Perfekt World is happy to host a former member of the art-collective in their very own exhibition space for a solo exhibition and book release. Photographer and media transcending artist Lukas Ipsmiller presents a perennial work cycle “Levitate“ of which one photograph was turned into a screen by using silver and black pigments. His work, created on Cyprus, in Greece, Italy and Austria deals with the melancholy of things. Nature, people and technology are centered as solitary icons.

Besides being an artist, Lukas Ipsmiller is the founder of the artistic collective “Men In Space“ as well as organizer and DJ for “Wiener Endorphine“, a city known group being held responsible for endorphin emissions in Vienna’s club scene.

Influenced by Japanese animé , the graphic style from the 50s and Sci-Fi movies, he begins to paint graffiti just for fun and as a hobby, at the age of 13. Autodidactically and evolutionarily, attracted by fine arts, Smithe has constantly reinvented his own style and over the past years has tried out with many themes with his work such as existentialism, individuality of the human being and the machine within. The defragmentation, a frequently found analogy within his work, is used as means of conveying the inside elements which power his characters,  visualized in form of   surrealistic machines. He is commonly known for his graffiti but he´s also involved in other areas such as illustration, design, sculpturing and music. He has exhibited in Germany, France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain, USA and Mexico.

The  Berlin based oil-painter Patrick Henne copies from art-history,  changes hues and  color or   adds small details. Within this process he always changes the meaning of the original work.   Giving titles like: „Mother Mary, punched in her face by her husband after he found out that she‘d become pregnant from someone else“  and depicting mary, bleeding from her nose, complements his approach. It‘s a radical way  in which he treats old masterpieces, transforming them into grotesque, almost blasphemic   pieces of art while at the same time  keeping them fully recognizable.

Born in New Orleans in 1982, Wendell Brunious (WOKE) began designing logos and t-shirts as a teenager. Having grown up on cartoons, graffiti, hip-hop and sneaker culture, WOKE uses imagery associated with these themes as subject matter for his work. With a background in graphic design and printmaking, his work expresses the interplay of commercial imagery and abstract form. Inspired by pop art, he uses bright colors and commercial graphics, which denote the consumer mind-set of modern culture. By displaying commercial images as fragmented sections arranged throughout multiple layers, these images lose their narrative momentum and become abstracted visuals.  

Drawing inspiration from pop culture artists as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein along with the abstract notions of Frank Stella and Ellsworth Kelly, the works display coexistence of banal imagery and abstract form. The merging of these two concepts presents a complex composition of balance, color and information.
