Thank you for sharing your recent watercolor progress posts! I’ve been wondering, how do you get your pencil art so clean? Maybe I’m just too imprecise with my sketchlines because they go all over and even when I erase them it looks a little messy lol
Good Evening, and thank you for your curiosity on my watercolor process!
The truth for why my pencil art looks so clean in some of my line art is due to a property of some of my art materials that I discovered by mistake.
As you probably know, watercolor paper is often hard to erase on due to the rough texture and usually leaves a grey area wherever an erase of sketch lines is attempted. To overcome this, I had started using mechanical-pencil, colored lead from the first sketch, while the graphite pencil is used for the more defined line art.
The mechanical pencil lead i use is Uni 0.5 Nano Dia Color. I used to just use it for sketching, but eventually discovered that water lifts it from paper.
I have it in a few shades. You can see it inf the green tone in the first Crius/Krios picture.
After the first layer of paint, which I use to establish the undertones for the majority of the piece, you can see that the colored mechanical has started to lift from the page and mix with the paint, leaving just the graphite pencil marks.
Some of the original pencil sketch remains in the final composition, but I consider it subtle enough to be tolerable in the piece.
You can still see a bit of a pink tone on Cronus/Kronos's white hair in the final piece from when I used the pink lead. The pencil color is lifted, but does not disappear from the piece. Therefore, when picking a lead, its best to select a color that you imagine will complement the final piece.
Thank you again! Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions.

Next in my Maite project: Kronos or Chronos, the king of the Greek Pantheon (for now). I wanted his design to be a bit of a nod to Class of the Titans while also fitting into the world-building and research I've done for the Maite Story.

I’d like to imagine that Maite sometimes accidentally breaks the leather straps that hold her prosthetic in place by kicking with her titan strength, and a search needs to start for where ever the hell it landed.
It’s not a group project, but she likes to be included.

The first of the Titan siblings in my Maite Story world based on Greek Mythology and the late-bronze-age collapse: Crius or Krios. (I am currently a bit indecisive concerning the spelling of some names.)

Style test with Maite. She wouldn't typically wear a tunic this light, but I wanted to draw something where most of her scars were visible.

It's not the Scarlet Rot water, I just wanted to make water reflecting red/pink. I've yet to play Elden Ring.

Artfight attack for THEJDIKNIGHT featuring her character Avrea Kressh on the left and my character, Crestine Lokka on the right.
As I had made my character Crestine to be an ancestor to the Kressh family, I thought of a composition of the two family members, with centuries between them, speaking together.
