~~~~~
This is a little story I've been planning on making for a least a year now, but unfortunately never had the opportunity to get an ao3 account. Thankfully, with the power of God and patience, I got one!
Long story short, I wanted to make a sweet little love story about Wally realizing he has unusual feelings about his best friend, and how he may not be the only one who feels this way.
(Because I need more Wallaby content in my life, OK? They are my little guys.)
Anyway, I don't want to spoil everything, but there's going to be at least 6 chapters in total. Maybe even an epilogue. There is also some references to something I've implied here. If you get it, bonus points. Who's to say? Enjoy!
Guys. Whenever you take the time to. Please play this visual novel called My Therapy! I found it a few days ago, and I got more attached to the characters than the most bigger otome games. This game is fucking insane. And I love IT.
I finally did this!
Here's my interesting 6 personal favorite characters in media as drawings. Sorry if they don't look all that good, I tried my best. (I haven't digitally drawn in about a solid year.)
Tumblr media
I figured while I showed you guys this, I'll give you all a solid explanation for each and every one with why I love them!
• The Schoolmaster – "The Wall"
(I grew up listening to Pink Floyd throughout my life and never properly realized since it was more of my mom's thing. However, a few years back, the first ever song that got me interested was "The Trial" from The Wall album, and I was immensely hooked on it. Long story short, The Schoolmaster was a character I found the most interesting amongst the cast (from how he was animated, how he talked, to how he influenced Pink's story as a character.) He's not your typical oppressive authoritarian, but rather one that was made by the traumas around him (Like how Pink does) from the extreme abuse of his wife and his experience in WWII. I love how he's functioned, while at the same time loving how the album doesn't condone his abusive behavior, but rather gives a reason to why he acts the way he does.)
• Barnaby B. Beagle – "Welcome Home"
(Barnaby was a character I had a feeling I was going to like from the start. He was the lovable smart-ass character with a big heart who mimicked a similar personality to me when I was joking around with people. I also just love his accent. Big men with that kind of accent were a childhood favorite of mine as a kid. The way he says things that I once either said or thought of saying is insane. However, he became my comfort character on the day of March 15, 2024. It was the day his plush was first ever commercialized and the day my grandma's dog Una passed away. She was a part of my childhood, so when Barnaby said the part "Just kiddin' folks. I'm always willing to lend a laugh to those who really need it." That was like a gentle blanket wrapped on my shoulders. I thank God and Partycoffin for that. Not to mention, he canonically gives the best hugs. On a lighter note, he likes playing the bad guy, and I love that for him. Same, Barnaby, same.)
• The Shade – "The Longing"
(I came across this game a year back, and I love the premise of it. But my favorite thing about it was the art style. It's very storybook-like, with a gritty texture that reminds me of Tim Burton. The Shade as a character is one I adore. He's almost like some bug/bird/imp-looking thing, and I love it with all my heart. I adore creature-looking characters, like Panic from Hercules, so this was an all-time win for me. I need a Disney movie with a main character as adorable and lonely-looking as him.)
• Mae Borowski – "Night In The Woods"
(If Barnaby was my social side, Mae is my internal side. Filled with all sorts of mental funk, such as feeling disconnected from the world at times. Pent-up frustration and not feeling as smart despite people saying otherwise. The urge to regress back into times of comfort. Saying shit you shouldn't have said. A crybaby child at heart. Filled with memories of shitty things you either said, did, or thought that still fucks with you to this day. I relate heavy to Mae with all these aspects. This is why when watching NITW playthroughs, I adore a character like her as a protagonist. She's very well-structured, and it gives a realistic human feeling rather than a stereotypical game protagonist with this vibe like NITW. She's such an emotional gremlin like me. Plus, she's a cat. So bonus points.)
• Stretch McFadden – "Casper"
(Here's the thing. Stretch is overall my favorite character in this movie, and I'm not even guilty about it. His dynamic within the movie is organic, hilarious, and just top-tier. I have never seen such a character like him be written this well. His brothers and Casper are also really good, but he steals the show the moment he's personally on. He also keeps his word on things and is just an enjoyable character in general.)
• Joker – "Mask of The Phantasm"
(When I thought of my favorite character of all-time, I was a bit stuck since I love a lot of media characters in my lifetime. However, when it all comes down to it, this is the ultimate character. I grew up watching the Mask of The Phantasm as a little girl, and it gets me every time. It's a well written story, and this is coming from someone who doesn't really care about DC all that much. How can I even begin with this character? First off, mega props to the lads who animated this yellow-tooth bastard. Mark Hamill did an insane performance voicing him, and I hope it always stays that way. There's plenty of really good jokers, but this one steals my heart. He's the combination of both batshit crazy and hilarious. He's sadistic yet every one-liner he says has me hooked. He's the reason I'm into deranged characters in media and I can't thank him enough for it. This man is my childhood.)
Guys. It's like 2 in the morning where I'm at, and I'm spending it by looking at the Welcome Home website for like the umpteenth time. And... I kinda discovered something that might be a tad interesting. I don't know if anyone has seen this yet.
Before you ask, all the houses, except Wally's, share the exact same words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm starting to wonder where this takes place in the story's term with the 4 main stories (The Neighbors, The Restoration Team/W's Secret Website, The Playfellow Workshop's History, and Your Discovery). Long story short, I think this is definitely connected with the whole "As Above, So Below" term. The connection of two worlds and those within it.
If you guys have any theories or anything, I'm really curious to know
Hi there 🌿
We recently shared our story about escaping Gaza and trying to reunite as a family 🕊️
It's been an overwhelming journey, and we're doing everything we can but we could really use help getting our story seen 💔
If you feel like reblogging or sharing our story, it would mean the world to us 🌍
Thank you so much for your time 🙏
And sorry if this message feels out of place.
@mohamedandhisfamily
I'm a bit late of a response (I'm sorry), but I see this dynamic. I feel like the opposite attracts trope is the main premise, but in a deeper detail, is that both of them, in their own retrospective, are sort of innocent in their own way. Wally is naive, and Barnaby is immature (sure, he knows things, but it's not really out of wisdom, and rather more of an experience). Their bond makes the daily adventures they take more magical, and they both grow to learn together and see wonders by the value of the experiences they share. That's where the true beauty of their relationship works. It's so endearingly pure, and they just cherish each other. They listen to each other and console in one another. My only concern is that, by fact, we're in a psychological horror story. This isn't going to stay innocent, and we're for sure going to see a tragedy turn out.
I think the reason I love the general dynamic Barnaby and Wally have is because of the way their personalities contrast and compliment each other. Barnaby is a very outspoken expressive guy and is very witty with wordplay. He's definitely more talkative than Wally. While Wally is more of a silent observant type and has a flat affect with his face and voice. They seem to enjoy each others' company and Wally tends to follow Barnaby to places as we see in the Homewarming and Halloween specials. Also the size is difference is fun lmao.
