ᴛʜᴇ ᴇꜱᴄᴀᴘᴇ: part 2
The tires screamed against the asphalt, the wheel jerking violently beneath Lee Know’s grip. The police sirens still howled in the distance, but the flashing red and blue lights had started to fade. Trees blurred past on either side of the road as he pressed the gas pedal to the floor. “You drive like a fucking maniac!” you shouted over the roar of the engine, clutching the seatbelt across your chest. Lee Know scoffed, eyes darting between the rearview mirror and the endless stretch of road ahead. “Says the girl who tried to stab me.”
“You saw me dumping a body!”
“Yeah, and now I have to deal with you.”
You let out a shaky breath, fingers trembling as they gripped your knees. Adrenaline still pulsed through your veins, but the reality of what just happened was sinking in fast. The body in the trunk. The blood on your hands. The man beside you—someone just as guilty as you were. You had barely met him, and now you were running for your life together.
Behind you, the distant wail of sirens was growing quieter. The roads were dark and empty, the city shrinking in the distance. Lee Know exhaled sharply, his knuckles white against the steering wheel. “We lost them,” he muttered, letting out breath he had been holding the whole time. Neither of you spoke as he drove, one hand gripping the steering wheel, the other pressed tightly against his bleeding shoulder. The tires skidded slightly on the damp pavement, the tension in the car grew thick and suffocating.
You sat rigidly in the passenger seat, your fingers trembling against your lap. Dress still damp with blood, a stark contrast to your dull and bruised skin. The adrenaline that had fueled you during the chase was beginning to wear off, leaving only exhaustion and the horrifying realization of what you had done.
The man beside you-Lee Know, though you didn't even know his name yet-hadn't spoken since you both had fled the gasping blue and red lights. He was quiet, too quiet, his jaw clenched so tightly it looked painful. You stole a glance at him, finally taking in his face from the lights of the highway y’all drove on. Only now did you get a good look at him—short black hair messily falling over his forehead—disheveled, sharp features tense with exhaustion. His work attire, previously neat, was now a disheveled mess: tie undone, shirt partially unbuttoned, dirt and dried blood staining the fabric. He looked he could barely hold himself together, a ghost of whatever composed man he used to be before the night had ruined them both.
A criminal. Just like you.
Neither of you should have survived back there. The silence was heavy, save for the occasional ragged breath from Lee Know as pain shot through his arm. The car's gas meter was dipping lower, and they had no plan, no destination-just the shared knowledge that they needed to disappear. It was him who finally broke the silence.
"Get out." he muttered, starting to pull the car into the shadow of a dense woodland area. The tires crunched over gravel before coming to a stop. You blinked, glancing at him incredulously. His eyes were dark under the dim glow of the dashboard lights.
"What?"
"Out." he repeated, this time more insistent. His grip on the steering wheel tightened. "We have to get rid of it." He started to unbuckle his seatbelt. “The car.” His voice was sharp, unwavering. "No car, no evidence." You hesitated, stomach churning. "But—" "We don't have a choice," he cut you off, nodding toward the trunk-the one that held the lifeless body of your ex. Your breath hitched as you looked to the back of the vehicle, reality slamming into you like a freight train. You hesitate for only a second before nodding and pushing the door open, stepping onto the damp ground. Your legs were unsteady beneath you, the weight of everything catching up. Lee Know got out as well, glancing at you before looking at the car. Without another word, he climbed back in, shifted the car into neutral, and let it roll forward. The vehicle crept toward the water, dipping slightly as the front tires sank into the riverbed. Then, with a final shove, it slid forward and disappeared beneath the surface with a loud splash.
You both stood there, watching as the car and everything inside it sink into the murky depths. Your breath hitched as the trunk fully submerged. He’s gone. There would be no evidence, no remains. “That was the only car we had.” you murmured. “We’ll get another one,” he said easily, wiping his bloody hands on his pants. “Steal one if we have to.” For some reason, the way he said it made your stomach twist. This was normal to him. Like he had done things like this before. Though, he hadn’t.
Then you noticed the fresh wound on his arm, blood soaking through his torn sleeve. “You’re still bleeding.” you pointed out, voice quieter now. Lee Know barely reacted, glancing down at his shoulder as if just remembering the wound was there. "It's fine."
Yeah right.
"Bullshit." you countered. "You need to clean it."
He sighed as you glanced down the road and spotted something in the distance. A flickering neon sign, faint but visible—a gas station.
"We'll go there," You said, already making your way forward. Eventually, he follows too.
-
The gas station was almost empty when they arrived, aside from the tired-looking cashier leaning lazily against the counter. The fluorescent lights buzzed above as you walked into the tiny gas station, the scent of cheap coffee and motor oil thick in the air. The cashier, a scruffy man in his forties—focused on the static-filled radio playing behind the counter. You guys could feel the burning eyes on you as you walked in. You tried to ignore it.
Lee Know walked beside you, hands shoved into his pockets, body tense. He was getting odd looks from the other customers, his bloodied sleeve not exactly subtle. You nudged him forward.
“The bathroom,” you whispered. “Go. I’ll get supplies.” He hesitated before nodding, disappearing down the hall. You quickly browsed the aisles, grabbing bandages, alcohol wipes, and whatever else you could find. But you didn’t have money. Your fingers twitched as you glanced at the cashier—still not paying attention. Without a second thought, you slipped the supplies beneath your dress, tucking them against your body. You could feel your heart pounding as you walked toward the bathroom, avoiding any eye contact with anyone.
Inside, Lee Know was already leaning against the sink, inside the small, grimy bathroom. With a quiet hiss, peeling his shirt off, only left in a white tank to examine the wound. It was a deep graze, likely from the bullet that had nearly torn through him. Wincing as he tried to inspect his wound. His expression tried to be stoic, but you could tell he was in pain when you slid back inside. “Sit.” you instructed, locking the door behind you. He looked over and raised a brow at you.
