What the hell is "intimacy that borders on love" even supposed to mean? Imagine your friend describing their situationship with those exact words to you. I'd be giving them, what you call "bombastic side eye." This is so childish to me, especially as someone who doesn't experience primary sexual attraction. This whole subject of determining wether something is platonic VS romantic VS sexual is something that I have had to examine intensely in my own life, and I feel like I can tell when people have not done so, when they say stuff like this. I think it comes from a place of wanting to draw hard lines, when in reality, there often are none. This is part of why I love jayvik - I like how it makes people (metaphorically) bash their heads against their neat categories of love and come up with bs word salad like this, when the reality is, that humans often don't stay within those categories. Also, when it comes to writing, it's less the sexuality of the character that makes something romantic, but the structure of the narrative that you have built surrounding their relationship. But I digress.

I know we all love the “needy puppy dog who can do no wrong” characterization for Jayce but I fear that’s leading us all to collectively forget his very real flaws and how Jayce canonically:

- was all too eager to flex his power as a councilor and increase police activity.

- looked down on and stereotyped people from the undercity.

- made underhanded deals to secure his business interests.

- installed a blockade between Piltover and Zaun with little to no regard for the people who need to go to work, get medical treatment, or literally just get home to their families.

- killed a child.

- was complicit in the gassing of civilians and made weapons for a police state.

And sure, you can argue that Jayce was manipulated/pressured into a lot of those decisions. But not all of them, and it was still him making those choices of his own free will at the end of the day. Jayce has demonstrated an ability to stand up for his beliefs and display some level of backbone, so him choosing to do the above is indicative of him not being as helpless and pliable as the fanon likes to portray him as.
