Sorry for the inactivity!! I’ve been having a lot of fun at my internship,, seeing more electrical grids and construction sites than my crochet hook lately. To think I thought I’d be bored this summer… I preemptively signed up for an extra chem class to keep myself occupied… I’ve been occupied alright… anyway I’m finally hanging up some of the projects I’ve made. I decided I don’t really care that my housing doesn’t allow push pins. Landlord can suck it

Jellyfish in my new apartment!

Jellyfish are some of the most fascinating Cnidaria! My favorite thing to talk about is their locomotion: Like Lampreys (horrifying creatures but definitely cool), jellyfish actually pull themselves through the water. The undulations of the leading ‘bell’ half of their structure create low pressure vortices in the water, resulting in an extremely powerful suction of water that propels them forward. Engineers are currently studying jellyfish locomotion to potentially save fuel in ships by manipulating similar low pressure pockets to surround boats, which would give them a little kick through the power of physics rather than fossil fuels!

Now consider: a man in a dress. Not in drag or all dressed up or anything. No accessories, no makeup or styling, just wearing the dress, some ratty boxers and muddy sneakers. No socks or stockings, hairy legs in the open air, just raw dogging those nasty shoes. Hair mildly damp. Visibly sleep-deprived. Bruises on shoulders, elbows and knees, left palm bleeding. Sitting on a curb on the street, shivering, looking wretched, and absolutely miserable.

Whale shark I made for one of my close friends. He loves fish so I made him the biggest fish there is!!!

Nat geo fun facts: they have tiny teeth that cover their eyeballs to protect them from the harsh ocean habitat, can live up to 100 years, and have more than 300 rows of over 3,000 teeny tiny teef (inserting my own fun fact: sharks have the unique ability to regrow teeth so they just shed them around like no big deal. They regenerate from the back, so all the teeth shift forward in a crazy feat of biology)

These guys are threatened by illegal hunting, boating incidents, and ocean pollution.

i think you shouldn’t be allowed to relate to certain characters if you don’t meet the right requirements. like you can’t be sirius black if you get along with both of your parents. you can’t be lily evans if you didn’t get a perfect grade in chemistry. you can’t be james potter if you keep getting kicked from friend groups. you can’t be barty crouch jr if you haven’t done hard drugs.

like there are rules people…. come on!

group living is beautiful and it’s about having a compost named marty and making dinner together and late night cups of tea on the couch with good books and sharing thrifted CDs or ones from the library and going to the park together in the morning before work and hugs when you get home and a household zine collection/obsession and sharing soaps and journals and making brownies together and dancing in the kitchen and planning a network of gardens between other people we know in the city and scrabble nights and teaching each other how to mend and cook and building each other nightstands and helping sew quilts and sliding books under bedroom doors and sticky notes with jokes and laughing in the sunshine outside of the laundry mat

I’m back!! Trying to convince myself I don’t hate how I pinned this lol… it’s massive though so I’m giving myself grace. The pinning process was a NIGHTMARE contorting my body wobbling around on an anti suicide chair holding a bag of pins and a hammer trying to stretch this thing 😭 but this pattern is beautiful!!!

Introducing: The grossest thing I have ever made!

This was for a 3D digestive system project in my anatomy class. Every part that was required on the rubric is represented by a different color. I swear I'm not doing a 'parts of the body' series; I just happen to get assignments where I go "Yeah, I can crochet this. Easy grade."