"You stole that?" You rolled your eyes. "You expected me to buy it?" Lee Know let out a quiet scoff but said nothing. You set the supplies down and stepped closer, hesitant at first before reaching out. "Let me see." He didn't argue, watching as you wet the cloth from the sink and gently dab at the wound. He flinched slightly, though he remained silent. You pulled out the stolen medical supplies and started cleaning the wound, dabbing it with an alcohol wipe. He hissed, his jaw clenching. "Not used to this?” You observed. His lips quirked slightly, humorless. "And you are?” He countered. You shrugged, “Just guessing.” You hesitated, then shook your head. "But no—not like this."
His eyes flickered over your arms then, his gaze darkening at the bruises decorating your skin. "Who was in the trunk?" he asked finally. You froze for a fraction of a second. Then, carefully, you whispered, "My boyfriend—ex." A long silence stretched between you two.
You kept your hands busy, focusing on cleaning his wound, swallowing down the lump in your throat. "He would hit me.” You continued, voice soft but steady. "A lot." Lee Know didn't respond, only watching you, expression unreadable. He simply waited. You focused on the wound, not his piercing stare. "He was drunk. I knew he was going to kill me that night." You exhaled shakily. "So l killed him first."
Another pause.
Then, softly, he spoke. "I killed my boss."
You stilled.
You looked up at him, but his expression didn't waver. He wasn't crying, wasn't breaking down. Just... hollow. You didn't ask for details. He didn’t offer any.
Instead, you nodded.
You were both murderers.
And now, you were both running.
A quiet beat passed before you finally asked in a whisper, "What's your name?" For the first time that night, his lips quirked slightly, just the barest hint of something like amusement. "Lee Know," he said simply. "And you?"
You hesitated before answering.
"Y/N."
The moment lingered for a second too long.
Then, Lee Know exhaled, pushing himself off the sink.
"We need to leave."
-
Two hours passed before you finally found a rundown motel off the highway. The neon vacancy sign flickered as you walked into the lobby, the stale scent of cigarette smoke hitting you instantly. Lee Know handled the check-in, his usual stoic expression convincing the tired receptionist not to ask questions. You both got a room, one. The room was small—one bed, a single chair, and a bathroom. Upon arriving, Lee Know tossed the key onto the nearby table, them both taking in the new atmosphere. “You shower first,” Lee Know muttered, tossing you a stolen T-shirt from the lobby’s laundry cart near the door.
Too exhausted to argue, you obliged, locking yourself in the bathroom, scrubbing away the blood, dirt, and guilt clinging to your skin. When you emerged, hair damp and dressed in oversized clothes, he was already sitting on the floor, a blanket draped over his shoulders.
“You not gonna shower?” you asked, seeing as looked ready to sleep. “You took too long.” He replied, staring at the floor. You sighed, trying to break the ice between y’all wasn’t working. “Are you gonna sleep down there?” He leaned back against the mattress. “Unless you wanna share the bed.” You hesitated before shaking your head. “No, that’s fine.” The room fell into silence once he switched the lamp light off. The only sound was the occasional car passing by outside. You lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, while he lay on the floor, sheet halfway off his body, unmoving.
Minutes passed. Then—
"You regret it?" You whispered.
Lee Know didn't answer right away. Then, finally:
"No."
A beat.
"You?"
You thought for a long time before answering.
"No."
For the first time, you understood each other. Finally, exhaustion won over fear. Your eyes fluttered shut. You didn’t know what tomorrow would bring.
But for now, you weren’t alone.
-
The motel room was eerily silent when you woke up, the kind of silence that felt unnatural after the chaos of the night before. For a moment, you forgot where you were. The thin sheets tangled around your legs, the scratchy motel pillow under your head, the scent of old cigarettes and cheap air freshener in the air—it was all unfamiliar. Then it hit you. You had killed your ex. You had fled the scene with a stranger. You had watched Lee Know drive your only means of escape into a river. And now, you were lying in a rundown motel, uncertain of what would come next.
You turned your head, expecting to see Lee Know still on the floor, but the space where he had been was empty. Panic seized your chest for a brief second before you heard the faint sound of water running. The bathroom door was slightly ajar, steam escaping from the edges. He was still here. You exhaled, trying to calm yourself, but your body was stiff with tension. The adrenaline from last night had long since worn off, leaving you with nothing but exhaustion and the sharp sting of reality. Your hands ached from gripping the knife. Your arms throbbed from the bruises that had yet to fade. Your heart felt like it was trying to crawl out of your chest.
What now?
Your thoughts were interrupted when the bathroom door creaked open. Lee Know stepped out, towel-drying his damp hair, dressed in fresh clothes that were just as stolen as yours. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes immediately flickered to yours. “You’re awake,” he stated. “Sadly.” you muttered, sitting up slowly. The soreness in your muscles made you wince. He tossed the towel onto the chair and ran a hand through his hair before walking toward the window, pulling back the curtain just enough to peek outside. His shoulders remained tense as he scanned the parking lot. “See anything?” you asked, voice hoarse from sleep. “Not yet,” he said. “But we shouldn’t stay here long.”
That wasn’t surprising. If the cops had any leads on you, this was the first place they’d check. Cheap motels were always the go-to for people on the run. You swung your legs over the side of the bed, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. “We need a car.”
“I know.”
“And money.”
“I know.”
You huffed, glaring at him. “Do you have a plan, or do you just like stating the obvious?” Lee Know shot you an unimpressed look before pulling a chair away from the small motel desk and sitting across from you. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. “You ever steal a car before?” he asked. You blinked. “Have you?” He rolled his eyes, “No but-”
“That’s your plan?” You scoffed. “Answer the damn question, it’s a yes or no, princess.” You hesitated before answering. “No.”
