I’ve always got time for bugs. This is a grapevine beetle, Pelidnota punctata!
HAPPY LATE 4TH OF JULY!!!! HERE'S A LATE 4TH OF JULY PRESENT!!!!

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL MYSTERY BEETLE THAT VISITED ME ON THE 4TH OF JULY!!!! PLEASE IDENTIFY IT IF YOU CAN!!!! AND ENJOY YOUR LATE 4TH OF JULY PRESENT!!!!
*** Omg I totally missed this in my submission box. Thank you for sharing, I love them so much!
I'm still kind of a newbie at bug IDs, so if you're asking for one, a location is super helpful to me! As it stands, I'm reaching out to my boi (gender neutral) @onenicebugperday for help, if they've got time!

Also may I add the caterpillars are called convict caterpillars because they have black and white stripes like prison uniforms :)

Here from Florida with a cool moth

Moth ID - FL, USA:
WHAT A GLORIOUS FIND!!!
This is the Spanish Moth (Xanthopastis regnatrix), family Noctuidae.
https://bugguide.net/node/view/26706
This moth is not from Spain, but is named for its pattern and coloration which reminded naturalists of Spanish fabrics.

@depraced submitted: Thee is no way to state how beautiful this georgian (usa) moth was in person. It practically glowed in the light. Please let me know if I need to be more specific than within an hour of atlanta to get the name of this beauty.
Nope no need to be more specific! This is a rustic sphinx moth and they are found pretty much across the whole southern US and down into Mexico, Central America, and South America.

@badlyconstructedfromclouds submitted: hello! any idea what this critter is? located in Eastern Ontario
also, I used to be very freaked out by earwigs, but engaging with bug content from this blog and other places I've developed a much deeper appreciation for all bugs. the other day I saw a small earwig in my house and instead of trying to squish it, I looked closely and saw she was cleaning one of her antennae. It was very cute. I let her crawl onto my hand, brought her outside, and blew her off my hand onto the grass. Thanks for running this blog :)
Hi! This is a beetle larva, and I think most likely one of the carrion beetles in the family Silphidae.
Also that is THE BEST news, I'm so glad you've overcome your fear and didn't squish her. I'm sure she'll be very happy to live out her earwig life outside)

Firefly lady from a couple weeks ago in southern maine! She was sitting on the frame of the bus stop so I scooped her up and brought her to a bush nearby where she was left likely to get squished. Been seeing a lot of what appears to be macdermotti this year based on flash patterns, but I didn't stick around long enough to see hers :p
Whatever she is, she's beautiful and I love her :)

Hello, I found this little guy on my way home from the gym. I'm in Geneva Switzerland, and I have no idea what they are?????

Oooo Swiss bug!! I get them submitted so rarely. This lil angel is a stink bug nymph. Looks like a southern green stink bug, which is non-native but still cute :)

@sosadraws sbumitted: Hello! Can I get an ID of this little guy please? I see them a lot around here (Venezuela), but I don’t know what they’re called 😅
Some extra details because the photo isn’t of very good quality (my bad, they’re TINY) is that they can jump far away (or fly away very quickly? I can’t tell), they also come in green, and their underside is yellow.
SMALL. I love them. It’s a type of leafhopper in the genus Erythrogonia.

@pixiefaerymagic submitted: My grandma loved these kind of dung beetles (Geotrupidae) especially the ones with a green sheen. These are most likely Geotrupes stercorarius. Dont know if that many Scarabaeidae has been submitted yet, but heres some representation. Found in sweden
I get scarabs quite often, but geotrupids less often! Lovely lil fellas.

Lorge. And not even an adult yet! Eastern lubber grasshopper nymphs are black until they reach adulthood.
