the single components, the rainbow colors, and dissolve them so that they appear entirely colorless.

one type of crystal always grows in the same pattern, and there are 7 basic growing patterns a crystal can have: cubic, trigonal, hexagonal, tetragonal, rhombical, monoclinic and triclinic - but there are also stones that do not have a crystalline growing pattern and so we call them amorphic. lastly, all stones have a certain hardness. since around 200 years, we use the scale of Mohs, who was a german geologist and mineralogist. there are hardenings of 1 to 10 and each higher level of hardness can carve the one that is below it. for example, hardness 1 and 2 (but less easy) can be carved with a fingernail, hardness 4 can be carved with glass, hardness 7 can carve glass itself, and hardness 10 can not be carved at all and is also even able to carve all other gemstones.

THE BERYL FAMILY

the beautiful crystal family of BERYL has in common that they are composed of Beryllium Aluminium Cyclosilicate, that their Mohß-hardness is 7,5 - 8 and that they usually grow in hexagonal shaped crystals. this means they are not spikey and terminated like for example quartz crystals that you see around.

BERYL EXAMPLES

the wonderful thing about this crystal − it is found in really a lot of countries all over the world and also occurs in many wonderful colors [ this is due to various chemical impurities, like iron compounds ] with the result that all of them have different meanings, associations and magical properties.

TYPES OF BERYL

AQUAMARINE − CYAN

the pale blue (and sometimes greenish blue) version of this stone corresponds to the throat chakra, which makes it an excellent stone for matters that revolve around communication and (emotional) expression. it is also a wonderful crystal for sea related magic. if you’re a water or sea witch - this stone is really good for your magical workings around the element of water.

MAXIXE BERYL − BOLD BLUE

i assume with the bold blue color it might either correspond with the throat chakra as well, or maybe with the third eye chakra, which would make it a wonderful tool for visualization. this type of beryl is quite rare and mostly used in jewelry, so there isn’t all too much on the internet about healing properties and magical powers. will fade color in sunlight (!)

EMERALD − BOLD GREEN

this is a really well-known type of beryl as its green color is really famous. this stone corresponds best with the heart chakra and is especially useful for magic that relates to prosperity, abundance, growth, peace, harmony and love.

GOLDEN BERYL − YELLOW−GOLDEN

HELIODOR − GREEN−YELLOW

golden beryls and heliodors names are often used as the same thing, but that’s not the truth. both have similar healing powers, but in color you can see a slight difference (golden beryl really looks like a golden ray of sunshine, and heliodor looks a bit more greenish yellow). golden beryl corresponds well with the solar plexus chakra and helps with motivation and self-confidence.

GOSHENITE − COLORLESS

this is the purest type of beryl as it has no impurities that would cause a color. this stone is associated with the moon and the angels, and is generally a very spiritual and high vibrational crystal with lots of different powers.

MORGANITE − LIGHT PINK

this type of beryl is my personal favourite one (aha) because it is associated with divine love, healing and compassion and invokes all the positive feelings and emotions. it corresponds well with the heart chakra.

BIXBITE − BOLD RED−PINK

it corresponds with the root chakra and therefore is associated with qualities like energy and vitality, helping with health matters and also with self-esteem.