“Good,” he nodded. “Then you can watch and learn.”Your stomach churned. You were already a murderer. Now you were adding grand theft auto to your list of crimes? But what choice did you have? You could go to the police, confess everything, and spend the rest of your life behind bars. Or you could stick with the stranger you knew—Lee Know—and figure out a way to disappear. The latter seemed like the smarter option. Lee Know must have noticed the hesitation on your face because he sighed, leaning back in his chair. “Look, I don’t know what you were before last night, but none of that matters now. You crossed the line. We both did.”
“It shouldn’t be this easy…” You shook your head in denial, Lee know leaned forward in the chair, putting his foot down onto the floor. “There’s no going back.” You swallowed. “I know.”
“Then act like it.”
The weight of his words settled deep in your chest.
You weren’t just someone running from a mistake.
You were someone who had killed and chosen to run.
There was no turning back.
-
The sun was barely up when you and Lee Know left the motel. The early morning air was crisp, the streets quiet except for the occasional passing car. You walked side by side, trying to look casual, though your heart was hammering. “See that parking lot?” Lee Know muttered, nodding toward a run-down store ahead. “That’s our best bet.” You followed his gaze. A row of cars sat unattended in the lot, most of them old, beat-up models. “How do you know which one to take?” you asked under your breath. He smirked slightly. “I don’t. We’ll just have too see.”
You didn’t ask.
He led you toward a rusty sedan near the back of the lot, glancing around before gesturing for you to stand lookout. Your pulse quickened as you took a step away, eyes scanning the area for any witnesses. Lee Know crouched by the car door, pulling something from his pocket. A small, thin tool. Within seconds, he had the door open. You stared in disbelief. “That was fast,” you muttered. He slid into the driver’s seat. “Get in.” You hesitated only a moment before slipping into the passenger seat. The interior smelled like stale cigarettes and cheap air freshener, but you barely noticed as Lee Know worked on hot-wiring the car. The engine sputtered, coughed, then roared to life.
Your breath caught.
“Shouldn’t you be telling me why you know how to hot-wire a damn car?” you said, gripping the seat, whilst staring at him with a frown.
He huffed, throwing the car into reverse. “A residental electrical company. Used to own one.” His eyes fixed on the road. You rose a brow, slightly impressed but still on edge. “Cool.”
With a stolen car and no clear destination, the only thing left to do was drive. The highway stretched endlessly before you, the world slowly waking up as the sun crept higher into the sky. Silence filled the car. Lee Know kept his hands steady on the wheel, his expression unreadable as usual. You watched the way his fingers drummed idly against the steering wheel, the tension still lingering in his posture. Them being together was dangerous. That much was obvious. But there was something else beneath the surface. After a while, he finally spoke.
“What are you thinking about?”
You hesitated before answering. “What happens next.” His grip on the wheel tightened slightly. He shook his head, “We find a place to lay low. Figure things out from there.”
“And then?”
He glanced at you, expression unreadable. “Then we survive.” You didn’t like the vagueness of his answer, but you didn’t push. Instead, you let the road take you forward, away from the past and into an uncertain future.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴇꜱᴄᴀᴘᴇ ; part 1
There was a time when you thought love was supposed to feel like warmth. Like lazy Sundays under the sheets, laughter echoing between walls, fingers tracing over soft skin. That’s how it had started—with sweet words, late-night phone calls, and the promise that someone out there had finally seen you, really seen you. You were nineteen when you met him. He had walked into the café you worked at, all confidence and easy charm, flashing a grin that had once made your heart flutter. At first, it was like something out of a movie. He’d wait for you after shifts, bring you flowers, stroke your cheek with the back of his hand like you were something precious. He told you he loved you before you even had time to process what love really was.
Then, slowly, things started to change.
He would get upset if you took too long to reply to his texts. He would show up unannounced at work, asking why your male coworkers were talking to you. You brushed it off as love—because love was supposed to be possessive, right? If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t act like this. The first time he grabbed your wrist too hard, leaving faint bruises, he apologized for an hour straight, kissed the marks, told you he couldn’t live without you.
By the time you turned twenty-two, you had stopped working altogether.
By the time you turned twenty-three, you had stopped seeing your friends.
By the time you turned twenty-four, you had stopped being you.
You weren’t sure when the bruises turned to slaps. When the yelling turned to punches. When your home became a prison. He never let you leave unless it was for groceries or errands—only when he was with you, of course. He needed dinner ready when he came home, needed his shirts ironed, his whiskey poured. You were his.
And you had no where else to go…
The day started like any other night.
The smell of stale beer filled the house before he even stepped through the door. You were already in the kitchen, fingers gripping the wooden spoon as you stirred the pot of soup, willing your heartbeat to slow. The front door slammed. Heavy footsteps followed.
“Where the hell are you?”
You exhaled slowly, plastering on the same tired smile you had perfected over the years. Small, obedient, quiet. “In here,” you called tiredly. You’re “lover” had appeared in the doorway, his dark eyes glassy, his shirt wrinkled like he had spent the entire day hunched over a bar counter. He smelled like whiskey and something sour, something rotten. His gaze landed on the soup. “That’s it?”
You swallowed. “It’s all we had left—”
The bowl was on the floor before you even saw his hand move. It shattered, soup splattering across your ankles, burning your skin. You flinched, but you didn’t move. “You useless bitch,” he hissed. The slap was sudden, ringing across the walls. Your head snapped to the side.
Then came the second hit.
And then the third.
You hit the floor, gasping as pain bloomed across your cheek. His boot connected with your ribs. The air was sucked from your lungs as you curled in on yourself. “I should’ve left you to rot,” he muttered, yanking you up by your hair, forcing you to look at him. “You’d be nothing without me.” He let you go. You collapsed onto the floor, chest heaving.
