It sucks big time that one of the most notorious and important works of silent cinema has only ever been officially released in VHS or digital SD. Erich von Stroheim’s “Greed” deserves a quality release, even if only a couple people see it, because restoration is important and because art is for everyone.

the warrior cats books are my MCU. They’re not all that well-written, the plots repeat, they’ve far outlasted any reasonable timeframe, and there’s some weird proto-fascism going on throughout the books, but GODDAMN IT IT’S MY POWER FANTASY! I get to live with the talking kitties more! LET ME LIVE WITH THE TALKING KITTIES!!!!

Once when I was 13 I used my school email to post on Jerry Beck’s Cartoon Research blog. Jerry Beck eventually responded, but I remember refreshing the page wondering what he might say. This feels like that but in a way that doesn’t feel inherently illegal. (Joke) God I love being an adult with my own email.

Patricia Taxxon answered my ask. OMG!!! This must be what being noticed by an artist at a concert feels like. Wouldn’t know, too sound sensitive.

yikes. yeah, really different situations. still fucking frustrating. i hope your equilibrium is better.
As someone with a visual impairment, you are so real for peacing out of a game because of its inaccessibility. I have a memory of trying to play Mario in fifth grade and being eternally frustrated because I could not see wtf I was doing. Ableism in popular games sucks.
i didn't have a choice i was about to hurl

Win Butler is a creep.
Anyway, I cannot imagine the cover for Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs containing anything else than two cats in the car. Listening to the album through the furry lens just makes it right for me. Anything else is discriminating against me. (Joking)

Rewatched Finding Nemo today and was reminded how much this movie is disability culture. Marlin’s basic arc in the story is that he’s afraid and resorts to controlling his disabled son to cope with this fear, and he has to learn to trust other people and cede control, eventually learning to trust the autonomy and ability of his son. Nemo, by proxy, has learned from his father that, because of his lucky fin, he cannot help himself out of situations, but, through Gill and the Tank Gang, learns to trust himself and embrace the difference in approach that comes with living as a disabled person. God that final “I love you, dad,” hits so hard. This movie fundamentally changed my brain chemistry when I saw it at age 6, and I am confident that I am better for it.
