te fallaron. no te trataron como debían. ningún adulto te trató bien. tampoco exageradamente mal, en general. simplemente no existías. nadie te hacía reír. nadie te preguntaba qué te pasaba. nadie se preocupó de por qué no hablabas. por qué te pasaban algunas cosas, qué estaba pasando en casa, qué tipo de relación tenían tus padres. nunca fuiste la favorita de ningún profesor. no de pequeña, no de adolescente. no hubo nadie a quien le causaras interés. nadie quería jugar contigo, nadie quería saber qué te interesaba. el mundo te ignoró durante dieciocho años. nadie quería jugar contigo a las muñecas, nadie te quería por cómo eras. nadie se preguntó por qué no reías. nadie quiso hacer caso a tus gustos. nadie quiso darte una oportunidad porque estabas callada. nadie quiso esforzarte por ti, sino por lo que ellos creían que era mejor. o lo que podía joder a otra persona. tu bienestar fue creado por ti. construido, desde pequeña. un mundo paralelo para poder estar bien. y ni siquiera funcionaba. cuando el mundo no te quiere no sabes qué hacer con el mundo.

the more present i feel the worse it gets. the feeling that it all will end one day. the fact that i am not even enjoying the present because i feel mostly rejected and that i do not belong here. that everyone has a life that does not include me unless it is for their own benefit, not because i am fun or interesting, but because i can help them in some capacity.

i have no sense of community either. nowhere to belong, to be apart of. i have tried and failed many times. it's tiring to keep on trying.

Hey hey, as a librarian, can I just say don’t pace yourself at the library. I get a lot of customers saying “oh I shouldn’t get too many books out at once” but like you should!!!! Max out your card, take everything we have on a subject you’re interested in, make a book fort in your home. We love that shit! It doesn’t matter if you read them or not; just take them for an adventure and bring them back whenever they’re due!

For public libraries, one of the ways we secure funding year to year is lending. Governments don’t want to fund more books if they’re not being used and the way we measure use is by issues. Regardless of whether you read it or not, whether you have it for a day or a month, if you issue it to your library card, we get the stats! It makes the library look good!

Help your local library; get books out even if you know you can’t read them all!