Then he left.
And the house was quiet again.
You lay there for a long time, staring at the ceiling. Meanwhile, something inside you had shifted…
-
The house was eerily quiet that evening. Not peaceful—never peaceful, but heavy, like the air itself was bracing for what it knew was coming. The clock ticked steadily in the kitchen, the only sound in the suffocating silence. You stood in front of the stovetop, stirring a pot of half-burnt stew, your fingers trembling just slightly as you’d set down the spoon. Your eyes drifted toward the front door, to the hallway, to the living room where he had passed out on the couch hours ago with an empty bottle still clutched in his fist. You knew tonight was the night. You felt it in your bones. The weight of your bruises—the ones still purple from last week, the ones that bloomed along your ribs—pressed down like a warning, but you didn’t flinch. You were tired. Tired of crawling through each day pretending you weren’t breaking.
Tonight, you would provoke him. Not because you wanted the pain—but because you needed a reason. Something to justify what had been building inside you like a silent scream for months. You picked up the remote from the couch and muted the TV. That alone would be enough. You called his name softly. He groaned, but you pressed harder. “I threw out the rest of your vodka.” The stillness that followed was worse than the shouting. He sat up slowly, his head tilted at an unnatural angle as he blinked at you, the bottle slipping from his fingers and clattering onto the carpet. His voice slurred but sharp, “You did what?”
You said nothing.
“The hell did you just say to me?”
Your hands clenched at your sides. “You heard me. You don’t need it. You haven’t needed it in years. You’re not some sad kid anymore. You’re just cruel.”
And that was it.
He lunged off the couch, the rage blooming across his face like a mask. The slap was quick, jarring, and left a metallic taste in your mouth. Your head snapped sideways, but you didn’t stumble. You simply stayed standing. You didn’t cry. You couldn’t. “You bitch,” he growled, spittle flying from his lips. “You think you can talk to me like that in my house?”You laughed bitterly, your lip split and bleeding. “Your house? It’s mine. My name’s on the lease. I do everything here. You don’t even work.”
His hand curled into a fist. That one landed harder, right into your stomach. The wind rushed out of your lungs as you collapsed to your knees, gasping. He kicked your side—once, twice. You cried out as pain bloomed across your ribs. But still, you crawled toward the kitchen. He followed, boots stomping behind you like thunder. “Trying to run again? Where the fuck do you think you’re going?”
You reached the edge of the counter, pulling yourself up by the handle of a drawer. Your body shook, skin flushed with heat and adrenaline. The moment he grabbed your hair to yank you back, you opened the drawer. Your fingers wrapped around the handle of the long, silver kitchen knife. Cold. Heavy. Real. He was shouting now, pulling at your arm, jerking you backward by the hair, but you twisted around—your body moved faster than your mind—and the blade slid into his abdomen before you could even realize what you were doing.
Silence.
He froze, eyes wide, mouth open in a grotesque shape of disbelief. His hands instinctively went to his stomach, feeling the warm, wet blood seep between his fingers. Your hands were shaking violently, the knife still in your grip. He stumbled backward, crashing into the cabinets. “You—” he choked. He came forward again, and this time it wasn’t just rage in you—it was terror. You screamed as he reached for you, and stabbed again. Again. Again.
You lost count.
The knife was slick with blood. Your hands coated in it, arms shaking from the force. He grunted, then slumped to his knees before falling onto his side. There was blood pooling beneath him, a dark, thick river that began to crawl along the tile. You had stood there for a long time, your chest heaving, the blade still clenched within your palm. You stared down at him—the man who had ruled your life with fear and fists—and felt nothing at first.
The silence that followed was deafening.
Then came the cold. Then the ringing in your ears. Your fingers went limp, and the knife clattered onto the floor beside his body. Your knees gave out, and you sank down next to the mess you made, staring at it all in disbelief.
You should have cried. Screamed. Run.
But you just sat there, back pressed to the cabinets, your head resting on your blood-streaked knees. Your breath caught in your throat, and your body shook from exhaustion, from pain, from relief.
“I killed him,” You whispered, over and over again, voice hoarse. “I killed him.”
You stared at the blood pooling around him, breath hitching. Your hands trembled violently. You had done it. The first time in years—you finally weren’t afraid.
And now, you had to get rid of him.
-
The neighborhood was quiet, the world still sleeping.
Hours passed, or maybe it was minutes; time had lost its meaning. You opened the trunk of your car. It was a beat-up sedan, nothing special. The kind of car that didn’t draw attention. You pulled the body close, sweat dripping down your temples, and with one final push, you heaved him inside.
You looked like a murderer.
And then you realized—you were.
You climbed into the car and started the engine. Pulling out of the driveway, leaving behind the house that had been both a sanctuary and a prison. You drove with no clear destination in mind, the weight of your actions pressing down on you. The roads were deserted, the world oblivious to the storm raging within yourself. After what felt like hours, you found yourself on a secluded stretch of road, surrounded by dense woods and a nearby lake. The isolation was both comforting and eerie. You pulled over, stepping out into the crisp night air, the silence deafening.
What you didn’t know was there was someone in the same boat as you. Many feet away, where the water was. A man had just watched his boss sink beneath the surface, swallowed whole by the murky stillness of the lake. The water was still now. Eerily so. Only a ripple remained, then silence. Lee Know didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. The weight of what he’d done wasn’t something he could explain—not even to himself. Still in his work clothes that were now stained with blood, the white work shirt was left unbuttoned a bit, without the blazer. He stayed a few feet from the shore, back against the door of his car as he kneeled with his head in his bloody hands. His mind was blank, eyes glassy, until the sound of gravel moving under heavy wheels of a car broke through the stillness. Someone was here.
