I haven't posted in half a century because of... reasons, BUT. Today in Italy is the 25th of April, Liberation day. I would therefore like to remind everyone that resisting Fascism is not a choice: you're either against it or you are a fascist. And the same goes for the nazi ideology propagating in the USA: people there, read about other countries who already went through this, and learn. Educate others. And never stop resisting.

Remember also that education itself is a privilege, and it is extremely political. They will try to take it away from you. Keep studying, keep learning.

I fear my laptop will explode with all the stuff I have open on it, but for the life of me I can't find where I got a very specific information and I need to cite it, damn it.

🌱I am almost done with reviewing chapter 1 (will definitely be done by tomorrow) and I'm halfway through the English translation of Dream of the red chamber. The end is not in sight BUT I am cheered up.

I have been stuck writing the same paragraph over and over and over again like an idiot for, like, three days (if anyone has advice on how to get out of the loop, it's very welcome). My professor wrote a note on the first sentence and now I am doubting the whole source I got it from, which is a bit stupid because it's The Cambridge Illustrated History of China. So. Not the first person down the road.

I had to buy another book for this stupid thesis to be able to cite it, so I'm out even more money for something that is literally making me cry and lose hair from stress. I wish I was the kind of person who uses ChatGPT :(

Living life on edge by starting a new language (Nahuatl) for which the material is in a language I don't speak (Spanish). I guess it's similar enough to Italian but the vocabulary lists are already very interesting.

I also started working on a group project, which is due in 10 days. Tomorrow I'll wake up early and work on my thesis, then I'm busy all afternoon.

A heavy glass lamp missed me by a hair while falling today and the kitchen is filthy because my roomates are disgusting, so life is going great✨️

On the other hand I am proud of myself because I started reworking chapter 1 despite the crippling anxiety and nausea I feel everytime I look at the corrections. I did not turn it in today BUT one paragraph is definitely fixed.

Soooo I heard back from my supervisor, and I kind of want to disappear. I don't really have anyone to ask for help on how to properly write a thesis beside for, like, grammar, and I got corrected a lot. I hope it won't affect my grade too much; I'm going to correct it and send it back in by Wednesday, and I hope if I'm quick and show I learned from my mistakes she will be nice.

I disappeared because I went to visit my grandma, which was nice because it was the first time since I went to China but also I did not get much done (had pink coffee though).

My chapter one draft got dissected by my mother, who used to be an editor, and I sent it today to my supervisor which is terrifying. And I am 53 out of 120 chapters done with Dream of the Red Chamber. I am not going back to my uni city until Sunday and I am planning to lock in and finish book 3 at least, plus some work on the other papers I have write.

Chapter 1 of my thesis (draft) is finished! Not looking forward to writing chapter 2, mostly because I have sources in Chinese that I will have to translate.

Knowing I have a spot waiting for me is exciting but also really stressful. I keep thinking about it to get motivated though so I guess that's good

I had a presentation today about the Benin bronzes and have officially taken one exam off of my list yayyyy. It was really interesting by the way, it's a topic I recommend everyone looks into!

I was out all day yesterday with my scout group and got sunburned :/. But I am almost at page 500 of Dream of the red chamber (italian version). To do list of the week will be coming soon.

I went on a trip today for my museums and decolonisation class, and it was super interesting. I am really enjoying the class, it gave me a lot to think about, and the topic is truly interesting.

I am halfway through chapter one of my thesis, even though I'm a bit put out because my sources turned out to be useless for what I needed them for. Alas, I will find more.

Professors are crazy. Out of their mind. Why would you require a group presentation, a paper, a presentation on the project of your paper, and ALSO THE ORAL EXAM IF THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH???? What the fuck, man. (For reference, usually in Italy the final exam, written or oral, is 100% of the grade, so when you have class you usually have nothing to do).

Anyway. I wrote three whole paragraphs of my thesis today, wohoo

I went home this weekend, cuddled my cat and went to a museum with my mom. I love going home but I never get anything done because I can't tell my parents no if they ask me to do something together lol

I did get around to starting the books of my thesis bibliography (so boring) so yay! More reading! I'm going to die buried in books.

So many courses this semester require a paper/essay/presentation and do the professors don't know we have to write a thesis????

Friday! I'm so happy the week is over. I had to run around like crazy today because one of my classes finished late and I had another one immediately after in another completely different building, and I had to catch a train to go home.

I read 7 chapters of the Italian translation of Dream of the Red Chamber and I'm officially more than halfway through. Can't wait to be done!!!

I did not, in fact, get to page 400 yesterday. But I am very close. I had about an hour to wait and not enough time to go home, so I decided to stop and read in a square, which did mean I read a lot but also my hands are frozen. Oh well.
