Hi friends!
So, I started learning German almost three years ago now, and I’ve finally been granted the chance to go to Berlin! I can afford the base cost of the course and lessons, accommodation, resources, and all that stuff on my own. However I’ll need assistance from you guys to collect the CA$1800 (~US$1300, ~€1200) needed for my flights!! If any of you have even a couple of dollars to spare, I’ve created a GoFundMe that you can access by clicking here!
I understand that a lot of you are in a similar position to me, where you can barely afford anything as it is, so please do not feel obligated!! Even if you just reblog this post to help spread the word to someone who’s maybe in a more fortunate position where they have some extra funds to spare would be fantastic!
In return for your donations, I’ll try to show just how grateful I am! (Although I don’t have much to offer!) If you’d like, I can offer help with German or French B1 and lower, but I’m not a professional teacher or anything, so I can merely help. I’m also a native English speaker so maybe I could assist you with your English if it happens not to be your native language! (see: trilingualism) I could also offer you something semi-music related(??), as I’m also a musician (see: whynotpiccolo), whether that be theory, composition, or lessons is up to you!
Thank you so much in advance!

If you could pick an academic field to study out of sheer interest and not the bludgeoning despair of trying to survive capitalism, what would it be? I’d definitely definitely!! do astrophysics.

|| 01-02-2017 🌌📡🛌
I’m just trying to get through this week, and I have Little Leia to help me out.
Pow-wow time: I’ve struggled with mental illness for many years now. I’ve had ups and downs, as we all have, and I’ve powered through to the best of my ability. As I get closer and closer to college, however, balancing self-care and school has only gotten more difficult. When I moved to a new high school last year, I was pumped. It was highly ranked in the state - especially in comparison to the school I was previously at - and seemed much more my speed. The classes are weighted harder, the work is rigorous ten-fold, the students are the exact type of competition I was looking for. I’ve realized, though, that in my other district I was able to bs my way to a 4.0 and a place at the top because it was too easy. I never had to study, I could get away with not doing a few homework assignments, etc. Now I’m in a completely opposing position and although it’s my second year in, it still drives me crazy and, at times, makes me feel completely incompetent. I’m doing well for someone who went through such a drastic transition, but I still feel as though I should be doing better. I should b e better.
Part of that is the mental illness. The bigger part, I think, is coping with the stark differences between the two school districts. I used to be a big fish in a pond of little fish, and now I’m the same sized fish in a pond with a variety of prey and predator. Some fish are like me, others are bigger; I’ve never experienced that before.
I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get on medication soon. Just to try it out, ya know? The way(s) I’ve always dealt with it all just don’t seem to be working anymore, and I know that’s okay. If I need medication to function, that’s okay. If I need a break a little more often than other people, that’s okay, too. I have to do what’s best for me.

Slightly impromptu trip to the Franklin Institute today. It seems like no matter how often I complain about my science classes, I’m always sucked right back into the wonder of it all (except for chemistry - I’ll never like chemistry). It’s crazy thinking that we’ve come this far and yet there are leagues and leagues of knowledge that we still do not possess.

|| 12-28-2016 ☕️💵 I think I’ve come to realize that, sometimes, going to a place like B&N or Starbucks is not going to motivate you any more than you already are (or aren’t), nor will it spike productivity. Sometimes, there will be unproductive study sessions that consist of downing peppermint hot chocolate and uselessly skimming through notes. Sometimes, the best thing to do is buckle down at home, put a movie on in the background, and get to it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Tomorrow will always be there, though.

Today was such a long, eventful and kinda exciting day! so many things happened! A fellow student copied a presentation me and my friend made 🙄 and now we’re in trouble even though we’ve done nothing wrong! Our experiment is going to start tomorrow (it’s about the physical stress response dependent on the effect of relaxing music) and me and a friend of mine practiced for it which was a lot of fun. I just got home from a seminar which is about psychological interviews and we had to record a 2 hour interview in writing. It was so exhausting :D but also really interesting! Idk but I love days like these when so many unexpected things happen. It somehow makes me glad to be alive and that’s one of the best feelings ever :’)

Hope everyone’s been enjoying their Christmas! Happy Chanukah, as well!
Among the novels, Fitbit, and language books I got today, I think I found some motivation, too. I’m hoping these will help keep me on track. The new clothes didn’t hurt, either 😋. Dressing up always makes me feel better!
What did you guys get? Anything to enhance productivity or maintain motivation? I’d love to know! 😁😊
On a side note, there have been unforeseen complications with my Fitbit: I can't wear it and my watch at the same time; my reputation as a fashion mogul is in peril.