He tensed, moving to hide instinctively. From behind the tree line, a figure emerged—disheveled, limping, clearly hurt. You. Your hair was wild, eyes swollen and red, your white dress soaked in spots with something dark. Blood. You dragged your feet to the lake’s edge with tired desperation. To see how deep the lake went down, your held tilted in curiosity to yourself. He watched from the shadows, unmoving. You stopped at the edge. For a second, he thought you were going to throw yourself in too. Instead, you turned around, to walk back to your car. You gulped, the lump in your throat finally growing as you crumpled onto your knees in the grass. Hands trembling, covering your mouth. Sobs—choked and hoarse, tore through you, all the whilst trying to bite them down with your knuckles. Grief. Horror. And guilt.
You had blood on your hands—literally.
Lee Know knew that look. Knew the weight of whatever you had done. He stepped backwards without thinking. Gravel shifted beneath his boots.
Your head snapped up to the sound. In terror, you scrambled to your feet. Only to notice a car through the night sitting in the gravel near the road. You gulped.
Shit.
Your eyes locked onto the abandoned car, that clearly had been there the whole time, as a man stepped out from behind slowly, hands raised in defense. “I’m not here to hurt you.” Your eyes raked down the unknown male’s figure, taking in his disheveled appearance. What startled you further, was that it wasn’t far off from yours.
However, you didn’t believe the man. He took quick notice of the knife you held even before you saw him. Eyeing it with weary. But you were already moving—staggering slowly toward him, fist clenched around the knife like you had nothing left to lose. “I didn’t ask.” Your voice shivered, staring down at the dirty knife etched into your hold. Slowly taking a step forward just as he took one back, he began again, “I won’t say anything, just-” He paused with a small sharp inhale watching you stare up at him, your eyes almost deranged, his whole body tensed. You shook your head, “I can’t let you go. Not after seeing this.” You gulped, and before Lee know could defend himself, you lunged. He struggled, wildly, as you brought him to the ground, straddling him, the blade of the knife forcefully being brought down to his chest in an attempt to stab him, but the grip he held to your hands around the knife gave both of you a struggle.
“Stop,” he hissed, twisting your wrists away with a grunt of struggle. You didn’t. Tears streamed down your face and as you shook your head. “I—I can’t—”The moment his fingers pried the knife from yours, you crumbled. You sat there, still on top of him, sobbing so hard your body shook. All the male could do was just watch, he was familiar with the feeling she couldn’t get passed. Regret
Then—
Sirens.
Blue and red lights cut through the trees.
“Shit,” he cursed, the two both standing up, watching a cop car pull up, headlights flooding the scene. holding hands in front of their faces from the lights that parked in front of them at a distance. Lee know knew the only way to get out of this, it’d be one hell of an idea though. The officer stepped out, one hand on his holster. “What the hell is going on here?”Upon seeing the bloodied couple and the knife, you’d be able to put two and two together. Your breath hitched. Then—his hand grabbed yours.
“Run.”
Gunshots.
You bolted. His grip tightened around your wrist as he yanked you toward the car. Your car. The bullet grazed his shoulder. He grunted but didn’t stop. The car roared to life, tires screeching, bullets roaring.
The chase had begun.
And neither of you could turn back now.

"BREAKING NEWS! UNEXPECTED WORMHOLES APPEAR TO BE POPPING UP ALL OVER THE CITY OF SEOUL."
The eyes of Choi Taeyang had cowered over the small T.V posted ahead of him. The man had desperately tried getting some source of a nap while the other members worked around him, that was just until his attention averted to the live broadcast.
Leaning off the leather cladded couch, he tilted his head as bright red words stretched across the television screen.
"The hell is this?" Theo muttered.
The two boys sitting on the floor stared up at him, pausing in the middle of their game. "What's up?" Intak spoke, raising a brow. Theo nodded his head up towards the T.V, Jongseob's eyes flickered to the newscaster, he placed the small Nintendo he had onto the cold wood floor. A smaller picture of the 6 men popped up on screen, the picture from many years ago when the 'almighty' P1harmony was out and saving the world.
They were what everyone called, "The world's heroes" much to their demise, but it was true. It's been 4 years since peace had settled around + world, and it had not been a good look for the boys since. After curing the virus that set the world a storm, left a huge impact on not only their city, but their heroes.
As of now, the boys have been hiding from the press. Mostly for their people's safety, because they knew that someday Alcor would come back. Possibly even worse. Due to their disappearance, they had been forgotten to the outside world. Castawayed from the media leaving them as appalled they were by the very words leaving the reporters mouth on from the news.
"Widespread panic is being reported around areas that reach beyond Daejeon." The scarlet haired male, second eldest, Keeho stood up from his chair as well as Soul who fixed his chain. The two moved to face the screen that showed live footage of the "wormholes" that were growing in size. The newscaster stopped his speech when one of the camera men moved into frame, discreetly whispering something into the man's ear. Shock unraveled on his face, his wrinkles deeper, as his eyes fixated on the screen when the male walked off. "It appears that these wormholes are portals...to another world?”
"There have been no reports on what these could contain, or what's among the 'world' inside." The next few words that left the man's mouth left the boys in disbelief.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but, where are our + heroes when you need them? P1harmony, save us all." The T.V cut off, screen turning black, reflecting the looks of utter disbelief upon all the boys faces.
"What the fu-”
(flashback)
“Today’s the day.”
