thinking of vampire akechi

half(?) vampire akechi whose mom is a human, lets goro feed from her. goro knows that feeding from his mom leaves her feeling tired, but hes just so hungry sometimes that he cant help himself.

akechi who finds his mother in a pool of blood, doesn't quite understand that which is happening but he'd never felt such a ravenous hunger. the grief of his mother's death is overwritten by regret and disgust of his own nature.

when he shoots akira, a bullet in his brain and a waterfall of blood gushing from his head, goro expects the old monster to sing once again in his veins, but he feels...nothing.

disclaimer: i prefer shuake over akeshu. everything that i post here is sfw, but theres a difference in the dynamic itself so i like shuake more. i feel like the characterizations of both characters individually fit shuake more. i'd like to get more into this lol, but thats another topic.

anyway coming to headcanons on how they'd end up after p5r

post-canon situation:

obv akechi survives i think its canon in the true ending. i think he would've sustained some injuries and needed both physical and mental rehab, based on that scene that was cut out of the game.

i do think maybe he would never want to see akira again cuz man thats hella embarrassing, but no matter how he tries to rationalize that it would be a Bad Idea, he still reaches out. maybe just for one last time. not sure if its over text or in person.

now, i think akechi would be v aware that he's painfully in love with the guy but akira genuinely isnt aware of his own feelings. i think he gets confused between platonic and romantic feelings bec he just cares that much about his friends even though he gets attached slowly.

but the moment he realizes that akechi is alive, freed from puppet strings, he knows what he feels for him and the realization hits him full force.

getting together:

i think they'd take a while to actually get together. i think akechi would hate that he's not on equal standing with akira, and wait till he finally feels his life is somewhat under control.

akira is terrified for a while that akechi can leave again and doesnt wanna do anything to cause a divide. theres also the whole issue of his friends, but i dont think he'd let them have that much sway over this decision. he already regrets that he let go of akechi twice, hes not gonna let there be a third time.

i think theyd be roommates eventually and it would be a completely normal everyday habit/routine that makes akechi blurt it out that he just loves him. maybe smth like akira passing him his cup of coffee, or akechi drying akira's stupid untameable hair bec he never dries it off on his own.

he immediately freezes and considers doubling back but he's no coward, nor does he ever run away. so he just rambles and spills everything, and akira's eyes are just flooded by tears which really makes akechi regret everything and he awkwardly tries to offer comfort

but yeah akira tells that he loves him back and now akechi starts to cry. i think theyre both due a cry honestly. akechi is dramatic in his emotions, and the p5 anime taught me that akira cries when its is related to akechi. so.

i think they wouldnt announce their relationship but they dont try to hide it either? theyd probly take things slow cuz both of em dont wanna fuck it up, and akechi even moreso bec although he's formed a proper friendship with akira, his emotions still become too overwhelming at times

sidenote but i do think akechi is capable of making friends but its probly with his co-workers or smth like that. a relationship that starts off as mutual respect and companionship, basically smth that he and sae couldve had.

relationship issues:

they both have their own issues, i think both have a habit of antagonizing each other when they're pissed, and prefer to not hold back with each other. but i think they'd still take care of each other. they agree on most things, but when they disagree it becomes worse.

i think akechi would have a tendency to hide and withdraw if he feels insecure about anything. basically, if a conversation would require him to be vulnerable he'd bottle it up till he explodes.

probly made worse by akira who's passive in such situations even if he notices smth is wrong. he thinks its better to let akechi approach him on his own terms, which is normally a good decision but it doesnt work with akechi, who has it ingrained in his mind to hide his dissatisfaction so he's not abandoned

akira would also have the problem of not being vulnerable i think? except he's even better at repressing things, which pisses off akechi to no end, albeit feeling hypocritical.

akechi would try to drag it out tooth and nail, unlike akira though. he isnt able to ignore issues and cant tolerate such a glaring imperfection in their relationship. except this makes the Don't Tell Me What To Do rebel in akira to act like nothings wrong cuz its also kinda fun when akechi is pissed

ig the difference between them would be that akechi still has the urge to spill his true thoughts, but for akira, once he resolves to repress smth he doesnt really go back on it.

