Merry Murphy Week- Day 6: Pistachions

After gazing at the Northern Lights for 30 minutes, Dakota and Cavendish went back to their car to find that they got 36 missed calls from Mr. Block. They decided to call him since they’ve been procrastinating far enough. They saw a person on the other side of the phone, but it wasn’t Mr. Block, or a human. It was a pistachion. Dakota and Cavendish quickly went back in the 21st century to fight em off. Meanwhile, Milo and his two friends were walking Christmas specials while being wrapped up in blankets. Then all of a sudden, a huge pistachion ran into the house trying to grab Milo, Melissa, and Zach. They all were frightened from shock, that they backed up into a corner as the pistachion came closer to them. But as he was reaching out to the children, Dakota jumped on him from behind and tried to strangle him down. This allowed them to run and get help or find weapons. After a few attempts, the pistachion finally shook Dakota off his back. Cavendish caught Dakota and tried to drag him behind a bush, but the pistachion we’re going towards the two partners now. Milo tried to find a way to stop the pistachion by throwing an Apple at it, but now it’s targeting towards Milo. Milo had no idea what to do since he left his backpack at his house. Melissa, who is hiding in the corner, told him to open his present and use it as a weapon. Milo agreed and opened the pinned wrapped present to find a leaf flower filled with liquid nitrogen. Everyone stood back as Milo pointed the leaf flower at the bloodlust pistachion. Milo closed his eyes as he sprayed the extremely cold liquid at pistachion. The pistachion was screaming in pain as it slowly became frozen from the liquid nitrogen. Milo turned off the leaf blower as he opened his eyes to see the frozen, statue-like pistachion. Everyone else got out from their hiding spot and looked at it shocked. Milo apologized to Melissa that he opened her present before Christmas, but Melissa actually found that awesome and old Milo that he saved them all from the pistachion. As everyone was surrounding the frozen pistachion, the noticed the darkness outside becoming light and snowflakes began to fall. It’s Christmas day!

Merry Murphy Week- Day 5: Free Day

After riding on the bus for a while, it crashed down due to Murphy’s Law and they had to walk the rest of the day to Melissa’s house. Fortunately, her house was only two blocks away and they decided to take the shortcut. Since the snow is starting to pick up again, Melissa invited Zach and Milo to stay the rest of the night until morning. Milo apologized for the mess he made, but Melissa wasn’t bothered by it at all. Then she and Zach gave Milo a present each wrapped by themselves. Milo was overwhelmed with joy! He thanked them and promised that he will open them up when Christmas comes up, which will be in two more days from now. They send the rest of the night watching a Christmas Carol.

Merry Murphy Week- Day 4: Christmas Carols 

Back to Milo’s house: After the blizzard completely cleared out, Milo and his two friends out on their #winter clothes and went out side. Zach and Melissa got a call from their parents saying they need to go home, but the car is stuck in a big pile of snow from the avalanche, so they decided to take the bus. They realized that the bus is delayed because of the winter snow,  and they have to wait a while. As they wait, they sing the famous Christmas song,“Santa Clause is coming to Town” and they attracted a large group of people who came to sing along. After 30 minutes, the bus finally came, and the three children hopped aboard the bus as they keep singing.

Merry Murphy Week- Day 3: Time Travel 

After the blizzard cleared out, Dakota and Cavendish thanked Milo and went in their time vehicle and drove off into the future. Cavendish was still shocked from the avalanche, so Dakota drove to a nice city and showed him the northern lights to make him feel better. Meanwhile, Mr. Block keeps trying to call them due to their absence yesterday, but they ignored the calls and enjoyed the northern lights.

Christmas Carolers

The members of Milo’s community usually avoided the Murphy household when they made their Christmas caroling rounds. The out-of-towners, however, were clueless to what could happen when approaching the Murphy home. Usually they stayed away after the first time, some were brave enough to give a second try, but all never came back for a third Christmas.

But there were plenty of families and groups that traveled to towns to give some Christmas cheer, and carolers usually always ended up on Milo’s doorstep. He loved Christmas carols and did what he could to soften the effects of Murphy’s Law.

“You doing some Caroler Preparation?” Sara asked when her brother passed through the living room, all bundled up for the wintry night.