Were the last words Karina heard fly out of Heloca’s mouth before she had drifted off into space. To be fair, the girl had been running on 1 hour of sleep, the lecture her group was being given was the least of her worries at the moment. Heloca noticed this while giving the speech, and Karina could tell by the small glares her teacher threw at her. The only thing keeping her awake from her lack of sleep were the bright white lights that beamed down from the corridor onto the room the small assembly was being held, but it didn’t stop her from wobbling back and forth on the heels of her feet. Heloca had announced across headquarters a new mission that was to commence. It’s a very important one considering most of the higher ups are involved. Karina would’ve cared a lot more if it weren’t to invade another reality, and it was all finally catching up to the girl. It was clear the woman needed a rest, especially to the people next to her watching her figure tilt and sway as if she were refraining herself from toppling back into them.
The small tug from the back of her top was enough to pull her from her delirious state. Her body visibly flinching by the unexpected pull, her head turned to the voice that whispered in her ear, “Pull it together, K.” Her friend, Zeko stated firmly. He threw her a raise of his brow as Karina shook her head, “Sorry. Just tired.” Her eyes peered ahead out of the window of the building they stood in. She watched as the groups of kids outside played along the sidewalks, using the specialized bright neon tech to help them run about. “Are you sure that’s the only thing?” A small huff left her lips as she turned to stare into her friend’s bright blue irises, “Listen to your senior.” She used her two index fingers to nudge his jaw back forward to look back at their leader who was speaking. He couldn’t resist the small grin that formed on his lips from the contact, but did as told.
Zeko and Karina have been colleges for a couple of years. The first time she figured out her abilities, Heloca introduced Zeko as Karina’s new trainer. Ever since then, the two have been close. He could read her like a book, her knew there was something else that was going on in her head, but she’d never share. Karina’s always been very imaginative, always wanted to see overlook what was beyond her world. The only thing that stopped her was her superior. Heloca practically raised Karina, so she never was able to experience having many friends or even romances, which she’d rarely consider. She’s always been Heloca’s apprentice, as much as she despised it.
The girl’s red and blue irises stared into a deep abyss, so deep that she didn’t notice Heloca’s icy glare digging into her forehead at the moment.
“Karina.”
Her eyes snapped over to Heloca who stared her down. “Focus.” She gave her a firm nod before swiftly fixing her posture in understanding. Heloca continued, “We find the team, destroy Plus+World, take them. A simple extraction.” Karina would’ve scoffed, but she couldn’t let herself be shunned upon by her peers. From her perspective, she knew this invasion would be just be the start of a war. Especially when this another universe they’d be invading. It was ‘justice being served’ to Heloca’s beliefs, though all it was to Karina was more redundant destruction and chaos. But she grew up being one of the ones to provoke it, and it scared her. But what scared her even further was to go against her own people. She knew better. She knew the consequences she’d endure by just one step onto the enemies ground would lead to her own downfall, and many others. So she kept her mouth shut, her cold fingers fiddled together in front of her abdomen, showcasing her ‘subtle’ nervousness.
Heloca’s words knocked her back into her senses at once. “The mission starts now.”
Wait what?
Everything happened so fast the girl couldn’t even process everyone starting to leave around her. Karina turned around to ask Zeko but was met with an empty space, her eyes threatened to roll once she heard the voice of Heloca call her. Karina turned to see the older lady motion for her to walk over. As she did, Heloca stared her figure up and down looking slightly concerned. “Is everything alright, Rina? You’re out of it today.”
“So I’ve been told.” Karina threw her a raise of her brow, running her hands through her black and pink locs, to settle them. “Well, I need you today. So maybe try not to fall asleep on the day of you’re job.” Heloca gave her a gentle pat on her shoulder before walking to the door where everyone already exited from. “No promises.” Karina joked, Heloca knew she’d keep her word. With that, the lady nodded satisfied, giving Karina one last glance before leaving through the two doors.
Once by herself, she finally let her head fall back onto her shoulders that drooped after the door shut, a resounding sigh leaving her mouth, “I’m totally gonna fall asleep.” She whined to herself, sulking.
( ☆ )
The alert on Freya’s tech bracelet went off, the bright white light and loud beeping sound made her finch violently. In return, almost dropping the bowl of cereal she held tightly in her palms. Even her own reflexes didn’t help the small bits of cereal and milk that spilled from her bowl onto the white tiles of her hideout. “Jesus!” She almost cursed, she grumbled loudly to herself as she sat her bowl down to clean the mess she accidentally created. “The hell is going on now?” She muttered, shaking her head. Looking up from the floor and at the bright green numbers rolling across the screen of her bracelet.
Freya knew this code all too familiarly, her last run ins with the higher ups almost never went as planned considering how ‘well’ she does with authority, but she worked well with them. A small smirk etched it’s way onto Freya’s lips as she stood up to set her bowl down on the coffee table.
‘Oh, i’m going…’ She thought to herself. This would be Freya’s one way trip out of what she called her own personal ‘hell’, except for the fact that she was one of the first convicted felons of her world. After having her privileges of being a higher up stripped, she went off on her own. Eventually she found hideout and has lived in a secret place since, but Freya never intended to turn to a life of crime. Until one argument with a police officer that led her to believe that all police officers are stuck up and impossible all around. Freya being herself, couldn’t help but miss the opportunity.
( ☆ )
“It’s a get in, and get out.” The team hastly followed Heloca who brought them towards the one of many ‘portals’ that had formed as gateway’s into Plus+World. “These portals close quick, so make sure everyone stays together.” Karina stared from the other side of the portal into the sky, a beautiful orange and pink hue of Plus+World meshing well together, the air blowing through her locs was crisp and held a sense of ‘peace.’ A bittersweet aspect Karina would never forget. However, the feeling made something in her gut clench tighter than before.
Her eyes shut momentarily, feeling the arms of her peers nudge against her own one by one to jump through the portal. Zeko moved forward and leant her a hand, she watched as a small smile made its way to his face. The thought of Zeko possibly enjoying this malicious act kept replaying in her head. “Let’s go, K.” He urged, reluctantly-so she slipped her hand into his, giving one look back at their leader before jumping in with him.
