I just don’t understand where this concept of ‘fake geek girls’ came from. Like, AT ALL.
Cus when I look for fandom related stuff like 90% of the fan art and the fanfiction and the meta, zines, comics, etc. Like 90% of the shit that I’ve seen is created by women & girls.
And all that stuff take’s a lot of work and research and critical analysis and staring at reference photos for hours.
We are literally the most well versed and invested group in the fandom. So, like, What the fuck boys? You mad you can’t keep up?

sometimes I worry that my writing is OOC but then I remember that someone at DC decided that Bruce Wayne should hit his fucking kids, and then I feel slightly better

I tap the mic. “Most people don’t want to crawl down your chimney and steal your dog.”
the crowd murmurs uncertainly.
“If someone wants to steal your dog,” I continue, “there are easier ways to do that. They don’t have to crawl into a chimney.”
Murmuring intensifies. People stand in their seats and begin to boo.
“People disguising themselves as chimney sweepers and stealing dogs is not a rational fear,” I shout. “Literally anyone could steal your dog. Why make sweeping chimneys illegal?”
“I have a list of chimney sweeps who stole dogs from parks!” Someone yells, throwing a shoe.
“You seriously think no chimney sweepers could possibly ever steal from a home?” Another cries.
“Only a dog thief would even want to crawl into a chimney to begin with!” Says a third.
A single tear rolls down my cheek. They are all so fucking stupid
This is a metaphor

Potentially hot take but one of the reasons we need art and music in schools is that, taught correctly, they are ideal avenues for teaching kids how to do something, kinda suck at it, keep going anyways and improve over time.
And THAT is one of the most valuable skill sets a human being can have. THAT is the skill set that unlocks soooooo many others.
A LOT of people I see with anxiety and depression do not have this skill set. To suck at something is a threat. Proof that they are doomed to suck at it forever. And then, often, that either THEY suck forever or the task must be stupid/useless/pointless (whence we get AI art fans who have decided actually making art is pointless and degrading the labor and skills of others is fine because these are useless skills).
Or you get the freeze- the inability to try things in case you fail. The sudden lancing shame and humiliation or hopelessness. The sense that anything you haven't learned by now you can't learn. Which is so heartbreaking and so untrue.
I just hate it.
"What if I write it and it's bad" "what if I draw it and it's bad" "what if I play it and it sounds bad" DOING IT BAD IS HOW YOU LEARN TO DO IT GOOD! You can't skip the process of leaning and the process is FUN if you let it be what it needs to be!

I think the important thing to remember about genuinely baby kid heroes (like 8-year-old Dick) is that most kids don’t really have, like, a conscience, an internal sense of morality, yet, at that age
They don’t fully understand on an emotional level that other people can feel pain, y’know? And their brains aren’t equipped to care about the intellectual awareness that other humans also have nerve endings. They’re not malicious, they’re just curious and self-focused and the needs or problems of others don’t really factor in
(This form of innocent amorality is distinct from tweens, who are malicious. Tweens have just learned that other people feel pain, and they are delighted by that fact. But that’s a separate matter.)
So, like, 8 year old Dick doesn’t kill people, because Bruce told him not to, and 8 year old Damian does kill people, because Ra’s and Talia told him yes to, and neither of those really reflects on who they are, as people, that’s just how their circumstances ended up.
ANYWAY. My point being
An 8 year old superhero would be shit in your pants terrifying, because the only thing stopping them from snapping all of your bones if they feel threatened is training, the only thing stopping them from killing you is a memorized list of Superhero Rules that they could at any moment decide to teehee-disregard like the rule against sneaking cookies, and the only thing stopping them from torturing you like you’re an ant and they just got a brand-new magnifying glass is the bigger hero standing behind them.

The funny thing about Batman is that despite his secrecy and isolation, he is always that dude with a place.
Need to discuss a mission? Batcave. Need to get your injuries treated? Batcave. Need a gadget or a plane? Batcave. Need a rare antidote to a poison created from a fish that only lives in Cambodian rivers? Batcave, somehow.
Bruce built the Waychtower because he was tired of the “so what’s the move?” question after every mission. The move is not the Batcave get out of my house—

🤗 i dont like this emoji. this is not a hug to me. this is someone doing condescending jazz hands in my general direction when i am in need of affection. not comforting.