i think once they realize both of em aint going anywhere else, they get better at dealing with this kinda stuff. akira's issues would get better after he finally wholly understands that akechi prefers confrontation and to be pushed to do better, and the ugly truth

akechi would realize that he should stop catastrophizing and be more gentle with his approach? but i think in his case gentle wouldnt mean kind, just less accusatory and antagonistic, just more patient and pure facts that akira cant avoid

this is what i can think of for now lol. more about their behaviour and not about specfic things that they'd fight about

how they'd show/express affection:

ok i think akira would be more likely to be jokey and ironically cheesey just to make akechi irritated and not actually express love through words that often

i think it would be akechi to express love through words unironically, hes more articulate and unconsciously just rambles or blurts stuff about how he thinks of/feels about akira

akira would be more big on physical touch i think? unconsciously just become more touchy and act on the impulse to have some kind of physical contact with akechi. akechi would be more purposeful and internally debate on the matter a lot, and therefore more hesitant lol

akira would love getting him trinkets that he knows akechi will call stupid to his face but panic if any of them goes missing. akechi thinks gifts are more of a event exclusive thing, but akira just gets gifts if he thinks they suit someone

akechi likes travelling n stuff, so i think he'd invite akira to explore and try new places a lot. he's also a perfectionist so hed be good at planning things and making sure that its a place they both like.

this part legit makes me hurl i didnt know it was so painful to write fluffy things why is it so harddd ahhh oh well

misc stuff:

i think akechi would be perfectly aware that he's attractive, but akira genuinely thinks himself to be average in looks. smth that akechi is absolutely shocked at and resolves to change that perception

akechi stops apologizing for talking a lot and being verbose after it finally gets through to him that akira likes listening especially to him

i like to imagine this manifesting as akechi just walking into a room and immediately yapping without a greeting and akira gives him attention

akira is probly a furnace if he was able to survive that fucking attic. akechi also wears gloves and the stupid sweater vest in a heat wave so he stays cool mostly. ik the sweater vest is an image thing but he mustve been able to wear it.

therefore he'd let akira to stick to him in the winter without complaint, and akira would cling during the summer bec he feels cool somehow, smth that akechi would grumble about

akechi is a shameless biter. just sinks in teeth randomly. it confuses the fuck out of akira the first couple of times but then he gets used to it. even gets back at him sometimes but with kisses, smth that akechi gets embarrassed by

akechi is insanely confused when he sees his lover crossdress for the first time. hes gay but hes attracted to akira, and akira pulls off the look really well but looks convincingly female with the right clothes, but he thought he liked guys ????

i dont think akechi would fully crossdress, i do hc that he wears a little bit of makeup, puts in more effort to his appearance and normally looks more feminine compared to akira, but i think he'd dislike fully presenting as female. i do NOT think he's misogynistic or anything, just a matter of preference

i do not hc their genders to be trans. i dont hate or dislike the notion, i just dont agree with it personally. i think they're both cis, and akira just likes wearing feminine clothing and kinda considers it to be a hobby to indulge in occasionally. cuz he feels hot in it, AS HE SHOULD.

idk if anyone's said it yet but i just came across the trope character raised to be a shield and ?????

alr we dont really know what joker was raised to be but throughout the game, hes the guy that takes on most of the sacrificial roles.

like he's the leader, he's the one who has to keep fighting and cant swap out with anyone in the team, during the arena thing in sae palace he's the lone challenger, hes the one to be a scapegoat in the interrogation room.

the difficulty of taking the hardest decisions is on him, he has to support the trust of his teammates. the fate of the world rested on him not once but twice.

he has to be strong, and he cannot break.

and akechi, who has never been given hope that he could be anything better, anything good. he's expected to be a cold puppet that doesnt care for the lives he reaps, both by shido and the PT initially.

his agency is taken away repeatedly, and the only time when he feels like he receives love and attention is when he's used. he has reforged himself to never be hurt again and only hurt others. he dehumanizes himself to become a tool for revenge.

so yeah, joker 'character raised to be a shield' x black mask 'character raised to be a sword'.

