Earlier this year I invested in my first crystal ball! It’s a big one, and was expensive. I got one that had inclusions, veins, etc. and not a clear one (I didn’t want glass and the clear ones were waaayyy out of budget).

My personal experience has been the following:

Dim the lights, use candle light, and relax into a meditative state, and practice letting your eyes relax so they go slightly blurry.

You might not “see” things in the crystal ball literally. Instead, you may see them in your mind. You may hear words. I’m sure it’s different for every person.

Sometimes things need time to process. Many of my sessions had me seeing things that I couldn’t put together, but once I slept on it all, it all made sense the next morning.

This is something that took me a few tries to “see” anything. It requires more ability to stay in that “trance” meditative state, and being able to put things together yourself (whereas tarot is pretty straightforward, to me at least). So don’t think you’re bad at it or it’s not for you if you don’t get it first try!

You don’t need a crystal ball, you don’t even need crystal. I personally have found more and easier success when scrying in water that is in a dark dish in dim lighting. (But I still love my ball it makes me feel magical). (Water is much more affordable though.)

I think I followed a YouTube video instruction the very first time - just typed in “how to scry with crystal ball” and you’ll come up with a few results. From there I let it develop personally.

I hope that helps anon a little bit. I don’t have sources for this one because I kind of just went the self-exploration route.

Have you ever used a crystal ball in your craft? Do you have any notes or resources about it?

Hi! I have done various forms of scrying, including the use of clear quartz crystals, but none ever polished into the form of a sphere.

I'm afraid this has never been a particular interest of mine so no resources are coming to mind.

Is there any help on this from the dash?

possibly controversial opinion, however, I am extremely wary of how people in witchy & pagan spaces are beginning to spiritualise ‘inner child work’. For those unknowing, inner child is a psychotherapy & IFS concept that seeks to provide therapy via metaphorical ‘parts’—the idea is that all of us have ‘parts’ that operate like a family unit. I won’t go into too much detail because I myself am not a licensed therapist, my biological mother is, but overall I am extremely wary of people trying to recommend courses/spells/rituals for a psychotherapy model especially without the guidance of someone actually trained in this. IFS can do serious damage even with a trained therapist, so why is it becoming a practice people are pushing as necessary in some spiritual spaces?

welcome to my blog. i’ve made this acct as a means to reconnect with my craft after sort of falling out of practice after having a baby almost two years ago. I’ve been practicing some semblance of magick and witchcraft my whole life, growing up with spiritual home and all that, but got more serious about my practice when i was 18. i am now 25.

some facts abt me and my craft:

australian. 25years old. scorpio sun, leo moon, aries rising. i have a toddler son. tattoo artist. trained beauty and relaxation massage therapist.

eclectic witch: chaos. lunar. astrology. blood/sanguine. sex. sea (but also a bit scared of the ocean but i love it so much also, so i won’t go in further then my knees?). crystal.

i have interests in demonology and mythology, but i haven’t ever worked with a deity or infernal as i feel my knowledge hasn’t quite reached that level in those fields to safely and respectfully do it. i have learnt about and dabbled in those fields of knowledge most my life, but i just don’t feel my knowledge is all there and has lots of room of education on these matters before i begin working with anything/anyone, if i ever decide to. i’m not entirely sure yet if i want to worship and practice with one or the other or if i could combine them. i have however always felt a very strong connection and pull to the infernal and demons, ever since i can remember, and even with my mythology interests they always have been pulled to the underworld ive noticed.

i am spiritual but have no religion. i don’t believe in any one religion. i more so believe in the universe and nature and myself and believe that there are multiple gods and entities of a higher power/vibration and stuff that we just can’t quite explain through science. so i don’t see the point in believing in one specific religion as none of them feel right to me personally. it would be far to rigid and like putting myself into a box if i were to pick a religion, at least personally.

i feel like satanism would possibly be the closest religious practice i could agree with and could possibly follow belief wise.

so going clockwise from the top right. the ones on the right, Mom got me off temu as part of my birthday present months ago. the ones on the left, I got last night along with the key. and then there's dice I got forever ago to the left of that, and my blue bag of runes in the background.

can't remember what the red is. green looks like jade, purple is amethyst, brown I assume is tiger's eye, and two small smooth pieces of quartz. it's missing lapis lazuli that threw itself down the drain the first night I shadowed a tour at the shop/ company I'm gonna be working with.

the rest on the left I got last night at a local witchy store. well, they appear to have expanded here to New Orleans but got their start in Salem? I went into Omens but apparently they're the sister store to Hex: Old World Witchery. (old world they say, but have voodoo stuff on their shops, smh. xP)

there's a hunk of quartz there at the bottom that's the clearest, and to the left of it is opalite. the black is supposedly jet and the purple with green specks is grape agate?

both the brown one, and the clear one with orange, were in the bin that said aragonite

the bright green with the swirls is malachite and the green with white is apparently tree agate

some more pictures from different angles. the picture with the black background is from last night right after I'd gotten them because that's my skirt, lol

so according to the labels in the shop I got them from:

opalite: to work on self-love, improve mood, & attract business

jet: for divination & "to invoke the Great Goddess"

grape agate: prophetic dreams, visions, & intense meditation

aragonite: to draw upon the energies of "the Earth Goddess"

tree agate: to restore energy, relax, & connect deeply with nature

malachite: for love, balance, guarding children, & protection

Idk how I feel about those descriptions but they definitely jumped out at/ called to me, and for similar feelings to what the description said even if the descriptions didn't feel or seem quite completely the most accurate.
