something that really irked me about the choices george lucas makes is him cutting out scenes that give padme more character like dude what??? soooo anyway are the deleted scenes canon or are they not :< ... padme introducing ani to her family was so sweet and wholesome i havent stopped thinking about it :,(

It's Padmé defending's hours for me

I have been seeing more negative (with very weird connotations, tbh) posts about Padmé on my dash lately, and while I'm a firm believer of the "scroll past it" rule, it really irks me a lot because MOST of these takes sound a bit mysoginistic to me and also (to me) shows a lack of trying to understand her as a character, not in a "you don't get her" way, but in a "you don't even try to understand the character and her context in the damn story just because you wanna sound holy than thou" way.

I'm all for accepting takes about Padmé's flaws or having a slightly more privileged/closed view (and that makes sense, she's aristocracy) but these people are SO WEIRD whenever they wanna talk about her 🤨

I'll forever mad that George eliminated SO MANY scenes with Padmé in the movies, but I feel like even if we had those scenes, people's complaints would be exactly the same.

But also i think half of the time people fail at understanding Padmé is because they're also failing to understand Anakin's as a character, idk

- Padmé’s love languages are quality time, physical touch, and words of affirmation.

- Padmé used to get homesick when she stayed on Coruscant for long periods of time. However, when Anakin was at their apartment, she would feel more at home.

- When she had free time and Anakin was away, Padmé would organise ‘girl’s nights’ with her handmaidens.

- Whenever she had a speech, meeting or other senatorial event that she had been anxious about, Padmé would wear her beloved japor snippet

Has Leia forgiven Anakin and accepted him as her father?

In Bloodlines novel, she is still mortified about being Vader’s daughter and hates him, and is unable to see him in the same light Luke can, who witnessed his redemption. However, at the end of the book there is a very touching and emotional moment. Her friend, Ransolm Casterfo is being escorted onto a ship to be sent back to his home world in order to be executed after being framed, and this is what happens:

‘In that instant, her anger rose to a nearly uncontrollable fury. If she’d had a blaster, she might have fired it. Her rage could have driven her to kill others- innocents- just to make sure Ransolm Casterfo didn’t have to needlessly die. She realised, then, something she had never fully understood before. She’d always wondered what had led her father to turn to the dark side, to become Darth Vader. She’d imagined it came from ambition, greed, or some other venal weakness. Never had she considered that the turn might begin in a better place, out of the desire to save someone or to avenge a great wrong. Even if it led to evil, that first impulse might be born of loyalty, a sense of justice, perhaps even love. Had it been like that for her father? She could never know. But for the first time in a very long while, she had some sense of who Anakin Skywalker might have been before his fall, and of the goodness that must have survived in him through all the darkness, all the years.’-Bloodiline

It’s a culmination of Leia’s Bloodline arc which starts with her not understanding Vader and disavowing him completely to at least getting how someone could fall, to even calling him directly in her thoughts “her father.” I don’t see her ever forgiving Vader’s crimes but I absolutely see her coming to terms with Anakin, and in some way, she has accepted him.

Lastly, in the new canon they’re actually playing up the Anakin/Vader and Leia parallels more than Legends or the movies ever did before. Wendig’s novel Aftermath was a study in screaming “Leia is like Anakin!”. Leia, for one, says “I would burn down the galaxy if I thought it was right” in that novel and that’s a pure Anakin quote. General Organa - much like General Skywalker before her - even has shots in TLJ that evoke Vader. Bloodline actually sees a character evolution in how Leia thinks of Anakin and I hope it’s going to continue.

In Turtle Island aka the so called USA, 94% of fatal violence committed again Trans people are committed against Trans women.

This isn’t about the stats, the poverty porn or the constant shock doctrine the West desperately needs in order to be inclusive. This is a call for solidarity and collective action.

Access to feminine hygiene products, bodily autonomy and the access to necessary safe and caring spaces as women are all human rights.
