Darksiders: Soul Eater Vulgrim

A friendly and humble demon merchant, despite consuming the souls of the dead, which you collect from your slain enemies to use as currency to buy special items from him. Seems reasonable.

I love this character, and it always gives me warm fuzzy feelings when I see his charms dangling in the distance marking his Serpent Hole locations. A port in the storm between adventuring and always a friendly face to greet you.

Anyway I had a lot of fun with this. It was a complete spur of the moment thing I started a couple months ago to take a break from my other projects, and kept it in limbo until October since if felt like a good Halloween themed piece, being a demon and all.

As mentioned in my Sketch and WIP posts, the Darksiders series of video games is a real gem and deserves so much more love. Y’all sleeping on this franchise.

I’ll share some close up shots since sizing it down lost a ton of the little details, plus maybe some progress shots since they look pretty neat with just the shadow and lighting effects turned on.

SWORDTEMBER DAY 18: GLASS

"'Okay, this one if you're hurting,' The alchemist pointed to a thin vial where a swirling velvet red liquid whirled, 'This one for if the shadows start murmuring' It pointed to a champagne glass of brilliant white, small specks of glass twinkling in the dim light. "and this one-" The little figure shuffled across the floor of the wine cellar. It was not much more than a jangle of limbs under an intricate tapestry of a cloak. "I wont say this again. This one-" Three bony arms emerged from the silk, pointing to a more modest bottle. Purple shimmering liquid bubbled up against the cloudy glass. "Dont drink this one."

Glass sword! At least glass bottle? This definitely wasnt me getting jealous of the"potion" prompt on the other swordtember list

Vulgrim snorted to himself. Did he have no idea how this world worked? Mankind was of the same mind as this purple being, that technology was superior to magic, that the latter was false and best relegated to fairytales. And yet they were the ones who didn't survive Armageddon.

"Should I mention that angels and demons have their own guns and technology? And I would love to see such an apparently superior gun of yours allow the user to teleport across a room at will."

"Then I'd do the Well of Souls thing. At least it's something productive."

PSA: Be Patient

If someone doesn’t respond to your IM, ask, thread, etc. immediately, do not snap at them, spam them, send anonymous hate, or make passive aggressive remarks or vague posts about it.

They could be busy, or maybe they don’t feel like answering you right away.

This is a hobby, not a paid job. No one owes you anything.

There is never any excuse for being rude.

Throwing a tantrum because someone didn’t respond fast enough for your liking is a great way to get yourself rightfully blocked.
