IRL relations of Iceland and Estonia

My first and favourite point to make is that Iceland was the first to recognize Estonia's independence in 1991 (after the collapse of the Soviet Union). President Lennart Meri said "‘In 1991, Iceland had a bigger role than an icebreaker in changing the world, as Iceland reminded everyone of the values lost" which, in my opinion, shows how highly we think of Iceland. Estonia and Iceland still have a great political relationship thanks to the Nordic-Baltic Cooperation (NB8).

Both of them are culturally northern countries. Contrary to popular belief, Estonia is ethnically northern due to being Finno-Ugric and having a lot of ties to Finland and Sweden. We have never been ethnically Baltic, only geographically. We can also make a point of religious similarities. Both countries have very pagan roots and large parts of the country follow traditions.

Both countries have ties to the sea. With Iceland being an island and Estonia having around 2300 islands both are bound to have great sailors. I can't speak as much for Iceland, but I can for Estonia. We love fish and we used to use a lot of seal fat. Both countries are also fairly cold! Iceland being colder, of course.

When we bring up them as characters, I just think they'd be cute together. They wouldn't judge each other for being a bit weird, they could go sailing together or go to the beach, fish together. Also aesthetically they go together, I love them!
