Johanna Mason also lost her loved ones after her games... she recieved the haymitch treatment too, but for some reason she keeps on defying them even after having lost everyone! What did she do and what does she have on snow?

I just can’t wrap my head around how thoroughly haymitch’s acts of rebellion were erased. this is a victor who literally set off two bombs in the arena. imagine having to follow a script about your own trauma, while trying to keep track of what’s “real or not real” about the most horrific period of your life.

haymitch’s story is a reminder that the rebellion was decades in the making, built off of generations of grief and trauma. how many other acts of resistance were covered up by the capitol? how many other victors defied them in the arena?

anyone else thinking about effie spending 24 years watching haymitch completely fall apart. effie, who met haymitch by accident, who knows exactly what kind of person he is, who sees him every year on his birthday for 24 years and each year he’s drunker, each year he’s angrier, each year he’s faster to give up. and then they get katniss and peeta. peeta, who is kind and open and understanding, who refuses to give up on haymitch. and katniss, who is so much like haymitch at 16 that it hurts. and over the few days they’re together, effie watches haymitch come back to life. watches him try. watches him have hope. and then they get to keep not one but both of those kids. they get to come home. and then, less then a year later, effie pulls haymitch’s name at the reaping.

im not an artist, but i used to write a lot before ai exploted and i just had a burst of inspo for a story.... what do yall think of this character? i'm still working out the details, but he's supposed to be a hopeful constrast in a post-apocaliptic world (still to be developed). this guy's an optimistic fella with an eye for useful beauty and a reckless hunger for a life worth living. the kind of person that hates "just surviving", which is his community's sole purpose given the state of the world. Any ideas?

i’m so appreciative to suzanne for reframing the rebellion from the original trilogy as a “they saw their moment and took it” type situation and showing us that they’ve been trying, over and over, with so many failed attempts, to break the arena and incite a rebellion for decades. in this current political climate never giving up hope is so essential. haymitch wasn’t the first nor the last, and they kept going even when it seemed completely futile, and that’s what counts, and what ultimately saves them all.

Chappell Roan not playing about her boundaries and personal safety and putting her foot down and yelling "shut the fuck up" at rude paparazzi during the VMAs red carpet is healing something in me truly. That is a lesbian woman refusing to act all grateful and bashful at being allowed space, she is owning the space for which she has worked over a decade and assertively setting her boundaries and giving zero fucks about whose ego she bruises on the way because only people who take advantage of you take offense when you set boundaries and I am enjoying every second of it
