and its sooo important that caitlyn and vi get back together. not even for shipping purposes but because it’s a fulfilling way for caitlyn to reckon with her own actions and biases… she thought people in the undercity were violent and simple minded (as was taught to her as a rich councillor’s daughter in piltover) and over the course of s1 changes her perspective- now she sees them as poor, helpless victims. she reexamined her biases and readjusted, but she just switched from one caricature to another. she still doesnt see the people of the undercity as individual people outside of the generalizations she grew up with.

so her ideas are already flawed, but there’s another factor: battling your prejudices is a constant and intentional action you have to commit. caitlyn’s prejudices were constantly being challenged the minute she went into the undercity and became so involved with the people within, but after her mother’s death she stops trying. it’s so much easier to fall back to the beliefs that come naturally to her, that aren’t a constant uphill battle to uphold, when she's already so weighed down by her mother's death and the responsibility that came with her absence.

reconciling with vi is more than just sweet for the romance, it’s important for caitlyn to not only return to her development from s1 but to completely do without generalizations and finish her character journey. WHICHH seems really far away considering where she is right now but arcane hasn’t failed me yet. you could make the argument that caitlyn can do all that without getting back together with vi but i think there’s a lot more hope in an ending where they do reconcile, especially and SPECIFICALLY if cait does not get let off easy and actually has to put the work in to win our hearts again
