It’s pride month soon so the posts are rolling in and it is just absolutely incredible how white gays have managed to center themselves in every conversation about the AIDS epidemic.

I do not want to see literally any commentary about the AIDS epidemic that does not specifically denote how the majority of people who died and a huge reason it was allowed to rampage was because it was killing black people specifically. And to this day, more black people die of aids than all of the other demographics combined.

We only make up 13% of the US population and yet we still make up the majority of deaths and we haven’t even begun to talk about how hiv/aids has been left un and under treated in African countries due to nothing but colonialism and white supremicist greed.

So no. I don’t want to talk about the aids epidemic unless black peoples are included in that narrative.

sorry if i’m being a party pooper but because rabies is apparently the new joke on here ??? please remember that rabies has an almost 100% fatality rate after symptoms develop so if you’re bitten or scratched by an animal that you aren’t 100% sure is vaccinated then GO TO A DOCTOR. it’s not a joke. really.

Banish the idea that all antisemites look like Nazis.

Antisemitism is pervasive in every culture and people aware of Jewish people’s existence.

Yes, some antisemites look like white European neo-Nazis, but…

A lot of antisemites look like an atheist influencer who mocks Judaism as a “gotcha” to Christianity.

A lot of antisemites look like a lady at Church who talks about how much she “loves Jews” because “Jesus was Jewish.”

A lot of antisemites look like a political commentator talking about the “globalists” and the “secret cabal controlling the government and Hollywood.”

A lot of antisemites look like your gay friend who says he can’t be antisemitic because he’s gay and “the Nazis killed gay people too.”

A lot of antisemites look like social justice advocates who will advocate for every marginalized community but will stay silent as soon as they are confronted with the antisemitism in their own circles.

A lot of antisemites look like fandom bloggers who think it’s funny and original to call Jewish features “feral” or “sleepy” or “sneaky” or “rat-like” or “creepy”.

People who want to deny their own antisemitism will push the idea that only Nazis are antisemites.

For people who haven’t heard: this month, the DSM (diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders) are planning on updating the criteria for getting an autism diagnosis. On paper, this sounds like a good thing. It’s not.

The DSM is the handbook used by healthcare workers worldwide, for diagnosing mental disorders and the like. You may have read that the autistic diagnosis criteria is getting updated and, like many in the autistic community, hoped that this meant that it would be expanded, to make it easier for AFAB, transgender, and non-white people to be diagnosed (as it is notoriously hard for anyone except for white, cisgender men to obtain an autism diagnosis). However, they recently released a statement saying that they were not expanding the criteria, but were instead making it more ‘conservative’, as they feel autism is being ‘over-diagnosed’. (Which is, of course, bullshit for a whole plethora of reasons which I’m sure you’ve heard before.)

As-of my posting this, they have not released the official, updated criteria yet, so there is not much we can do right now. But there is one thing that we must agree upon: DO NOT SHAME PEOPLE FOR SELF-DIAGNOSING WITH AUTISM. Because obtaining an autism diagnosis is, quite literally, only getting harder.

Extremely frustrating as Palestinians watching the world stand in solidarity with The Ukraine and suddenly knowing how to use the word occupation.

and this one too. they let refugees fleeing a different war freeze to death in the middle of winter while the world turned a blind eye at the frozen corpses of children who were denied asylum and died because of it. this was happening as of two months ago as well, it’s not old news

i stand with ukraine, obviously.

i also stand with those who are calling out the blatant hypocrisy in how others in the same situation were treated, as well as those who are rightfully upset in the world’s support of and reaction to of one group of people but not others who have faced the same and much worse.

and before anyone jumps on this with ‘omg not appropriate right now’ or ‘stop comparing the two’, it’s entirely possible to stand with ukraine and the russians who are protesting the russian govt, while at the same time acknowledging that the world’s eurocentric response to this situation is extremely different to the response it gives other countries in places the western world declares are “backward”, and “uncivilized”
