okay jaith song suggestion

it's from epic the musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans

and in particular it's the last song in the entire musical called

'Would You Fall in Love with Me Again'

and I don't know why but it kinda fits jaith in my head in some strange way cuz like Keith changed when he was in space and James has changed to but in slightly different ways to how Keith changed

the two parts could be changed between each other

with say Keith= Odyseseus and James= panelope or even the other way round where James is odysseus and Keith is panelope

when the lions arrived on earth, keith’s eyes search for james among the cadets. but when he finally spots james, james turns his head and looks away. he couldn’t meet keith’s eyes. how could he? keith left without so much of a word and only left behind his dog tags, almost as if it was a promise of returning(james wanted to assume)

however he didn’t return, when james came to his senses, he clung onto the dog tags and had to accept the fact that keith is never coming back, keith never cared, keith never sent any messages back—until he received a recording addressed to his name

the recording that is gathering dust on his nightstand.

anyways, this is such a good headcanon, would James ever pick up the recording/tape to watch it, who knows many in some universe he watched it when he got it in others it gathers dust

I'm back on the jaith shit

in particular the James ended up doing substance abuse.

so this is like after the paladins all came back probably after earth has been freed but like imagine if the paladins and the mfes decided to use the head thingys that showed the paladins stuff about each other, and obviously can't really control what if shows. (they do it in pairs)

so it's James turn he hasn't told Keith about how he went feral for like the first few months and or year or two after Keith got kicked and went missing and just imagine the headthingy starts to show the fact that James ended up doing drugs like his own father after his mother left

James screams mother issues and father issues and his family are probs all dead anyway but still like father like son and all that

it shows James struggle with substance abuse for about like I wanna say 30 seconds before James just yanks the thing from his head and goes quiet...very quiet and it just hits Keith that him leaving had consequences even if James promised to not kicked out after Keith, the raven haired boy still left and went missing and was assumed dead for five years and it messed James up so much that it answers all of Keith unasked questions to what happened to James and why he changed so much

Keith ends up staying in James room basically all the time since they talk and James holds onto him a little tighter then before because he's scared Keith is going disappear.

if their friends notice they don't say anything, Lance makes a joke here and there but all in all non of them mention it, they don't mention how after every mission Keith holds onto James hand like it's his life line

then the space whale happens and it shows Krollia soke of Keith's memories and Jamss is in those memories and Keith and James are laughing and being soft and chaotic

and during that one episode in s7 where they all are going space mad, Keith starts hearing James laughter in his ears and it's so close but so faraway

like just imagine Keith rerecording it because he just keeps apologising for leaving James and how things ended between them (Situationshipped so hard that they became two halves of a whole) and James getting given it by Sam when he gets back to earth and James just listening to it on repeat or James seeing all the others paladins messages and not seeing one from Keith and just his heart breaking because he thinks it means he didn't mean anything

That was definitely on purpose (I forgot Samwise said that) totally on purpose.

anyways, after they get on the helped James refuse to leave Keith alone and his team have to try and get him to let go of Keith so that Keith can get the medical help he needs and it takes Iverson or Shiro (don't come for me on remembering names wrong) pulling James away so they can get Keith help but James doesn't leave his side after.

and Yes James should get a chance at flying the black lion idk why but the headcanon I have is that if it's in a dire circumstance then the lions will let the person most important to its paladin fly it