HITMAN AKECHI X BODYGUARD AKIRA AU

akira's only ever employed to protect corrupt old fucks and he doesnt really care whether they die or not, so he gets a bit playful when the guy he's protecting is akechi's target. akechi ends up abandoning his actual mark and tries to kill akira instead after the first few times this happens.

i thought about whether its good as a mr & mrs smith kinda thing where they're married out of convenience and dont know the nature of others work. like akechi marries this wimp because he's pretty much a live in househusband who minds his own business and akira marries this preppy nerd sitting on his high horse who ofc would want a 'perfect' relationship, fake as his own pretty face.

maybe akechi's employer hires akira for protection and thats the exact time akechi decides to go rogue and kill his employer. and they find out who the other is. would be kinda funny.

this works obv when they have masked appearences on the job. maybe akechi's face is always fully covered, and akira wears those masks that look like entirely different faces. idk man ive seen those in mission impossible four. like the ones that loid from spy x family uses lmao.

CONSIDER akira crossdressing and kicking ass. i dont headcanon him to be feminine in appearance but he can definitely pull off some looks that hide the body, and i bet he's got the mannerisms down.

also also theres that voiceline about akechi recognizing akira through that fucking ugly lumpy green diving suit thingy, so yeah sure it takes akechi a hot second to recognize that its akira, but once he does he gets fucking tunnel vision.

oouuuuugh them keeping score of the people akira has saved vs akechi has killed. and after everything is out, akira is more surprised by the fact that akechi can swear rather than the fact that he's killed people. akechi cant believe that his charming rival gets bullied by his own cat.

goro's gloves. my brain saw the gloves and connected the dots. just general 'none of these people knew i was an undesirable child' trauma manifests into insane mysophobia. im obv not a person with much psychological knowledge but HEAR ME OUT

therapist/counselor akira who wants to cure him but also amused by goro who keeps insisting that hes not dysfunctional and can in fact do Normal Human ThingsTM and pushes him to his limits because he likes it when goro becomes vulnerable in front of him, and he genuinely wants to help the guy ofc

anyway i think goro writing up a list of what he would be uncomfortable with and akira making him go through with those acts would be hot. emotional and physical vulnerability fuck yeahhh

im not sure what the thing on the tenth of his list would be, hmm (the hardest act for goro to do). in general, the items in the list would just be him interacting with someone that require casual physical contant ig.

and akira with his general therapist friend tendencies, forced to admit by goro that his intentions are not entirely altruistic. goro would actually prefer it that way, anyway. goro can see how pleased akira is when he makes him do something goro obv does not want to do but ultimately he is unable to refuse akira. he can tell he's being played dammit but he cant back out now.

goro lifting akira's glasses of his face with his bare hands, guess who has to face the mortifying ordeal of being known now!!!

honestly this could even be a post canon thing fuck it. a kind of warming up to becoming roommates perhaps. cuz goro has become obsessed with having his own space, avoided all possible human contact post canon, but its easier monetarily to live with a roommate, and akira really wants to move out of leblanc.

goro was masking his discomfort well for so long, but post-canon after he lets himself feel his crushing guilt, his avoidance tendencies becomes worse and develops into mysophobia. he becomes obsessed with making sure he's clean, and that he doesnt dirty his surroundings. akira wants to help him get used to the idea of physical contact so he brings up the idea of exposure therapy.

kinda a different spin to being touch-starved? theres a particular post that said smth like, when ur starved and u first eat, ur instinct is to throw up even though the food is what you wanted. i think thats very akechi goro. and ig if we were using the food anology, akira likes either reaction as long as he's the one feeding him...

also its really funny to consider that goro finds the idea of holding hands with akira to be more of a daunting task than shooting him in the head. and kinda sad. still funny tho.

like protag's normal voice bein soft but in the metaverse??? like the way it changes according the different personas he uses. ive noticed the change in tone the most in raoul and asterius, sounds more manic kinda. i really like the contrast between his soft tone and the 'joker' voice.

YUSUKE. i love his voice omg it suits the seriously stupid thing he's got goin on. ALSO THE UNINTENTIONALLY CREEPY QUIET LAUGH??? ITS PERFECT. when he says the line that roughly translates to 'how could this be', its so funny.

futaba is just perfect like the chaotic gremlin energy fits her so well. and during the emotional scenes, for e.g. when sojiro confronts her about the calling card, her voice kinda wobbles from trying not to cry, its such good details.

akechi, i really do like his eng va's performance, but the jp one is just differently flavored man. third sem akechi sounds more resigned, and tired, but still defiant. his detective prince voice has this sugary quality and lightness, and third sem akechi sounds detached and intense at the same time.

ive heard that there are some differences in meaning from the original voiceline to the english translation, and while i like the original meaning of all his jp lines, i do wish they used the english localization of his navi lines.

i really like the rest of the vas as well, it suits their personalities perfectly. another strange addition is iwai lmao. i love his voicelines when u shop haha.

i think akechi goro being both a sophisticated bitch and a feral bastard is beautiful, honestly. smth so cathartic about seeing him scream bloody murder.

