I know that Tobias Forge himself had remarked that he uses the half-mask + face paint combo because it’s much easier than the previous full-head latex masks that he used for previous Papa characters, but I like that [the character of] Papa V Perpetua’s mask has a variety of reasons he wears it, as speculated by fans.

-he likes the mask & he thinks that it’s cool

-it covers some severe facial scars

-it’s an enchanted object that keeps Perpetua in human form (or it helps him survive in sunlight)

. . . Or a combination of any/all these possibilities.

I like any of them.