“Yup! I’ve got the salt, bungee cords and a tarp. I think that should do it. Record Dr. Zone’s Christmas special for me.”

“Already on it.”

Milo stepped outside and grabbed the bag of salt resting near the front door. He tried lifting it up but a seam in the bottom split open, spilling the contents. Milo grabbed a shovel and started to scoop up the salt, depositing it along the porch, the walkway leading to his house and their portion of the sidewalk. When there was a thick layer covering any potential ice hazards, he moved on to the Christmas decorations.

Their Christmas lights and lawn decorations tended to get blown away, so they always reinforced them. Milo liked to use bungee cords to ensure everything was secure. Snow also had a tendency to fall from their roof at random times, so Milo strapped a tarp over their porch so no carolers would get hit with a surprise avalanche.

When his preparations were done, he went inside to watch the remainder of Dr. Zone with Sara.

“We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas–”

“Oh boy, carolers!” exclaimed Milo.

The Murphy family gathered at the front door, where they sang along with the carolers. Milo’s little tricks worked–the tarp caught the snow, the light-up snowman in their yard was currently whipping back and forth in the air, held in place by several bungee cords.

But as hard as Milo tries, he can’t account for everything Murphy’s Law is capable of–not that he always expects to.

The tree across the street snapped at the trunk, the massive oak tumbling right towards the Murphy’s front lawn. The carolers paused in a rousing chorus of Silent Night and screamed. They scattered as the tree careened towards them, slamming into the lawn and the branches stretching inches from the doorway.

“They got through three songs this time,” said Milo, impressed. “That must be a record.”

After the events of the avalanche, Milo let’s his friends into his house for the night to get warmed up and to wait for the blizzard to stop.

Merry Murphy Week Day 3: Time Travel

“Come on, Dakota, that’s the 3rd time this week we’ve failed a mission, and I’m really getting tired of the same routine. We report to Block, we get reprimanded, then sent back to the apartment only to receive a more degrading mission, and proceed to fail that one too. Why must it be like this?” he sighed as he buckled his seatbelt. ‘safety first’.

Vinnie looked over at his partner from the driver’s seat, “Hang on, I got an idea, it might cheer you up.”

“If you wouldn’t mind, I’d rather not visit young Murphy again, despite how much I enjoy his spirit and enthusiasm for life in general.”

“Oh we’re not visiting Milo, just you wait.” He punched in some coordinates and started up the car, moving the gear shift into 1st gear. The time portal opened and they zipped into the time stream.

Not too much later they had arrived at their destination, wherever it was.. It seemed to resemble the early 21st century, and it appeared to be close to the winter months, although the ground was clear of any precipitation; they must have been farther south. “Come on, Cavendish.”

He had parked the car next to a sandwich shop and walked to the front of the car, waving for his partner. Cavendish got out of his seat, opened the door and proceeded to sit on the hood of the car. “I’m not hungry, Dakota. I don’t know how you always find it an appropriate time to eat.”

“That’s not why we’re here, look.” He pointed up to the sky, bringing attention to the seemingly cloudless day, “Watch.”

All of a sudden, it began to snow! Just like that! Cavendish wasn’t impressed, but rather occupied with placing his hat on the hood of the car and staring solemnly at the ground.

“Come on, aren’t you even wondering how I knew this was gonna happen? Or why this is happening?”

“No.” 

“Do you just wanna sit here for a while until you cool off?” He asked; he knew this was the perfect spot for it since the snow had contained itself to the small perimeter that they were positioned. 

“Yes.” He opened his mouth to say more, but decided to remain silent because people tended to say things they didn’t mean when they were angry, and he didn’t want to risk his friendship with his colleague.

So the two oddly dressed men sat on the hood of their old car while the snow cone machine on the roof of the building continued to expel the remains of its contents.

(and yet again, drawing hands prove to be one of the more difficult things, especially holding hands)

MerryMurphyWeek! Day 2: Winter Night

Worked on it during the stream yesterday. Man, I remember playing outside in the snow (after the sun went down, because it goes down at ,like, 5:30) but we would play by the big garage light and make snowmen and stuff. Ahhh, memories..!