On the other hand, Freya hastly grabbed her jacket off the kitchen counter along with her keys. “Bye, pinky!” She yelled to the small cage that held her pet lizard. Freya slid the piece of scrap metal that acted as a door open, crouching to leave through the small space. Knocking some boxes out of her way to get to the bright purple bike that had been hidden away from the general public.
Freya hopped on her motorcycle placing her matching helmet over her head, starting the engine and driving off as quick as she could. The air flew through her blue locs, the vehicle swerved and zoomed quickly through the streets, gaining looks from many passing civilians as she made her way to the nearest gateway.
The moment Karina and Zeko dropped down is when all hell broke loose. She watched around her as her own accomplices terrorized the civilians of Plus+World with tech grenades and blasters, people fled the streets trying to drive themselves away from the scene of buildings being blown up and being shot at. Karina swallowed down the guilt and immediately snapped into action, knowing this will end quicker with her help. “Split up.” Karina ordered, getting her gadgets ready. Zeko nods and runs off on his own as Karina walked down the streets, a luminescent pink glow swirled up her arms creating her own specialized tech. The bright hue shined off the sides of the buildings she walked between them, tracking down any sort of evidence to bring her towards her destination.
A speechless Freya walked through the same street as well, watching chaos unleash all around her. She huffed out a curse once she met eyes with one of the men from alcor. While trying to back up and get away before the man could call his comrades over to get the girl, Freya caught herself from tripping over two small boys behind her, they both had tears running down their faces with distressed looks upon them. “Our brother!” The twins screamed pointing back at one of the alcor drones, ready to shoot at a smaller boy, a baby boy to be exact. Freya reacted quickly by nudging the two behind her and generating a blue tech gun at the palm of her hand. One blast at the drone had it crumbling to pieces.
Freya ran up to the boy, placing her hands under him to pick him up and ran back to the brothers. “Follow me!” She ushered, leading the three away from the scene quickly as possible. She brought them to a small nearby alleyway, though she was saving their lives it felt as if she didn’t know where to go from there. Whether to leave them or bring them with her. She placed the youngest onto his feet next to his siblings.
“Where’s your mom?” Freya asked gently, placing a hand on both their shoulders. The question made the youngest’s mouth waver and the tears began to fall, Freya’s heart felt like it fell to her stomach, just watching the sadness paint their faces made her feel guilty at the thought. “Alright, okay…” Freya gulped down the panic that eased its way up her throat, feeling as if her work just now was useless. Until she remembered seeing a small shop nearby the first time she stepped foot into the world. Freya leant down towards the three kids and pointed across the street to the small coffee shop that hadn’t been touched, one of many stores that weren’t demolished just yet.
“You guys see that store over there?” She mentioned, they all looked to where she pointed and nodded. “It’s safe over there, but we have to get over the street, can you do that?” Nothing but care and desperation flooded her features, one of the brothers studied her. The bright purple eyes and blue hair were prominent features that they all took notice of. So before the other two of his siblings could grab her hand to go with her, he stopped them by one question that had been lingering in his mind for far too long now. “Uh, ma’am?” His small voice wavered. Freya’s brows knitted together slightly, watching his fingers fiddle with each other.
“Are you one of them?” He asked, his wondering eyes finally met her eyes. It grew silent for a moment, until Freya answered simply. “No. I’m just someone here to help, alright?” She gave the boy a reassuring pat on the head, before getting off her knee. Freya picked up the youngest and leaned down to let another one get on her back, “Hop on.” She motioned, in which the child did as told. The last brother pulled his hand into hers. The four ran across the street, narrowly missing the flying debris heading for them.
Upon safely arriving, Freya immediately went to open the door, but it was locked. She peered inside to see a middle aged woman standing behind the register counter, frozen and staring back at the 4 in fear. Freya used both her fists to bang on the glass doors, “Ma’am, let us in please!” She yelled behind the glass, but the woman stood in place, unmoving. Too terrified to even open the door for the kids. Freya only lost patience, letting out an defeated sigh, especially when the boy at her feet tugged at her hand to get her attention. “Ma’am!” Freya glanced back to where he pointed at the quartet of drones starting to fly at them. Freya started to frantically bang on the doors, almost cracking them the harder and faster she did it. “I have kids out here, please!”
By the desperate pleas of the girl, the woman mustered up some courage to finally run to the door and unlock it. Freya placed the kids down and ushered them inside with the woman. Freya swiftly grabbed the door and slammed it shut, not before yelling a quick, ‘thank you’. The children and lady watched from inside the store, seeing Freya blast all the drones down with her gun and run off.
Karina found her self stuck in the middle of an alleyway by the directions of her bracelet. They glitched and sputtered across the bright screen of her band. With a sigh, she walked down the dark secluded path, the area dark and quiet amongst the chaos that was happening a couple blocks down from her. The spray painted bold pink and black letters caught her attention while passing by. The words, ‘UTOPIA’ splattered across the wood of bricks. Karina raised a brow taking note.
So this is where they are…
Karina led herself around the building to check for any sign of an entrance. The moment she turned a corner the person she bumped into almost had her off her feet and onto the ground due to the impact. Well, both of them.
“Watch where you’re going, damn.”
Karina felt her limbs tense upon recognizing the voice that shouted at her. A small groan fell apart from her lips upon being met with bright purple eyes. Ones that belonged to her younger counterpart.
Freya
The moment Freya realized who it was she immediately leaped up from the ground and without thinking, throwing herself into Karina’s arms out of relief. “Oh my god! I’m glad it’s you-”
“Get off of me.” Karina’s stern tone cut her off mid sentence. By her body language and bluntness, Freya frowned and pull away almost immediately, clearly offended. “Well ‘hello’ to you too, Karina.”
