For sale: Original Sealshipt Oysters sign from the early 1900s. Initially used as a shipping label on wooden boxes and barrels.
-
Founded in the late 1800s, Sealshipt Oysters became one of the largest oyster companies in New England by 1910 when it acquired ownership of the Great South Bay's bottom between Blue Point and Nicolls Point, NY. Eventually the company consolidated with local Long Island oyster companies to form The Bluepoints Clam & Oyster Company in West Sayville in 1912.
