my mom is 61 and her bf is a huge nerd and he’s teaching her to play magic the gathering and he had her watch avatar the last airbender with him and his ringtone is terra’s theme from final fantasy 6 and he paints pictures of sephiroth. my mom’s bf is nerdier than i’ll ever be.

and she does all these pinterest crafts and now she makes little bejeweled vials of healing potions for him and his buddies. my little geek heart can’t handle all this.

So very sad to hear Peter David passed away. He wrote many great, long runs exploring the various facets of the characters he was given and helped define or redefine them.

My conspiracy theory is it's propaganda for the state of California. Like "We know you live in the best state for the major you picked but California is the best state so why wouldn't anyone want to leave for a more expensive, less good course in their chosen field?"

I'm crashing out so fucking badly because of the lilo and stitch movie dude what the fuck do you mean "It's okay Nani gave Lilo up to the state because she uses the Rick & Morty Portal Gun to visit her whenever she wants because she's at UC San Diego to study Marine Biology :)"

It's not even the best university in California for marine biology. University of HAWAII at Manoa is LITERALLY the best university for marine biology in the entire country. Literally the best! But San Diego is like those cool parts of Hawaii. With the beaches and stuff :)

I love the people defending it by claiming that it's the realistic outcome, but also Nani isn't abandoning Lilo because she has this extremely fantastical sci-fi portal gun so she can instantaneously travel thousands of miles in an instant to see her.

Why couldn't the ending be a comprimise where Nani goes to a local university so she can still care for Lilo and have a support network like the ending of the original? Why does Nani have to dream of college instead of being a surfer like in the original? This just pisses me off so much.

The thing about this is I saw so many people online crowing about how excited they were because the trailer looked good, and I felt like I was screaming "You idiots! It's a live action remake! It's going to be garbage juice!" And nobody believed me. Now once again we have garbage juice made by people eho missed the entire point of the movie, and it feels like once again it's because Disney is afraid of causing offense to a group of people who don't exist or are extremely small. Like, were feminists actually mad that the original movie portrayed Nani as devoting herself to raising her sister and not focusing on college? I've literally never seen this happen, but they broke the entire movie trying to fix a problem that was never broken.
