nameable longing, leaning on my sister, lilacs in the spring, colorado springs, resistance to the good, pink hair dye, desire and inaction, pikes peak, milk swirls in tea cups, pulling at the wounds so they stay, swimming, missing what isn’t done yet, phantom longing of a first kiss, quick to tears slow to anger, fingernails biting skin, graphite pencils, trembling after a thunderclap, wind chimes, tiny burn scars, “but it lives where i live”, familiar nightmares, soft blankets, matcha, beauty marks, homesickness, softcovers, melted honey on toast, salt, singing off key, golden sunlight, empty swing set, writers callus, sunblock. and so on and so forth.

new year's rituals, spring jasmine buds, earl grey, a wish in the cover of every journal, cursive lettering, ice cubes, heart shaped trinkets, stained wood, stuffed animals, gothic horror, flower garlands, vinyls on walls, a new playlist for every mood, unfinished notebooks, screen burn, lace trim, fallen polaroids, an unnamed haunting, silent prayers, persian rugs, letters unsent, palms against thighs, loose leaf paper, nostalgia so thick it chokes, a longing for the coast, restlessness, memory caught in a web, the descent of summer into autumn, waking slow, heavy lids, face turned to the sun, back pressed against the wall, butter melting into toast, the stillness of the midnight hour. and so on and so forth

Constantly remember how full of choices life is and how if you let your guilt or shame lead you instead of joy you truly will have no one to blame but yourself when you are living a life that feels heavy and constrained instead of happy and free

When you are not a child anymore you have to make decisions based on your own beliefs and no one else's and if you can't then no one is gonna save you - it's something you do for yourself regardless of how it looks to people around you and no one is gonna tell you to choose yourself

i do believe on some level that real love is ugly. i think we’ve convinced ourselves otherwise by ingesting highly filtered staged moments of other people’s relationships and telling ourselves that maybe we are too ugly for love. but real love — it’s waking up in the dead of morning with dried drool on your face, it’s bleeding in a bed that isn’t yours, it’s having a panic attack in the park and not knowing how to verbalize what you’re feeling, it’s not shaving + not apologizing, it’s crying because you need something you cannot name + much more — all while being held.
