no but can we talk about stede coming over to ed and being like “hey babe uh are you giving weapons to children????” and then when they leave the children still have the weapons. he didn’t even try to take the weapons or anything. i love him

the way they gaze at each other after they kiss, and Ed's face softens and gets a little sad and he swallows a lump in his throat like he's about to cry

you can see Stede's face change expression just as Ed's does, mirroring him. the emotional gravity of this moment, the way they're just looking into each other's eyes, is so fucking massive.

Imagine being Stede Bonnet, who wants to share his interests and the things he loves with others so fucking badly, and is never anything but mocked for it. He is so open and generous with what he loves - he wants others to enjoy them with him! He wants to share his library with the crew! He wants to show off his closet full of fine fabrics! He's so desperate for positive attention that he shows his library proudly to Nigel!

And all he ever gets is "that's absolutely ridiculous," it's a "dreadful misuse of space."

Until Ed. Who is genuinely, effortlessly, absolutely enamored not just with Stede's things but with how much Stede loves them.

It would have been so easy for Stede to be reluctant to share the things he loves. He's been burnt so many times before. It would've been easy for Ed, so experienced and world-weary, to fall right in with everyone else calling him stupid and ridiculous.

He's used to being called ridiculous and foolish. But he still wants to share his things with Ed. And Ed, from the start, thinks he's incredible.

I’m sorry but it’s WILD that Ed and Stede made love for the first time with actual fireworks erupting around them. I mean… metaphor, y’know, but also like can you imagine?

One second they’re in intimate darkness, with just the feel of hands and mouths and warm bodies pressing together, and then suddenly the bed is lit up in gold and red and purple lights. They can look at the other one right there, above or below them, see exactly how much they’re enjoying it, see the stars and colours and love reflecting in their eyes.