[might be a tad insensitive to use bastard but i cant find another word to embody that energy. oh well.]

also, i love that in both masks he still has that flair for theatrics. one is cringe and the other is edgy. i love them both. i do like the loki suit more than the prince suit, but i like that robin hood has both curse and bless. was forever disappointed that hereward didnt have bless skills. kinda took some of his specialness away, man.

thinking of akechi having to survive without any healing spells. i dont really know when robin hood appeared, but im imagining him exhausting every last bit of his hp and using samarecarm to get back up in a relentless loop.

also, the fact that he doesnt have a magical transport for mementos? like what, did he just run everywhere or did he bike?? no wonder he hated the PT man. and im imagining jose stepping on the gas in reverse after seeing a half dead edgelord running/pedaling around and chasing shadows.

man the engine room scene was such a roller coaster to me cuz i was laughing at akechi's whole 'criminal trash living in an attic' and then the puppet appeared and said smth like 'you'd do anything to be praised'. literally can't predict what he's gonna fucking do next. because i definitely did not predict he was gonna close that door and die, wtf akechi.

akechi's true redemption wasn't really giving up his life. he didn't value his own life, that's the reason he ended up becoming a supernatural hitman for the man he despised the most. but he did value his revenge, more than anything. and him letting go of that that consciously is what makes it his redemption moment.

and about his last words, akechi doesnt have a logical reason to ask PT to change Shido's heart; that's why theyre in the palace in the first place. but he wanted them to do it for him as well; theres something v vulnerable about him asking them to do it 'in his stead'.

SIMILARLY, third semester was such a rollercoaster for me cuz holy shit i loved everyday akechi like bro is the embodiment of 'dont you just wanna go apeshit' and his unfiltered comments were soo perfect.

like dont get me wrong i do like detective prince who wraps up his insults in a glittery box topped with a bow, but theres smth so refreshing about everyday akechi. dont even get me started on his navi lines man, i cant. the mementos lines too aaaaghh.

and then 2/2 rolls around and im legit like fuck this game. him calling his own life trivial, being steadfast on no longer being a puppet, trusting akira this time with his autonomy, even though they both know it goes against akira's wish, for him to live.

thats why the cut out rehab scene is so hopeful. rehab isnt gonna fix him, but it would hopefully make him want to live, even just a little bit.

all this might be redundant and been said many times before but man. im always gonna choose to believe in that rehab scene as canon, otherwise akechi is just too tragic of a character.

i think akechi wanted to kill akira but he didnt want akira to die ykwim

like yes he probably only went with the whole 'joker, leader of the phantom thieves should die' thing cuz it was intrumental in his plan to be trusted by shido etc etc but

akechi killing akira is him winning, going all out, without holding back. the planning and conniving, like blackmailing his way into the PT, setting up the police ambush and staging the hit as a suicide, im pretty sure he was cackling like a villain thinking of all that but

after the hit theres nothing.

theres no one to accompany him to jazz jin, theres no one to make a perfect cup of coffee, theres no one to compete against in games, theres no one to have esoteric debates with, theres no one.

i wonder if he felt like his mother, who chose shido's and society's abandonment over goro's love, much like how he chose his hate for shido and society over his love for akira.

because till then it was simple; he had lost the one good thing the world had to offer him; his mother. after that, it seemed like the world was cruel and only had pity to offer on a good day, and hate to offer on others.

this mindset is further reinforced by witnessing the public's palace: mementos. now he had real, tangible proof for the mind of how ugly people's hearts can be. he must've truly lost hope in the good people can offer.

and suddenly joker and the phantom thieves come along and strike back at society not only for vengeance but also for protecting victims such as themselves? thats where i think he and the PT truly differ. not in their methods, but in their goals. killing the body and the self are both equal according to akechi's morals. he likely views murder and a change of heart to be equal punishments. both black mask and the PT are selfish in terms of methodology.

but the PT would never change a person's heart if they weren't a criminal by their standards. that's part of the reason they decided not to change sae's heart, and believed she could change on her own.