“Why are you here?” Karina clicked her tongue, impatiently. Freya tilted her head, baffled. “I should be asking you the same thing. What the hell is going on here, Karina?” Karina sighed, “Heloca’s plan. Mission 3008, remember?” Freya stared at the girl and glanced down as if recollecting all the memories starting to flood back to her. “So…this is Plus+World?” Karina hummed staring up at the tall building in front of the two. “I think this may be there hideout? i’m not sure yet.” Freya shook her head lightly, “I didn’t think the invasion would be this bad.” Her voice grim, as her eyes followed around the corner to watch the drone shoot down another civilian. Karina tried not to think to much into it, Freya took notice of how quiet it grew between them. Neither of which knowing what to say to one another. “You don’t have to do this, you know-”
“We’re not having this conversation, Freya. I can’t betray my people. Not like how you did.” Karina turned her back from her ex-companion, as if telling her to ‘go away’. That only made freya follow after her, in need of defending herself. “I did that so I wouldn’t turn out miserable trying to end innocent lives for a leader who doesn’t give a shit about us-” Freya’s rant was cut off by a gunshot sounding off in her direction. The girl yelped loudly, feeling a burning sensation of a bullet grazing the side of her arm. Freya held her arm to stop blood from gushing out of her fresh opened wound, both her and Karina whipped their heads around to see where the shot had came from. “Heloca?” Freya sputtered.
The sing-song like tone of a whistle from above diverted their attention where they saw a raven haired male, sitting on the ledge of the roof, holding a rifle in his arms with a small menacing smirk. His legs swung back and forth mockingly as if to taunt them.
Theo.
“Yeah, that’s definitely not Heloca.” Karina muttered, raising her gadget up slowly. Before they could even take out their tech, he rained fire at them with countless bullets as they hoth ran in attempt to hide. Freya turned and shot back with a solid blast from her gun, the force making Theo jolt back before it hit his body. He ducked away by her second and third attempts. Karina crouched, she snuck herself away to move behind the building only to find a door. The door was boarded up, but Karina cared less. Her tech fists smashing through the planks of wood, with ease. Unlocking the door and pushing it open, she walked in looking from side to side in the place she entered.
The bell to the door of the workshop dinged when it popped open. Karina walked around the shop observingly. The T.V on and playing the news in the background, weapons and equipment discarded as if they knew she were there. Karina sensed someone creeping up behind her shoulder. When she turned around a fist went to collide with her face, but missed once Karina moved to the side to see a dude with short black hair and a red jacket holding up his fists, as if to taunt her. A flash of blond hair had caught the corner of her eye, Karina swiftly ducked when a blast flew past her head from behind.
Intak and Jongseob
Freya looked all around for where the sharp shooter had hid on the roof, from the angle she was looking at it was harder for her to catch a glimpse of where he had gone. “Coward!” She yelled up at the rooftop with a small grin.
That grin was slowly melted off her tense features once she felt the gun she held, contract onto her arm. Freya’s hand shot down to hold her arm, she grimaced feeling the tightness become slower and more painful to bare, it felt like a clenching sensation shooting through the inside of her arm, as if the circulation to her blood got cut off. The glowing blue power wrapped in on her own skin further made her start to believe her own technology was failing on her. A whistle from the end of the alley made her head shoot up to see who it was. It was another guy, she assumed was part of their team. The tye-dyed hair gave it away.
Soul
He saluted her with a goofy-smirk watching her scowl deepen. That grin etched off his lips as he saw her rip the tech off with little to no effort, now proceeding to saunter towards him. “Over here!” Another voice shouted. This time in english, from the opposite end of the block. Freya whipped her head back to be met with the sight of taller male, this one had burgandy colored hair and wore bright and condescending smirk.
Keeho
Before she could blink, he was gone in a ‘zap!’ and so was Soul. Freya groaned aloud at their tantics, “Men are so goddamn annoying.” She huffed, following after the two.
Karina had the two men she were previously fighting, hiding behind a small couch that was half burnt in half and smoking. Karina could hear the two fumbling with something behind the couch, but she made no moves to stop them. She wore an amused expression, and cleared her throat to stop their conversation. “Are we done here?” They both loomed over the couch, watching as the pink haired woman created the same set of pink armor that dissipated from her arms before.
Both Intak and Jongseob gave one another a look, before staring up at her figure. “Yes.” They both nodded, taking glanced from behind her. Karina nodded with a small raise of a brow and moved to grab one of them. A strong force binded back both her arms, as if a magnetic clamped her forearms to one another and squeezed. A small gasp left her throat at how fast she was put into a headlock from the man behind her, Keeho. Soul walked in front of Karina who struggled in the other male arms just as Freya made her way into the complex. She raised her gun and pointed it towards the man who held Karina about to pull the trigger. But before the moment all hell could break loose, a telekinetic force compelled everyone in place. Rendering them each frozen and unmoving. At that moment, a slender male with ginger hair walked in, holding a hand up with a blue aura clouded around it. The last and final member.
Jiung.
“Who the hell are you guys?”

Hey stayblr, I've been thinking of ways we can unite to help Palestine in the current genocide. With Israel closing borders again, no aid is allowed in and local organizations on the ground urgently need our help. So, i thought of rallying to raise donations for Palestine, big or small, as every dollar counts and can truly make a difference. Our initial target is to raise 1500 dollars, to be split between Care for Gaza and UNRWA. We’ll raise the target goal according to our progress!
For transparency, donations will be received through my Kofi, with daily updates on our progress. Here are the links to UNRWA’s and Careforgaza’s work in Gaza!
Palestinians are saying that this is the worst phase of the genocide yet. They need as much of our help as we can give them, so please, let’s all stand together for this.
If you cannot donate
- please reblog and share around!
- stream hind’s hall (all proceeds will be donated to unrwa!