on the other hand, akechi had let 'innocents' get harmed for his own goals (e.g.: wakaba isshiki, the train derailment). he had caused mental shutdowns and psychotic breaks on people he had nothing against. he had compromised his morals for the sake of his goals, something the PT would never do. of course, this is within reason cuz towards the end of shido's palace we see him trying to refuse shido's requests of assassinations.

this is kinda what i think he meant by wishing he met them sooner. cuz when i think about it, he was trying to emulate the crushing guilt and pain that a change of heart would trigger on shido. the bigger they are the harder they fall- when shido finally had it all, he would lose everything because of his son who betrayed him, which would theoretically make him regret his actions of using his mother and throwing them away.

and i think meeting the actual people behind the masks of the phatom thieves back then, or anyone who genuinely wanted to look out for him would've given him back a semblance of something that the world had taken away; hope.

Yoshizawa And Akechi Parallels

!SPOILERS FOR SAE PALACE, SHIDO PALACE, THIRD SEMESTER!

in terms of their conflicting masks:

them trying to cast aside their masks of 'kasumi' and 'detective prince' post-canon

like for akechi i think it would be a knee jerk reaction to go into detective prince mode when he wants to feel control over a situation. did akechi ever wish he was either only the detective prince or only the black mask? because yes, robin hood is the mask that he wore to fool everyone, but wasnt robin hood the hero he wished he was when he still had something to protect?

was loki the mask he wore to fool himself into thinking he could be a single-minded agent of vengence, and to hide the boy who just wanted to belong? basically, i think loki and robin hood are both masks and his true personae.

as for sumire, i think she would second guess herself, wondering if the words, habits, and maybe even thoughts were truly hers or her sister's. in those months that she spent as kasumi, are they still the traces of a ghost, or can she call those actions her own? because the way i understand it, maruki literally overwrote her reality, its not a simple case of 'pretending to be another person'. sumire's persona does end up being kasumi's spirit, so theres a part of her that she always carries on inside her.

they're both sick of pretending to be someone else, but how do they deal with just being themselves?

in terms of their relationship with their 'rivals':

sumire and akechi wanted to be equal to kasumi and akira respectively, while the latter two already saw them as rivals. they felt inferior to them, and maybe even hated them at one point, but thats just worse isnt it? because kasumi and akira would never hate them.

they have to deal with the guilt of being envious and resentful of the people they love and admire the most. this is obv just one facet of the issues they had to deal with but damn no wonder their coping mechanisms are shit lmao

conversely, the contrast between akechi's steadfast determination to break the 'false' reality and sumire's turbulent acceptance of the 'true' reality is soooo good and both things mean so much and make perfect sense for their character arcs

i need content of them post-canon just being hanging out man. ik akechi was quite abrasive to sumire in maruki's palace, but theres no fucking way he doesnt have grudging respect for her, and i think while sumire would be like YOU TRIED TO SHOOT SENPAI??!! she's the most likely to kinda understand lol...atleast, understand the nature of conflicting feelings

oooh and is it any coincidence that they dont agree with the idealogy of the phantom thieves? i think not. they could have some similar patterns of thinking.

this is why i refuse to play strikers. give me post canon akechi and sumire content dammit.

ok its been like 6 years since i watched this show and i know neil and peter dont have the same vibe or dynamic butttttt Conman akira and Detective akechi duo T-T

i used to be hooked on those detective TV shows and now that i think about it, a lot of em have that Detective x Some Bizarre Dude duos like mentalist that had the psychic guy, castle where he was an author, numbers where the brother used to be really good at numbers? lol im not remembering the last one right but whatever

neil and peter's bickering is also pretty damn close to what i think shuake would have haha

alr so akechi is obv associated with crows and akira is pretty much associated with cats

akechi being intelligent, holding grudges is v crow coded and akira just being that typical derpy smug thief is black cat coded

but i feel like sometimes the opposite is also true?? akechi is kinda like a feral stray lmao, i can totally attribute the 'cats bringing its kills as a present' thing to akechi, and similarly akira bringing little trinkets and shiny gifts to people he likes is v crow behaviour.

lol the more i think about it, cats do kind of fit akechi. theyre both insanely conniving but stupid at the same time. crows can be playful, im pretty sure they exhibit surprising acts of playfulness in birds, smth that fits akira.

i love that both these animals were superstitiously bad omens. shuake witch au where they have a cat and crow familiar respectively. aaaaaaaa
